DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Our prayers was heard!

It looks like that the die and heatspreader of upcomming i9 9900k (8 core chip) will be soldered. This will result in great temps inside the A4-SFX.

Hell yeah. Maybe it'll be time to retire the 6600k

this is great news, sadly a day too late as i just bought my 7700k! oh well :shame:

If anyone is interested, I have a brand new Dan Case v2 on eBay right now. I would post it in the For Sale forum but I'm under 100 posts. Mods, sorry if this violates the terms of use, please remove if so!

No one is going to buy that thing at 350 dollars bro, hate to tell ya.

My V3 from caseking arrived today! :D

I'm pretty pleased with the quality of the case, although i noticed 2 things, on which i would like to ask other owners about their/your experiences:

1. My front usb port is quite a bit shifted into the case. So it does not line up with the cut-out slot of the front panel. It's similar to this case over on hardwareluxx... It's not a big issue for me, as a standard usb stick can be plugged in properly, but i would like to know, if other (v3 in particular?) owners have noticed the same?

2. When drumming with my fingers on the sidepanels, a rattling noise occurs from them. On the top panel it sounds quite solid though. I guess this comes from the construction design, as the sidepanels aren't screwed all around, but only on the bottom side and are held solely on these "ball-sockets" on the upperside.
I guess because of this construction design very tiny gaps, which cause this rattling noise are not avoidable in production process? But i would nevertheless like to ask you, if you have noticed the same behaviour on your cases as well.

Thanks in advance!
But to clarify: All in all i'm nevertheless very pleased with this case and want to say thank you to dondan for your effort and this great product!

1. USB - I have the v1 and v2, but not v3. I do not see this problem with my v1 and v2. I think Dan revised the USB port to better accommodate the 92mm AIO radiator. Maybe try adjusting the mounting brackets yourself?

2. Yes, that’s aluminum making contact with aluminum.

I hear you, I'm just selling it for the price I paid plus eBay fees and delivery, plus they get it in a couple of days :)

Historically, they have sold on eBay for $300-400 with one or two available per month for the last few months.

Hi guys, do anyone know if the Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce (not g1) fits? It's not on the compatibility list, and I got a pretty good offer here in Germany. Thanks!

That might be true between production runs but I can buy one right now for $225 and it ships Aug 3.

That's what i thought... Guess you should wait until the V3 is sold out...

I think since V3's availability and even significantly lower pricing, it could be quite a bit harder to sell the predecessor from private hand (which always is riskier than buying from an onlineshop) for a higher price than buying the latest version brandnew from an onlineshop with full guarantee and right of revocation (at least here in germany)... o_O

No offence! Understand that you want the best price you can get and in the end everyone is free to buy it or not, but i don't know of many products, which are sold for their original price although they were in private hand for some time and there is already an even lower priced successor on the market...?
Even if the price was slightly lower, i would always go for the later and in particular brandnew product from a retailer with all securities and rights on my side.
Nevertheless I am sure you will be able to sell it for a very good price though...

Just my two cents :)

You're right. The USB port has been modified on V3 and this may really relate to the not properly sitting port.
Have read about this issue several times on V3 but it nearly never seems to occur on the older versions...
If that's really normal on V3 it's definitely a little flaw on a besides that beautiful case, but it's not a big issue for me!

Dose anyone have a way to mount a fan above the m.2 slot because ive tried and i cant seem to find a standoff that is the right size. I got super close but it wont thread in! it just wont..... Dose anyone know where to order standoffs that would fit?

Holy shit I didn't realize you can just preorder the v3 from SFFlab! Amazing. I might get my 3rd dan case...

Has anyone done a temp comparison between v1 with no 92mm fan and v3 with the fan?

DM me your address and I can ship you the standoff I’ve been using... I have already posted it in this thread, but it’s a pain to search, so: it’s a regular “M2 25cm” (has nothing to do with m.2 of the ssd connector name, very confusing)

You can fit a Noctua A4x10 or even the A4x20...https://noctua.at/en/catalogsearch/result/?q=Nf-a4

You are welcome. :)

Using the term blueprint may cause confusion, as blueprints imply a 2d floor map, instead of a 3d model.

If you are referring to use a shroud for the C7, there is none because the C7 takes up the max clearance for the cpu cooler already.
But I'm using a A9x14 on C7, which leaves a few mm space from the side panel. Should be 46mm C7+A9.

Anyone with experience about customs in Germany? How much will the import fees hurt? I've just bought the case, coming from an M1.

Hi, I'm sorry if this has already been asked and answered before, but this thread is over 350 pages long...
Does anyone know of a good, compact travel carrying case for the Dan Case. I've found a few but they all seem so big. Others have suggested something like a camera bag but I would to hear from someone with experience before I buy something incompatible.
Thank you in advance for the help!

ive seen messenger bags suggested. use the search at the top.

dondan : Can you please tell me, which screws are in use in the case?

Some screws were so heavily tightened up, that one of them is not screwed-up already, but i would feel safer to maybe get some screws for replacement... :D
Thanks in advance.

Edit: I mean the case screws, which hold the sidepanels, top plate, 120mm AIO bracket and so on.
Just to clarify... :)

Chris4SFX You can't buy these special M3 countersunk screws because the angle of the screw is different to the screws on market. It is a special LianLi screw.

ezeftw Yes you have to go to customs. Or you order it directly in Germany from Caseking.

I got the Lowepro Event Messenger 250 based on a post in this thread. It is hard to find, took me ages. You have to cut the tablet/laptop divider out of it, I turned the whole bag inside out, that made it really easy and you can't see where it was cut. The bag is nicely padded, seems like it will protect the case well, it fits really perfectly. Generally the bag is great quality. There is a bit of room in the top for one of those super tiny mechanical keyboards or a mouse etc. Overall I'm really happy with it!

Edit: here is a link to the bag on Amazon.

dondan : Thanks for your reply.
So there's really no way to get fitting replacement screws somehow...? Directly from LianLi maybe?

Until now the one is still in good shape, but i would be a bit worried about future upgrades.
Even if i don't screw them down tightly, i would not like to risk one of them to be screwed up in the future, as that would mean that i can throw the whole 230 Euro case into the trash...
Did nobody else face this issue so far and have some tips or experiences...?

You could go with an M3 flat head screw that is just a little longer to make up for the counter sink. It might not be a perfect fit, but it would probably do.

You could also try these guys. http://www.laptopscrews.com/
It looks like they will do custom screw runs for a price.

Thank you for your tip, QuadDragon! Highly appreciated!

I am a lil bit confused why the A4 SFX does not use standardized buyable screws though... ? o_O

Don't know if this is handled differently by bigger brands and mass production cases (either using standard screws or at least possibility to order replacement screws).
I mean, damaging or even losing one of these tiny screws should not, but CAN happen definitely...

Therefore good to keep those options in mind. Thanks again!

No, I ordered it from ssff lab. I'm in Berlin, any advice before I go? (I don't even speak German... Thanks and sorry for the offtopic).

dondan if I'd ordered through caseking, I'd have save the import fees + visit to customs? I'm so depressed right now... Thought that ssff lab was the only way to go

Yes. On caseking the end price is 230 Euro; Therefore a bit cheaper than on SFF Labs (think all in all it should be around 250 Euro with customs and shipping). But i think even 250 Euro are still quite an adequate price. I am overall pretty happy with my case!

If that is even possible, you could cancel that order on SFFLabs and order on caseking instead? On the other hand i don't know how many units are left on caseking...

One or another, your choice was not the worst for sure! ;)
It's not a big trouble with the customs (english shouldn't be a problem there as well) and in the end you drive home with your brandnew A4 SFX case!

Guys, All I have while im waiting for my V3 to get here (only a couple more days!!) is a GTX 980 Windforce G1 which is 297mm in length but the case can fit 307mm cards without some bracket or something?

Will my card fit? Its all I have at the moment until the 11xx's launch at the end of the month.. Can I still build with this card and will it fit? :(

My GTX 970 Windforce G1 which is 297mm fits, so I think you'll be just fine.

Can some anyone tell me the inner radius of the front panel? Thanks!

Hi dondan I have a question since your the expert on all things A4-SFX V3.

I have a GTX 980 G1 Windforce which is 297mm long and im wanting to finally do my build today now that I have my 92mm fan gaurd. Do you forsee there being a spacing issue with the 545LC tubes and that card? Someone on Reddit said they couldnt get it all together using a STRIX 1080 which is 298mm long and since im waiting for the next generation of nvidia GPU's that are coming soon, I know I wont have an issue with a founders edition card. But I really want to use my new A4-SFX so this is the only thought I have holding up my build.

If you do the cable management right it wil fit ;)

Neverfear I have custom cable mod cables for everything except I was off on the SATA power so that wont reach the front of the case. But ill just use the stock Corsair one for that.

I should be good to go after work today! SO HAPPY.

Here is a very awesome review of the A4-SFX. I love the 4K picture quality and the colors of this video on my OLED. Also the detailed knowledge about the product is very good. Thank you @optimumtech for this great review, you did your homework.
