The Crew 2 Video Card Performance Review

We take The Crew 2 and evaluate ten of today’s latest GPUs in the game. We will find what the highest playable settings are, how video cards compare, and how specific graphics features compare in performance. We will find the best value for gaming, and what graphics settings work best. Is this game worth it, or a graphical flop?

1080 Ti performance pretty much matches my experience with the beta. Interesting that there is hardly any performance scaling with the different quality settings. I wonder what is going on under the hood. Maybe it is due to the need for the engine to keep the physics engine synced as is mentioned in the summary, but why would the minimum framerate be nearly identical in that case?

I think some of the issues Ubisoft games are showing are due to them trying to show more and more detail on the consoles while keeping performance acceptable. The hardware split is probably making matters worse for multiplatform titles.

The first game always had major stuttering issues for me no matter what I tried settings-wise. It would be smooth as butter and then it would turn into a stuttery mess with certain turns. There didn't seem to be much rhyme or reason for it either. Lowering details and the resolution never helped either. Their forums showed lots of people with similar issues, but I don't think there ever were any true fixes.
I kinda liked the game otherwise, but that (and the constant push to buy the DLC) drove me away from it. I'm a little curious how this one works.

I'm not seeing a resolution scaling option in the settings shown in the review. Is there a setting for that anywhere?

Resolution scaling is not an available option, if I recall correctly.

The first game had the same stuttering issue on the console version.

Sound like "consolittis" have hit this game....I suspect we will see this more...pronounced... as PC hardware gets more and more powerfull over the consoles (It's a natural cycle every generation)...

What is interesting to me here is the match-up between the gtx1080 and the Vega64. Like they have done in the past, AMD cards just seem to get better as they mature their drivers while Nvidia cards are pretty much full performance out of the gate. In most reviews I have seem lately the Vega64 is matching or beating the gtx1080. Still, the 1080s are selling for ~$100 less.

Worth a read ;)

Should I assume that the 8GB versions of the 580 and 570 and the 6GB version of the 1060 were used?
