Played Quake Lately? - [H]ardOCP

Holy cow that UE4 rendering is astonishingly awesome, if they can or would do the entire thing top to bottom and start to finish, good lord I'd buy that without even thinking about it. :)

Yes and don't touch the player or weapon physics. NetQuake for LAN and QuakeWorld for WAN. Get Trent Reznor on board again for the sound effects and music. Involve as much of the original crew as possible. I am not interested in Quake Champions.

Hello! I emailed you before in hopes of getting some help with this mod. I have gotten everything with Quake through Steam back to it's original state and restarted the process. Nothing crashes on start anymore. Problem is, nothing happens at all. I start GLQuake and it says "running" for a few seconds, then "syncing" and then that's it. Nothing happens after that. Any chance anyone else has had this problem and could give me a solution? I followed the directions perfectly. I am using two 970's in sli if by some weird chance that is affecting it.

You only need the ID1 folder with the two PAK files. Just copy ID1 to another Quake folder outside of Steam, choose your source port and place the executable file(s) into your new Quake folder. Play with mods after you have successfully run and configured your Quake port of choice. Just follow instructions given by the mod creator. If you want to try another source port, to avoid conflicts just create another Quake folder, copy ID1 with pak0/pak1 and start over. Steam Community :: Guide :: Quake Engines, Old and New

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR NVIDIA GPU OWNERS
:
An important message for owners of Nvidia GPUs. The last few sets of Nvidia Display drivers have broken the engine's graphics when shadow mapping is enabled (soft shadows) causing black square glitches to appear all over the screen. Shadow mapping has to be disabled to remove these glitches, however, it makes the game even more taxing as shadow mapping made the game run faster, but Nvidia doesn't seem to care and have not addressed this issue in any subsequent driver updates. It's highly likely that a fix may never arise. ... Quake HD Remix has become unplayable for me.

I just finished playing through the two official mission packs that were released for Quake back in the day. I had never played them before despite having played the original campaign more than once. It feels refreshing to go back to an FPS game with no overbearing story or cutscenes with gameplay that is still frenetic and addictive over two decades on.

I used Quakespasm for the source port as I don't care for the ones providing serious graphical changes all that much (had used Tenebrae back when that was hot).

Nice! I still haven't played those packs. I own them. Physical original discs, and in Steam, but just never found the time, (or remembered to try them when I did have time). Maybe after my No Man's Sky playing dies down after the update tomorrow, I'll pop those on, and give them a play through.

I like a mid-range graphic overhaul, so I'll probably go with Darkplaces. I can't remember if I tried Quakespasm or not before, but I'll check it out before I decide on a port.

I also never played the Quake 2 expansions, (and own those as well) so I may need to do that too. The last ports I used for that were Quake2Evolved and Quake2Max, both of which are probably dead now. I'll need to find a good newer one.

I filled out the driver survey to Nvidia. I also signed up to Hardforum but can't reply to the QuakeHD Remix thread or any other thread.

Must be due to a anti spamming thing in the forums.

Thanks for the link. I'm glad Nvidia are looking into the problem. As soon as the problem is fixed I will update the Quake HD Remix page to inform other Pascal users which driver to use.
