Shipping Giant COSCO has a nasty ransomware infection on their hands and its entire American IT infrastructure is down as a result. They haven't responded to requests for the type of infection and fortunately for them it isn't causing shipping delays at this time. However, they are telling their employees to not open suspicious emails and have directed their IT staff to begin sweeping the network with antivirus scans. To top things off US employees are using Yahoo email to respond to customers. Kinda ironic considering the issues Yahoo has had with breaches.

The incident took place on Tuesday, July 24, but today, the company's American Region IT infrastructure was still down, including email servers and telephone network, according to a Facebook post. The company's US website was also down and was still down at the time of this article's publication.

Someone's been watching the movie hackers too many times.

We had one PC hit with ransomware by an oblivious end user. We just destroyed the HD and reloaded... Not worth even fretting over. Since then we have moved to Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection hoping it would do a little better. Also, everything backed up on the cloud. Since then no more problems. It's a big big problem.

I work for LabCorp and we got hit with ransomware last weekend. It shut down every aspect of LabCorp Nationwide for several days including phone Communications. Heck we could not even clock in or out for 4 days. In fact we still can't access everything even at this point. They have been replacing hundreds and hundreds of computers throughout all the different locations in the United States as they're infected with viruses too from whatever the people that hacked the system did. They have over 1 million patients information but LabCorp is refusing to pay at this point.

HIPAA-Bot says, "Can you say lawsuit?"

Yeah, I know.....Not a very good joke. It's not as if consumers have any legal recourse anymore when a company's databases get their stretched, WIDE-OPEN goatse-holes quadruple fisted.

I mean, if it can happen to Equifax and it appears more recently, LifeLock, doesn't matter it seems. The worst that might happen is that the CEO might get yelled at by possibly well-meaning (yet muzzled and/or inept) congresscreatures for a day or two, then shrug and continue making those Benjamins, bitches.
