Ninja Becomes the First Twitch Streamer to Reach 10 Million Followers

It's this simple. He is an entertainer. Entertainers have a history of making a lot of money. Pro athletes are entertainers. Kids probably watch him on their way to school.

Last I heard is he has 250k subs which means he earns $500k a month just from subs not counting bits and tips.

I am still waiting for my Ninja/DrLupo shirts to be delivered from May 7. Meta Threads is the company screwing me on the charity shirts.

So I decided to watch some YouTube videos of Ninja and see what all this bullshit was about.... 3 hours later I'm still watching him, and TFue and a couple others.

Gotta admit, it's more entertaining than I thought it would be.

I just don't get it. Tutorials, walk through or strategy guides I get.... Just wanting to watch somebody play a game, when you could be playing yourself, I don't get.

That can be said for anything. Myself, I am very much into motorsports and racing, I have my own track car etc. But am bored to tears watching races. I actually find that I enjoy watching things I don't do or don't want to play, more than I would watching something I do myself.

There is a difference between followers and subscribers. He gets paid via subscribers. Followers only get notified when he goes online.

Followers grow the community around a streamer, the more who watch, the more who know about them. The more followers the better, no they might not get money from a sub from them, but it is exposure, and sponsors pay based on followers and viewer count. That also doesn't get into ads they might run on their channel, or referral links people buy stuff from off their channel etc etc. These people also have YT and IG accounts, that these same people follow them on, which is even more income, as Ninja has more subs on YT than many people who make their whole living off of YT. They then also get paid for sponsors or influences on those platforms as well. Some time back Ninja stated that just from subs on twitch he was bringing in almost 500k a month, which still leaves out sponsors, tips, donations paid content and other platforms he makes money on, as well as paid events and prize money.

Most viewers are incredibly young. It is an amazing new generation. They also have their parent's credit card linked for quick payments to get those sweet sweet emotes...

Lots are young, but lots are also much older than you might think. And subs don't often come from someone buying them, most streamers will admit that 90%+ of their subs are Amazon/Twitch Prime subs, which are free if you have a Amazon Prime account. Many people on Twitch are "personalities", and it's not about a game, but the person playing them, the person is what people are paying for in lots of cases. But you do have some people who are only good at one game etc, or if they start playing something else, their viewer count drops. From what I have seen, Ninja is great at Fortnite, however I personally can't stand his personality.

Correct, and doesn't include his other platforms, like YT, IG etc etc that he also makes money from or sponsored content etc etc. People tend to hate on streamers a lot, but I say more power to them if they can do what they love and make bank off of it. The money he is making even if his streaming career doesn't last a long time, could set him for life, for the time he has been popular with streaming, he has probably already made more money than I have in my whole life up to this point. Am I jealous? Hell yeah, but not going to hate the dude for it.
