Although it doesn't really add anything new, I really enjoyed playing through Darksiders II again with the new Deathinitive Edition. But it appears as if the remaster is being used for a higher purpose -- re-igniting interest for Darksiders III.

According to a post from a developer by way of the Steam forums, "Deathinitive Edition was just the start." The post goes on to state, "we were looking for options for doing a DS3. The remaster was just a way to get some spotlight on the franchise again, reactivate the community and have a better starting position for DS3."

It sounds like all is going according to plan so far. I'm a big proponent of more Darksiders, and I've love to see the story conclude one day. It would be a long time in the making, but if it happens at all, that's fine with me.

I really enjoyed the last one although the ending was underwhelming. Still have to play the first which is languishing in my backlog (along with several hundred other games).

You know what it's the Roman Numeral 3 that didn't turn up in my search cause I typed in Darksiders all I got was people selling keys.

When I'm searching for a game-specific thread on this forum, I just make sure to search thread titles only; that greatly cleans up search results.

THQ Nordic shows off $400 USD Apocalypse Edition. Includes 10" statues of all 3 horsemen to-date, a statue of Vulgrim, a necklace, 30"x40" Fury wall scroll, hardbound (full size?) artbook, soundtrack, and steelbook packaging for the game. Breaking with the trend, this edition will be available for the PC version in addition to the console versions.

The Collector's Edition comes in at $150. This one includes a 10" statue of Fury, soundtrack, artbook (softbound?), and steelbook packaging for the game.

Preorders for all versions can be made directly from THQ.

This is the only AAA title i'm remotely excited for. I just hope they deliver.

The hype keeps building! THQ releases a video showing off Fury's Flame Hollow power.

They must follow the Hard Forum =P At least you have different weapons besides the whip I wonder if they made it serrated so you can follow the pattern in which the whip whips. If I was to design it I would just have a Angelic whip with trails so it doesn't look all hard looking like the 1st game's character War and his sword.

Yeah I don't know about that whip animation ;P Maybe you will get used to it after a while or after it's powered up.....

The sword sound in Darksiders 1 is mind numbing after a while they toned it down in Darksiders 2.

I...

can actually agree with that. The sound design in the first game did get on my nerves a bit. I understand what they were going for, but did everything War do really have to sound like it had the weight of a 20 ton trailer behind it?

What do you guys hope for these games? Honestly, I bought the 2nd game when it first came out on Xbox and ended up trading it in. The game was actually brilliant, big dungeons, cool characters. The thing is, it was super repetitive and boring. I later bought it on Steam and again on XBone. I got further the 2nd time around but ended up abandoning it again.

I need more narrative, and something to give some... I don't know... up's and down's in pace I guess. It just felt very flat to me. Reaching the next place never felt like an achievement. I don't know what the first game was like although I always thought it looked awesome, I just skip a lot of games because I don't have enough time to play when the kids aren't watching, you know?

The first darksiders game felt like a hybrid zelda/god of war title, with the puzzle type dungeons you see in zelda games with hack and slash gameplay similar to the earlier gow titles. It was a mashup of genres you didn't see anywhere on PC at the time, so it was not surprising it was a hit on the PC platform.

When the first game came out for the PS3 it did pretty well mixed in Joe Mad's art style for the game. It was interesting enough to watch on a stream for me to pick it up a few days later.
Basically the game is a senceless button masher but maybe they changed it up for Darksiders 3 to make it interesting. War the main character for the 1st game looked cool and whever you defeated a Boss and got a better weapon or move to expand the level further. I think Darksiders came out around or shortly after after Demon Souls hit it out of the park.

It’s only a senseless button masher if you don’t play it on a more difficult setting.

I think the Whip is going to have some vertigo with Indian Jones like canyons to swing across I hope there is alot of them.

My biggest gripe with the games is that most enemies and bosses are damage sponges. It takes way too long to kill a lot of enemies and you get no real sense of challenge or accomplishment out of it. Other than that, I have to disagree with your assessment about it being boring. Granted, some of it felt repetitive due to the length of the game and reused, low-quality assets everywhere (a curse of being a console-only game at the time). But it had all the key gameplay aspects of a good action adventure game like Zelda, only with a more "serious" tone. I also got a Soul Reaver vibe from the first game, which made it easier to pull me in.

I quite enjoyed DS2 if only because the loot system mixed things up and the combat was the closest analog to God of War available on PC. Man, I would be so down for the God of Wars to be released on PC, I am half contemplating picking up a PS4 Pro one day just to play that game.

Pepsi commercial it's the hair feel bad for that guy who has a whole bunch of cement on his back with chains.
