EA kicked off its closed alpha today for Battlefield V. This is a nice video to give you a look since it does not have a bunch of people not shutting the eff up and letting us watch the gameplay.

Check out the gameplay.

Here's 7 minutes of epic Grand Operations gameplay on the Narvik map in Battlefield V.

Still doing that regenerating health shit?

Yeah, though it's more restricted in Bf5: There are health bar-segments, and the health-regen will only auto-heal up to the next health bar.

I expect there will still be server options to disable auto health-regen. But if the custom server design is like it was for Bf1, then there won't be many custom servers out there, just like there were practically none for Bf1.

least from the video, these games just never have that large scale feel anymore like 1942/2/2142 had. It always seem more geared towards mostly infantry with a few vehicles thrown in.

I stopped playing (PC) battlefield games at BF3/BC2. the console got a hold of them.

Not impressed, looks like every other BF out there. 4 was the last one I really liked, played a whole lot of that one.

I vaguely remember/recognize this map from what ever BF game it was previously from.

this looks exactly nothing like anything ive seen in school or 2000s history channel. i mean there are guns in the video and i admit that ww2 DID involve some firearms.

One thing about this when you're playing it.....it really doesn't feel \ seem like WW2. Usually you fire up a WW2 game and know what to expect and get it, with this not so much.

Maybe its the map, maybe its the character models, maybe its the fact both sides have the same weapons (even the allies can call in a v1 strike and have stg44 assault rifles).

Just something about it that feels very UN-WW2 like. Yes you have the tanks and planes and currently tanks get fucked up big time by infantry that have 3 or 4 panzerfaust shots each as assault (which seems to be the class the majority play), its literally SPAMZERFAUST central if you get spotted while in a tank.

Planes currently are fucking useless, they have very little impact on the ground battle so they're essentially left to do the standard battlefield "circle wars" dog fighting against each other.

I'm hoping the beta later in the year has a different map that has more of a WW2 vibe, i just don't get it at all currently in this.

Real world locations do not exist in Dice's version of WWII.

A lot of people whined that one soldier should be able to knock out a tank, even though there is vastly more infantry than tanks per map. They also whined that there were too many vehicles per map (TDM/DOM existed for a reason). Probably why BF1 was so vehicle sparse. BFV needs to go back to the way BF3/4 did things. That means 4-6 MBTs and 2-3 other armored vehicles per map.

Fuck sitting on your ass at spawn waiting for a vehicle and small maps. If you want to play infantry only, TDM & Domination were designed for that. BF4 practically felt like two games to me and I played both types of servers.

Its funny that this has some of the same shit that bf1 had. Ever click on a tank icon at the spawn and when you configure it and hit deploy you find some other fucker has somehow got it ahead of you? Still happens in this. It's like as soon as you try and config it the icon again opens up so someone else can grab it. You cant actually config them currently but it happens even when you're clicking between the available tanks.

You also still have the random black screen when you're firing a shot in a tank. =/

been wasting hour upon hour on the phone with EA tech support over the coarse of the last two weeks and they still haven't attached my paid-for DLC to the game (that used to have it attached but no longer does)

No way I'll buy another EA title until the problem is solved and I'm not going to call them anymore which means - no more purchases for me regarding any EA titles

Give us a real fps with community run servers and mods. Who's going to step up to the plate like the good ol' days.
Only a company that wants to go bankrupt. The good old days of the early/mid2000s are a bygone era. Stakes are way higher now in the era of AAA production budgets in tens or even hundreds of millions. There's no profit in letting a kid play god kicking anyone that kills him off a game server on his spare PC running free mods and maps.

Bethesda seems to be doing ok with allowing mods. Not exactly the same I know.

I do know is that BF2 and BF3 sure seemed popular compared to the rest of the series. I also remember practicing for matches in private servers with 63 other people. All very engaged and enjoying the experience. Now? I am lucky to get a friend to pub with me.

This is BF1 with WW2 skins and weapons.
Need something new and different.

^^^ This.. is exactly what I came away with after watching the video. I was really hoping for Bad Company.... got same shit BF1 gameplay with early WW2 skins. Looks like BF4 is going to be on my main rig for some time to come.

I'm enjoying it, but it is just Battlefield, with few improvements. It could easily just be a huge expansion pack. But I get why companies decide to release the same game with just different maps as a whole new game.

It's pretty fine in BF, it takes a good while to regen and you generally can't start recovering in combat since it stops if you've been hit recently or are suppressed.

It's even more gimped in BF5 since health is segmented.

Two things I don't like from what I see:

1) The guns are held sideways. It was the same in BF1, but seems even the rifles are tiled sideways a lot. It just looks odd, and I'm not sure why they do it?

2) Reload animations look artificially sped up. It looks very cartoony. BF3/4 had some of the best reload animations to date, if not still the best for any shooter on the market. BFV looks like a big step backwards here and looks more like CoD quality.

It doesn't feel like BF1 at all. TKK is half of that from BF1, and really close to hardcore TKK which makes you think twice running around like Rambo. The low ammo you start with runs out fast, especially when I just started playing but now I switch to single shot on the STG at further distances and I always pick up ammo from dead enemies.
The revive stuff is great now and it takes quite a while to get people back on their feet. I was playing as assault(not medic) last night and I got 14 revives on my squad mates and teammates during the match without taking a bullet while doing it. Playing smart really rewards you now. Instead of the mindless shooting that is BF1.
The weapon recoil/shooting has been totally changed from previous battlefields and it works much better. People in here saying it's a reskin without even touching the game probably haven't played any battlefield since BF3.

Also people complaining about both sides using same weapons.. There is 6 weapons in the closed alpha and 4 classes.. Keep that in mind.

Played every BF since 1942.... so I think I have a decent basis for an opinion. The video looks like a reskin of BF1.. we;ll see what real gameplay "feels" like.. but i hated the fuck outta BF1 so much I barely touched it.

Did anyone else notice that the snow was all physics based? IS NICE!
