if the stuff on that board is an indicator of how a GPU card works then, quiet frankly, I really don't need to know. But what I would like to know is how he got all that up on the board in the first place ...

Considering the image is from a movie: lots of interns or a green screen with a blown up image. There were large chalkboards in universities back in the day, but I don't know if they ever got that big. They used ladders that were on rails you could move to different areas so you could reach the higher points.

The boards themselves could be lowered and raised. I thought that's how it worked everywhere.

heh, for 3D acceleration of APIs with my basic understanding they use proprietary implementations of like OpenGL and DirectX that is written into hardware langauges like Verilog or VHDL ... and then synthesized... i tried just implementing a single OpenGL function via High Level Synthesis through Xilinx from the Mesa3D Library and it just ended up being a giant rabbit hole of libraries. Very difficult even to accelerate the most basic function

There are 1000s or super Nintendo’s shrunk down and put in the GPU. When you load a game, they all turn in and make the graphics.
