I had a NZXT Z370 N7 and after they replaced the board twice I asked Newegg to step in and they did and will get a fiull refund (I'll post about it in the future, unbelievable what happened).

So I order an EVGA Z370 Classified K because it was on sale for $160 at Newegg and it arrived today. Boots ok, runs win 10 ok but when I set memory to XMP-1 setting it won't reboot, not even into BIOS. I called EVGA and a tech said anything above 2166 is a crap shoot with that board because the Intel controller only guarantees up to 2166.

So I set the freq. to manual @ 2166, did a reboot and same failure ... won't boot even into BIOS

Has to be a board or BIOS problem (I tried both Bios v 1.05 and the most recent 1.07)

Intel controller only guarantees up to 2166. Lame. Well, the problem and only main problem with that, I see that is an "eVGA" brand/board, ASUS rips through whatever speed RAM you put in them, and I have a Z170. My set of DR4 3K boot up 2933 on the first boot, after setting the overclock with the software provided by ASUS, I set it to 3K in the BIOS, so now my 77K is running at 4.8GHz with 3K RAM, which is the rated speed I bought. The other issue might be that you have a faulty set. Or have to manually set the voltage as well to run it at the rated speed............eVGA BIOS, tweak it.

my mistake, it's 2133 not 2166. When using Automatic setting (Default) it runs at 2133 but manually set to 2133 it wont boot into BIOS let alone the desktop - it locks up the board. I called EVGA and they couldn't explain why it's doing that so I RMA'ed the board this morning and have a MSI Z370 Gaming M5 on the way (a board I know from experience works well @ 3000+ on the memory.

My guess is their BIOS needs improvement
