Hey all, take this for what it is, but here goes...

Based on a hunch that Nvidia would coincide their 400.xx series graphics drivers with the release of their new cards, I decided to plot driver version versus release date to see when we'd cross into the 400's.

Sure enough, it's just 9 days after the rumoured July 30th!

Frankly, that seals it for me. Announcement on July 30th, cards and drivers out the first week of August.

You can't argue with the stats! :p:LOL:

Sure are a whole lot of EVGA GTX 1070 FTW cards on eBay at the moment and for $350 or there about.

I'm guessing that when the new card series is released that they will sell for $150 to $225 over MSRP and perhaps cost even more and that for non FE models and miners will wipe out stocks within a week or two

I blame it on instant gratification that a pc can offer a person a new card won't help that person especially if the drivers are wonky.

Its just manipulation on the highest level by the users of PCs who are not content with anything.

I think there are many benefits when going from say an EVGA GTX 970 SSC to an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW such as (with no OC):

- runs much cooler
- runs MUCH quieter (970 @ 60% fan if you want under 70C while gaming - fans sound like a jet engine)
- game runs smoother, no freezing, no pausing and helps games load faster for some reason since loading is CPU dependent
- better resale value due to remaining warranty
- Saves on electric bill

so upgrading is not always about being unsatisfied though I do agree with you it does tend to be the case more times than not (I remember when "I got GAS" was popular here. If memory serves, I think it stood for Got to Acquire Syndrome)

A 1080 will help you save on the electric bill? Lol the 1080 uses nearly the same wattage as the 970 and even the difference between a 1080 ti and 1060 in normal usage would not make any measurable difference in you power bill.

I think its going to be in at least a few more months.Simply because as a content creator i tend to monitor the quadros time frame and normally a quadro 6000 series tend to be released before a gaming gpu.On the other hand i just saw a few hours ago, new desktop and mobile workstations being prepared from dell and hp using curent pascal gpus and W pro gpus.It makes no sence for the to release those PCs just so that in less than a month they will be antics. But stranger things have hapened.

Just updated the chart to include the latest driver release. It's now predicting a little sooner! :p

Btw, I believe I said "new cards", that could be just a Pascal refresh!

Just imagine if they just blatantly and lazily did that in 2 weeks time!:ROFLMAO:

If the nvidia CEO isn't bullshitting us then I have no reason to think it's going to be very soon.

That question he was responding to specifically mentioned Volta, so he wouldn't be bullshitting were it a Pascal refresh.

Pascal with GDDR6, but gimped memory bus widths for the initial releases...

Why release that though? Just wait for AMD and then throw it out there. The 10 series is still selling well.

Unbelievable that Nvidia hasn't released new products in over 2.5 years! WTF already why wonder people are itching to get new cards.

And the news that AMD will not release another video card until 2019. Geeezus we are tired of old video cards, and the complete lack of innovation from these companies. And the prices are still higher than MSRP.

This shit will drive any PC gamer mad.

Apparently there's been a Vulkan Driver released, updated again.

*squints* roughly Tuesday 7th August now.

Fun fact

The Titan X (Pascal) was surprise released on Tuesday 2nd August 2016. (y)

Of course after all my complaining my prediction would be FE releases 9/1 and AIB's will be 10/1.

lol "moving on" as in "ill just ignore rather than acknowledge my mistake"...
miners make me angrier than product cycles.
