Sometimes a picture speaks louder than words and in this case it's true. AMD has a target rich environment when you think about all of the missteps Intel has been guilty of lately. Meltdown/Spectre, 10nm fab failures, CEO dipping his wick where it doesn't belong and the list goes on. You have to click the pic to see what I'm talking about. Thanks for emailing this to us Lee Dang.

Check out the picture here.

Honestly nice to see amd be able to do this AND back it up. INtel rested on their laurels for too long and now they're taking it in the ass.

Not sure comparing your competitors product to something that basically built modern civilization is the best idea, but I guess it's a step up from ripping off a cold war slogan.

In a way it honors Xeon for being so integral as a server CPU series up until this point, but points out the truth that like anything it can be either one upped or upped entirely in many different ways.

Every dog has it's day.

You mean replace a proven solution with a vanity, virtue signaling, can only compete when propped up by government pipe dream? I half kid because I think it is admirable for so called green solutions but if it is truly a viable alternative then the free market will allow it thrive and send coal the way of the horse and buggy.

I'm happy AMD stepped it up a bit but meh. This is a full blown Apple Vs IBM slug festival again.

They really don't need to throw low blows to appease the warring hardware psychotics on certain forums I've completely stopped bothering to post on.

First we get the commie radeon revolution and now sand throwing.

Intel will inevitably step it up as always when AMD finally shakes the market up, then these pics become memes while everybody goes back to hating AMD.

A true badass stomps his opponent and simply looks the other way with a blank stare!!

I see the analogy as this:

Coal used to power everything. It heated our homes, it powered the trains, it powered the ships, it powered all of industry.
There are better things than coal now. Diesel, Nuclear, Natural gas. The only thing left that is "coal powered" is electricity, and depending on location, it isn't even the best for that. Coal's had it's day, but it really is time to move along to better things.

Intel used to power everything in the computer world. But there are better things available, especially since Intel hasn't been able to properly innovate or improve anything over the last few years. AMD is working to fill that void.

We only switched from Opteron's to Xeon's because AMD didn't have a product in the server market for the longest time. Whats funny is that I see inertia keeping us on Xeon's now.

I'd agree with you somewhat if the deck wasn't stacked against renewables BY those companies. Regulatory Capture IS a thing, and I'm not sure how we even managed to get some protections in place for renewables against that big-money backdrop.

LOL... like the coal industry doesn't receive billions in subsidies, tax breaks and basically free leases of public lands? Free market indeed.

It's kind of lol... but AMD has had just as many fuckups (if not more than) Intel has had.

Not really sure if its good marketing or not, it doesn't tell me any strengths of Ryzen vs Xeon.. I get a chuckle but that's about it.

Plus, when they fall flat on their face next time, or when intel releases yet another cpu that 1-up's AMD, is it then just Intel's turn to shit talk AMD? It just looks bad if you ask me, for either to do something public like that.

It's called fun marketing, to which the Mad Men boys are having a blast with at the moment. I sorta envy those guys at the moment because they actually probably look forward coming into work for a change.

Yeah well AMD will drop the ball as usual poor support poor drivers etc. Intel will end up kicking AMD to the curb again......

Other things on the list to include: open markets, fair competition, technology improvements.

I think it’s funny as hell.

For the first time in a very long time we actually have some legitimate spirited competition in the cpu space. No longer are people considering AMD just because it’s cheaper. In fact TR2 may be both cheaper and better! Eagerly awaiting the [H] review to find out.

Also, if this wake up call gets Intel off their ass and forces a new arch free of security issues and still fast ? We all win. Fanboys and sane people alike. Intel will have to be better to keep those prices up or equivalent and competitively priced.

Exciting stuff.

Yet, AMD is still not really getting to far. Sure they're gaining ground, kinda.. But depending on performance Intel still with its issues is where it's at. AMD is FINALLY Helping drive products by actually starting to be competitive... I just hope that it actually lasts... AMD's gpu segment however, is a full blown disgrace.

That is the job of developers to properly optimize their software. A crappy software will still run crappy no matter the hardware.

yes it is. but the hardware feature must also be easy to take advantage of.

AMD might want to be careful about already claiming snark creds when their newly competitive CPUs have only been around five minutes.

Keep kicking ass for a solid four to eight quarters and then worry about end zone dances.

Meantime I look forward to Intel's response.

I remember AMD was full of life during the A64 Venice years. For that brief 3 years, it seemed AMD could do no wrong. Even the server processor was kicking ass. And meanwhile, Intel was even doing its best to literally burn up every PC equipped with its processor.

Hopefully this time AMD has its act together and will last quite a bit longer and be competitive. A decade is a long time.

What should they do then? Go to church and pray or something? Cautiously promote Ryzen and Epyc in community centers?

This time they have lisa su, and not hector leaving ruins.
