A partially obfuscated 3DMark result of an NVIDIA GTX 1170 is being passed around, but PCGamesN is pretty confident it is fake news. One red flag is the purported memory configuration, which is 16GB: that a little hard to digest, based on the high prices of memory these days.

The flagship GTX 1180 could reasonably launch with 12GB of GDDR6 and easily outperform the last generation graphics cards currently on the market. I already shudder at what that could mean for the launch price of the flagship graphics card considering GDDR6 memory premiums and general memory supply concerns.

You decide :D

If you were going for the GTX 970 ratio, then 16GB = 14GB actual.

Only if it was linear scaling and the actual and reserved memory were both multiplied by four. In this instance, the joke hinges on just lopping off the same half gig as last time, without bothering to scale.

But, I guess being pedantic for sake of pedantry was more important to you, even when wrong by incorrectly dismissing certain other intentions, rather than just considering that there might be a joke.

Whoa, unnecessary roughness! You win the Condescending Gold Star Award :)

Fatality

GDDR6 chips have twice the density of their GDDR5/GDDR5X predecessors. If the 11 series doesn't have twice the RAM of the 10 series on at least some SKUs, I'll be skipping this generation.

So are you saying you would not want a GTX 1170 if it had 1080ti performance with "only" 12 gb of ram?
