The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project has just been updated to version 5.1. The purpose of the mod is to overhaul the world textures in the game while preserving the game's original style. The Witcher 3 was a graphical masterpiece when it was released and is still a beautiful game. This mod by Halk Hogan ramps up the visual feast to another level! With 1.2 million downloads and 4.5 million views, it is worth giving it a chance if you own the game.

How much does this modification affect performance?
It mainly depends on your video card, but generally modification doesn't hit performance too much. Modification requires minimum a 2GB VRAM for smooth game-play. For best results 3GB is recommended. Possible decrease in fps are 0-5 which depend on pc spec, game settings and in-game location. On GTX 970/AMD R9 290X and higher there should be no fps drop. Also in some cases, modification can give smoother game-play.

i'm currently 160hrs into witcher 3.. about half way through Blood & Wine at the moment. juggling all the mods can be a bit of a pain - hopefully this update plays nice! had previous version installed already so fingers crossed ;)

Blood and Wine is in my Hall of Fame. That and wherever the one you go into the story book. Holy crap.

Haven't touched the expansions yet, played the og to completion. Should I restart or reload?

I'm always impressed how modders manage to get higher image quality with minimal performance impact. Heck, a Fallout 4 landscape improvement mod increases the landscape while using less vram.

You can do either. CDPR designed the expansions to be played either before completing the main quest or after. If you do the expansions first, NPCs will comment on some stuff but nothing major.

Really struggling not to give in to another play through. Man I love this game. If I ever end up like Capt. Pike just leave me VR'd to this.

What's the chances CDPR will release a remastered version of W3 in a few years? Are they known to do this with any of their games?

I wanted to start fresh but wasn't ready at the time, felt I would be OP from my endgame save (when I say completion, I mean I did everything).

You won't be overpowered. Did you play it on Deathmarch difficulty? If not try that.

Probably after Cyberpunk releases. Free of course to those who own it already. Or maybe they will release it the same time Cyberpunk comes out that would be cool.

Nice. Been putting a few hours per week on v5.0. Sounds like a good upgrade here. 8GB VRAM on 1070Ti is plenty.

If I had to choose, I would choose Hunt Showdown.

man i have 100hrs in it and didnt finish the main game yet, dont know why i keep postponing it, and i m hearing great things about the 2 expansions.

i m playing it now in 3d vision on an OLED 55 and its jaw dropping really, if u think it looked good before try it in 3d vision with the Helixmod (community 3d fix) .

Thanks a lot for this, perfect timing. I just finished the main game after 200 hours and am getting ready to start Hearts of Stone. What a truly epic experience! I'm glad I waited so long to play through it. So much fun slicing through Drowners on ultra 1440p at 150 fps!

Much like VALVE, CDPR makes a TON of money on their back catalogue. Until the sales for witcher 3 (which are still pretty steady) decline into nothing, they won't touch it. Besides, they are one of only a few companies that are willing to make games they want to play, with a AAA budget. Until they can no longer sustain that objective, we probably won't see a W3 remake/retexture type deal. I'd say at minumum 5-10 years.

I thoroughly enjoyed Witcher 3 on PS4, and I wanted to play it again on PC, but the mouse sensitivity issue that still isn't fixed makes it difficult. Now this mod makes me want to play it again even more. Anybody know if there's a mod for the mouse problems?

Can't get it to work. It installed but there is no option for it in the menu. Checked the forums and it is a common question that nobody seems to want to answer.

Just download it manually. Create a "mods" folder in your Witcher 3 directory, drag and drop the main files there.

Why is that not in the directions or a sticky in the forums? Jeez.

It is kind of. They should have given better instructions though. I hate when modders dont give clear and concise instructions ;/

From Nexus Mods Installation guide:
Uninstallation:
Just use uninstaller which is located in your Witcher 3 Main Folder or in Control Panel (Program Uninstall).
If you installed HDRP manually, to uninstall go to your Witcher 3 Main Folder/mods and delete folder "modHDReworkedProject" and optionally (if you installed Halk's Ultra HD Config) restore original game config from your Witcher 3 Main Folder/Config backup.

Huh. I had it installed correctly but had other mods I had installed previously. So I need to reinstall with the option to make it a priority.

Edit: Yeah. That worked.

W2 was the game that originally got me into 3d gaming. Played it on a 1080p/120hz Asus NV 3dVision enabled monitor. W3 actually has a compatibility mode thru NV 3dVision that looks pretty good too. Played it on a the 1440p/3d/144hz/g-sync monitor w/ my TI rig. Haven't tried the Helix mod. Used 'em for some other game that I can't remember right now but not this one.

Gave up on not trying to do another play thru again. Play tested this in 4k and 1440p and wow! Another 100+ hrs about to go into it again. Ought to keep me busy until the flood of games in the fall/winter.

Have had the game in my backlog for a while.. Sounds like it may be time to break it out. I put a few hours into it when I first bought it, but that was it.

I honestly don't think I've enjoyed a more fleshed out universe since i turned 12 and played Chrono trigger for the first time on the SNES. Of course TW3 is wholly more dark and adult, the narration and gameplay (especially in the two expansions) is masterful. Give it 15 hours and then i suppose you can make a good judgement. I didn't like it at first either, and now ive read all the books!

Awesome - I bought W3 last year during a Steam sale. I haven't played it yet - it's on my list.
I still have an Nvidia 970 GPU - will try this out after I upgrade it (not sure when - probably be 2019).

FYI, the game doesn't REALLY get started until you leave White Orchard.

Exactly this. I have a buddy that never got out of WO and said he never really got into it. Just plain didn't give it enough time. Makes me sad, he's REALLY missing out.

Once you leave WO and wrap up your chit-chat scenes shortly after leaving, the entire game opens up BIG TIME.

I was in the same boat, and I had 0 issues with playing the whole game over just to get to the expansion packs I purchased later on steam, idk, I just loved the game so much. If you're OP like I was when you beat the game, I'd definitively start one over and get into the expansions around lvl 35 or so so it's not a cake-walk.

Side Note: I can't WAIT to try out this mod pack, damn that looks so good.

Chrono Trigger is one of my favorites as well. Loved my SNES growing up. I'll give this another go.
