This was answersaa few posts above this. This might sound like a stupid question, but can the Steam Link play non Steam games? I have tons of Origin, Uplay, Blizzard, and other games. It's kind of useless if I can only play certain games from my library.
You can use the Steam Link to stream to your android phone.

The IOS version is coming soon after Valve and Apple find a middle ground.

You can have it operate as a remote desktop. I play all sorts of emulators on mine, among other games in and outside of SteamQuestion - only works for Steam games, correct? I could not use this to stream non-steam games or apps?
Moonlight uses Nvidia Streaming to stream to their software on a LAN and across the internet with some port forwards. Software runs on Android or windows. How does this compare to Moonlight?
USA only.
maybe US only? I can only add it to my wish list or follow it. I wanted one too...

Think I read that it only needs something like 30mb/s for a good stream which is why it works on any WiFi (providing your getting good signal). No reason to pay for a 1000mb port when its not neededGet the $5 off 30 from paypal if you are buying from steam too its on slickdeals to lazy to link
Add custom amount for wallet hack too if you don't want to pick anything up.
You can mix and match anything for $30, like a controller combo would work, or games,
Also lol at valve today was the first day I noticed steam links ethernet port is only "fast ethernet" 100 mbs.
Hmm.. I have one that I paid full price for when they first released.. had all sorts of problems with it so I stopped using it.. maybe there's been an update. Used to play rimworld on the big screen, worked great, until it didn't.. and then it'd just drop to desktop, and steam would crash.
What is your reference to the fire TV? Steam link can connect to a fire TV on another television? To give a little perspective on this - i bought one over christmas when it was on a similar offer in the UK - got the controller and steam link for £27
Just my $0.02 - steam link works great, seamless and easy to set up, and truth be told when i run over Ethernet to pc and steamlink - the input lag is negligible.
On the controller front, while its a good concept im not a huge fan of the haptic pads and kind of wish I hadn't bothered. The steam link supports ps3 and 4 controllers out the box I believe (im now using ps3 controller on steam link app on my fireHD10 tab - see below).
I am now also using the free steam link app for android (which i believe is coming out for ios shortly also, bit of a battle going on) - this works almost as well straight off, so if you have an amazon firetv for example and have the play marketplace, give that a go first as you may just end up with the same thing as a freebie, without additional boxes. Works great on even my slightly underpowered android tablet.
its a bargain at this price, althoguh shame the shipping is 3x the cost of the device - if I were you unless you have tried the controller and like it (and dont have a ps3, ps4 or xbox controller) - then i would pass on it.
I think this must boil down to networking components, TV/display, controllers, etc for this device. Thanks for the heads up Kyle! I owned a Steam Link for a while and will just toss out my own personally observed caveat; action games are not an ideal experience for this device. Playing games like Pinball Arcade had a jarring input latency. If you are doing turn based games or something along those lines it is fine. I suppose if you are not too picky, at this price, its hard to pass up.
It defaults to Steam Big Picture mode...but then there is an official option in Steam Big Picture to go to your desktop. I have successfully streamed Diablo 3 to the Steam Link for couch comfort.
yea i saw that during check out
only available in the usa continental USA 48 states ..did not question it since i am in one
?
Don't even try with multiplayer with the steam link or any streaming device for that matter in my opinion. I have a ethernet connection going to mine and there is to much lag time between the input of the controller/mouse and keyboard and the multiplayer game. At least thats been my experience with game streaming (both the steam link and Moonlight on a Raspberry Pi).
Steam link tariffs....that's bullshit! why cant canada get it cheap?!
I ordered a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ a few days ago and I was wondering if I could have Steam stream on it, just for shit and giggles. You got more first hand info?
