Perfect time to post this since we're discussing mining. Featuring behind the scenes interviews with some of the devs spearheading its implementation and also some lore side coverage of the Prospector.

Mmmm, that's the one ship I want but I can't justify melting ships for it. I thought about upgrading the Hull E, but I'm conflicted haha

Hull-E is gonna be a money maker for you, I'd definitely keep that. The Hammerhead on the other hand is a total money sink since it can't do much other than combat. Also since you have a Hull-E you're gonna get a whole slew of loaner upgrades as they are released. They recently upgraded you to get the Reclaimer as loaner where before you got a Starfarer.

Just to add, I'm not against all the added waste either. The way I'm understanding it at the moment is once you mine you have 2 items in your inventory. X% of mixed/raw ore and then waste material that contains zero ore percentage. I think the first value is fine since it's not actually pure ore. The waste material seems like if its actually identified waste should be able to be expelled. This should be done with the filtration system in the prospector, wich then leaves the door open for cheaper starter mining that can only collect with larger waste collection like we currently have. The prospector could have some kind of spectril analysis built in as well to help filter.

Now if I'm wrong, and it's not separating them in inventory, so the ore listed is pure and the waste material is just the bonded and/or unsiftable material then it should be listed as one item in inventory otherwise it gives the impression that you're just gathering garbage. If this is also the case then I feel they may need to modify the mining time/payload recovery rate because right now it seems like I gather way to fast as a solo player vs the travel times.

Once you get back to a port to sell you do have waste and whatever ore you mined to sell so I am hopeful the filtration system is coming. Just would have been nice to have it as a mention

This POS is still a POS.

I spent some (a lot of) time RE-DL'ing & installing the new launcher today & then did the same with the new version SC ALPHA 3.2

Launched and waited for 30 minutes before deciding to say FTS.

I got scammed out of $50.

Whoa Lorien, that was amazing. I hopped on a bit earlier this week and ran my Avenger around and lost it somewhere (thank got for recovery), and took the Mustang out to a relay that had some people loudly proclaiming that they were shooting anything that moved near a certain relay. They took a wing before I could spin to a clear vector but the Mustang (minus a few hundred kilos) has crazy acceleration! I may putter around this week and see what's up with armor and small arms- is that still aimbotted out of any fun?

And Talk2Troy; Are you having game issues, or just don't like it?
I just saw the hardware edit- you should have zero issues running and that resolution, I almost pulled acceptable QHD with a (watercooled) ATI 7970, admittedly medium/low settings.

Game issues as in zero tutorial, failure to load, repeat load, if it ever loads = 12-30 FPS slide show, etc.

Finally met a guy who took me for a ride to pick up a moon buggy & it was both beautiful & a shit show / slide show.

Got the buggy, but also got lost (no in game map?), got rescued by his buddy, got then stuck in his cargo hold & quit.

I need to redownload and see how it is now. I haven't tried it since 2.0.

Starcraft: Ghost > Star Citizen

Having been an alpha tester for Ghost, I have to disagree. SC is way ahead of what Ghost had to offer...but really, that still isn't saying much.

It is not a game - it is a 6 year old alpha tech demo slide show.

The dev changed game engines 3 times already so it will take another 6 years to even reach beta.

It will be a beta for 6 more years & change engines 2 more times (x) multiplied by 3 years each = another 6 alpha / beta years.

They plan to release a production version in 12 more years - but it might take 18 years...

Once the game reaches production status, it is expected to to take 6 years to get patched to a stable release.

Fuck this shit...

I remember battle cruiser.

Timelapse of delivery missions

And some Daymar Rally practice runs for grav lev bikes

And a typical RUTO mission, he's the unlockable lawless mission giver at Grim Hex. The background humming at the start is from a Reclaimer someone left near the landing pads lol.

Curiously I also tried the 'game' recently again. My last attempt was 1.5 years ago. But based on the fanboys description it is always 90% finished. I expect maybe 20% and then reality sets in around 4-5%. So I guess I'm back to waiting another 12-16 months for another 1% progress. At this pace it might even start to look like an actual game by the time humanity achives FTL travel.

It's worse then that - IMO he's sunk so much cash into the game that he can't admit it and spends pretty much every waking moment posting about / looking at his 'investment'. It's sad honestly.

Right? I mean, How dare he enjoy breaking an Alpha to make it better! The nerve!

No- it's not close to finished. No, it will never satisfy you. No, we don't care about your opinions.

No, it will never satisfy you.
So you admit it'll never be an actual complete game that has a clear starting point, proper exposition, proper tutorials, and guidance for new players?

I don't care that you like it, after all there are some right weird fetishes. What bugs the lot of us, is that you refuse to acknowledge the fact that the development is years behind schedule, and it is still at least 3-5 years(in capable hands, with CR at the helm multiple that by 3) from becoming a game worth playing (not testing).

I know reading is hard. I said that YOU will never be satisfied. I have gotten enough hours out of what I paid for it to be good, and enjoyed myself. It is years behind schedule and that doesn't get me spun up. I told them (along with 90+% of the backers) to do it slow, and am paying the penalty / reaping the benefits.

If you don't like this game, go away.

The problem is that this is some sort of pre-alpha version of what may one day be "a game" - but they are still selling all kinds of future in-game assets and there's a few on here plugging that shit every time something new becomes available. It'd be like if WoW had some playable pre-alpha but all you could do was run around and maybe hit some stuff, but Blizzard kept offering epic new gear for people to buy "to be used at some later date." Um, how about you release some semblance of an actual game with the money we kickstarted you with before trying to bilk these nerds out of hundreds or thousands of dollars?

Proof of concept-level stuff is not "a game" no matter if you feel you somehow got your money's worth.

What flavor is that kool-aid? Sour grape or sour lemon?

So you told them personally, to blow the original backer money on, well blow, whores, expensive sports cars, and a completely unnecessary moving development to another state into a damn expensive office? And then invent a scheme of selling concept art, while doing nothing but placeholder level implementation of features?

Ah what benefits are those you're reaping?

If you don't like this game, go away
You'd like that wouldn't you? But as it stands I have just as much business being in here as you do, if not more. You see I paid for the game too, and I was paying for SQ42 primarily, which as far as I Know doesn't exist at all. They basically stole my money, and spent it on a ton of concept art I never asked for, and never wanted.
So I think I'm pretty damn reserved under the circumstances. Only pointing out the clear mismanagement, and the fact that a dozen competent people could've achieved what we see now in 3.2 in around 12-16 months, from a tenth of the budget they started with.
