The Intercept has learned that Google is planning a censored search app for China, which will comply with the country’s strict censorship laws and restrict access to content the regime deems unfavorable by automatically identifying and filtering websites blocked by the Great Firewall. Google’s employees are reportedly in an uproar over the plan.

The search app will also “blacklist sensitive queries” so that “no results will be shown” at all when people enter certain words or phrases, the documents state. The censorship will apply across the platform: Google’s image search, automatic spell check and suggested search features will incorporate the blacklists, meaning that they will not recommend people information or photographs the government has banned.

not to worry, Mark Z. already has his defense in place ... he will say how really, really sorry he is :barefoot:

If that were to ever happen those factories will belong to china until the US comes in and takes them back.

They won't need you to be willing to do anything make what we say or off with your head.

Let's see if the employees stand their ground as much as they did against machine learning for the military.

Also, China inviting Google back in for access to their tech? Machine learning developments as one example.

It's a bit like African Americans and the N word. Only they can do it.

It applies to racist words for all races.

You are allowed to do it or say it when you belong to that race.

I don't 100% agree with it but that is how it works.
