Pioneer SP-T22A-LR Atmos Add-On speakers reverberating

Im getting excessive reverberating with my Pioneer atmos add-ons. At times it sounds great, but other times the echo is repeated so many times its insane. This happens with both native Atmos content and other upscaled audio with Dolby Surround. Do I need to reduce the DB for these speakers or is this normal?

I did calibrate with the mic that came with my Onkyo TX-NR575 btw.
 
Shoot, I haven't even set mine up yet- but do note that they're supposed to reflect. Once, hopefully ;).
 
lol yea but I was talking about your side walls not ceiling :p

You could try putting something on your ceiling to cut down on the top reflection, you might be getting overlap.

What would you suggest I put up there?
 
I assume you aren't talking about physical echoes like standing in a canyon or something. You are talking about the speaker actually playing the sound repeatedly (reverb in the signal, like a DSP "Cathedral" effect)? In a normal living room, once there is furniture, there should be minimal perceived echos.

atmos doesn’t get the benefit of furniture as it’s radiating directly on you. In ceiling doesn’t have this problem but the kind that sit on top your speakers often overlap.

I lowered the db on the atmos speakers a few notches and now it sounds much better.

They apparently were calibrated for +9 +8 respectively.
 

Are you using an Onkyo receiver by any chance? If so, disable AccuReflex. Resolved the same issue for me.

Pioneer Elite 7.1.2 here- actually just hooked mine up with the Pioneer Atmos and surround and back channels. First test with the built-in calibration went pretty well, didn't get massive boost settings for the height channels as mentioned above, and testing with the Jurassic World UHD DTS:X disc was fairly impressive until my aging 8" Klipsch sub got overrun.

To that end, I got a 12" sub in and an inline crossover, going to try and integrate both subs by having the 12" handle the really low stuff and the 8" sub handle 'upper lows', like 70Hz-150Hz, so I can keep its volume up without bottoming it out on the deep stuff.

That may be a stupid idea, but it's my stupid idea, and I'm going to try it and see- then rerun the calibrator and test again :D

I live to serve my good sir.

That feature intends to make up for timing differences in the audio based on speaker distance differences. It works terribly unfortunately and what you end up hearing are very similar sounds coming from both the fronts/surrounds and the atmos speakers a good dozen ms or so out of sync.
