What game do you think should get a sequel or a remake?

Interstate '76

It was a car game set in a fictional seventies where the oil crisis never ended. It's kind of a non-post apocalyptic mad max.
The game's main appeal was the gameplay, the physics (for the time), the graphics, the open maps, and the salvage / upgrade mechanic. Basically you could collect wrecks after a fight and use those to upgrade / repair your car. I could say it was a mechwarrior / earthsiege but with cars instead of giant robots. But the cars in it would still use the same hardpoint mechanic that you could attach various weapons or upgrades to.

It used the Mechwarrior 2 engine- it didn't really feel like driving. It felt like flying around in fast Mechs. I did like the music, story, cutscene cinematics. But the actual driving part was a terrible failure for me.

What I want is a remake of Autoduel- but from a 1st person driving perspective. Just like Mechwarrior 2 implemented the FASA Battletech gaming universe- so should Steve Jackson Games' Car Wars rules be adapted for a 1st person combat driving sim.

Star Trek: Elite Force

Just please keep it in the TNG universe and none of this alternate timeline shit. I have no other prerequisites. Whoever is not too busy making online garbage should pick it up.

I had great fun with Elite Force back in day. I would be on board with this if they did something a la Star Wars: Republic Commando, telling a ground-pounder's story of the Klingon and Dominion War from Deep Space Nine. I wanna repel Jem'Hadar boarders on a starship.

Terminator: Future Shock / Skynet

Another opportunity for a shooter. This game was so far ahead it's time, that possibly that is what caused it's mild reception. The technology just wasn't ready for it. We didn't even have mouselook standardized.

If the Terminator franchise hadn't been dragged through the mud for the past 25 years- I'd say yes. But no one's going to want to retcon and pretend the last three movies didn't happen.

X-Wing / Tie Fighter / X-Wing Alliance

Basically a space sim in the star wars universe, sans space feminists, space peta, and hermits.

X-Wing Alliance was twenty years ago. I've given up hope that someone is going to create a Star Wars Space Sim. They'll be a game with X-Wings and TIE Fighters in it.... but it won't be a first-person space sim and it'll be dumbed down with power-ups like any FPS. I've made my peace with that.

But I would like to see Descent Freespace or Independence War come back. Those were great game universes to play in and the combat was vastly better than X-Wing's.

If I might add another.

Rally Championship 2000 - The last proper Rally game. I know there was Richard Burns Rally, and Dirt Rally since then, but those are not accurate enough. Both feature short condensed and unrealistic stages. This old game had proper special stages, with narrow country lanes, long winding roads, with some stages hitting 20-30km length. The average stage in Dirt Rally is what 3-4km long? With no proper repair mechanics. I mean in dirt rally the time it takes to repair a component is dependent on how worn it is. I don't know but I think it doesn't really matter how ruined a gearbox is it will still take the same amount of time to replace it. Which the old game did properly.

I've notined that I've listed a ton of racing games. There are no proper racing games nowadays. What little they make is arcade garbage.

The courses on that game were insanely good! Nice long A-B tracks with varied terrain. Still a favorite even though it looks horrible now :D

It also had a perfect blend of sim and arcade to it so that it took skill but was still FUN. Something a lot of sims miss.

So, I have been playing Black Mesa which is a very well-done recreation of the original Half Life and it got me thinking of FEAR and this thread. I would absolutely love a honest-to-goodness reboot of FEAR. The original. The game still holds up today in more ways than one, and a modern reboot of FEAR with all of our latest technology would be incredible (if they don't fuck it up).

I'm all for this! In fact, it would really only need to be a graphical overhaul. Otherwise the game plays great. The enemy AI is still among the better that I've played even today. They really wouldn't have to touch a thing except models, textures, and effects/post processing.

Definitely agree. A Graphical overhaul is all I would need, and if they remade it in a more modern engine it would be cool if the environments were more destructible like being able to blow holes in walls and stuff like Rainbow Six Siege but also have all the cool particle and lighting effects from the original FEAR. That'd be awesome. One of my favorite things to do in FEAR is to throw explosives around and see the result. Soooo satisfying.

Explosives, and the nail gun :D I loved pinning enemies to the walls creatively.

If I could only name one it'd be:

Skies of Arcadia
. A sequel would be fantastic, but I'd take an HD remake at this point too. After that I have a few other suggestions:

Ghost Recon
Call me crazy, but I want to see a Ghost Recon like the ones they had in the early 2000's, where you didn't even see a weapon on the screen, or have a ton of details on your HUD... you just had a reticle, your ammo count, and icons showing what weapon you had equipment, and if you were prone or not.

NFL 2KX

The National Football League giving their license to a single developer was a mistake, IMO.

Shining Force

A sequel would be nice, or even an HD remake of all three Shining Force III chapters/scenarios, since only the first one came to North America.

Toy Commander
With online play being so prevalent now, this game could be so much more fun with the graphics of today, and having even bigger, more open levels.

A proper Rainbow Six 2 sequel, not this modern FPS homogeneous garbage.

Xeno Clash 3, it was such a weird series, would love to see more.

The whole Jedi Knight series. The only problem is that the people who own the rights to produce the series are incompetent.

KoToR 1&2 would also be sweet, but same problem as above.

I wish they would make a real modern Mega Man game, a 3d FPS that doesn't suck. Same with Metroid Prime.

Also:
Metroid Prime
Urban \ Desert Strike
Star Fox Dinosaur Planet (Wasn't really a Star Fox game)
Age of Empires
Duke Nukem 3D
Half-Life
Bioshock (I only liked Infinite)
Far Cry Blood Dragon
Chrono Trigger
Jade Empire
Prince of Persia

How about a real sequel to Outcast, the amazing and vast, open world action adventure set on an alien world. Even though released in the late 90s, this voxel driven game had great AI in combat. Made by the great game designer Yves Grolet, a modern remake was just released, but the original sequel was abandoned.

That looks wild, and one can only imagine how it would look and operate with modern graphics and physics. But you should check out Outcast...one of the best and most immersive games I;ve ever played. The way the AI directs your enemies is pretty spooky and feels like life. The original was made twenty years ago, with Voxels to create amazing views.

OMG yes, this for sure, and agree keep it to the regular TNG/DS9/VOY Universe. I want faction based large scale play. like BF1942 size maps. would have to break from the story a little bit cause the Klingons aren't at war with the Feds, but would be damm fun to say play as a starfleet defending an outpost from raiding klingons or something like that.

Or when the Bajorans reclaimed DS9, one faction is the starfleet people left behind to try and defend it while the other faction is the Bajorans trying to capture the station, etc etc.

Would be neat to just have specific maps tied to specific encounters throughout the timeline of the 3 shows.

The Klingons were at war with the Feds during the TNG/DS9/VOY timeframe. For almost two years.

Actually Klingon Honor Guard could be considered part of the series, so we already had that :)

I wouldn't mind a new game but who exactly is going to make it? Are they in the position id was when they made the new Doom? I am not so sure. I still play FEAR and FEAR2 every couple years or so. Damn, I am old :(

I went back to play the original FEAR a few months back and, by God, it's a stupendous game. The gameplay is near perfect and graphica hold up admirably.

Dark Messiah Might and Magic. Had a lot of fun playing that game and it just slipped under the radar.
I love that game! Xana is the sexiest woman in video gaming history!

I'd love to see the original Deus Ex get remastered in 4K.

The original deusex already has a remaster it's called revision. And I think the original might work in 4K as well.
Of course I know that's not what you meant.
But DeusEx would need a complete overhaul to be up to sniff with current standards of gameplay. It wouldn't even be the same game IMO.
I'd rather we get the second part of mankind divided, and let bygones be bygones.

Not sure it's been mentioned yet. Road Rash. Shit - just give me a modern remake of the first two games and we're good.

I can't believe I didn't mention this before: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

A new Power Stone would also be a real treat.

This game?

That looks pretty arcade to me?

RBR has had a large amount of fan work done on it

In 1999 that was as good as it gets. I don't know why everyone insist on playing it in external view on youtube. It makes it look even worse. Also you needed a racing wheel for it, so you don't get that weird digital input.

I wasn't commenting on the looks, it is from 1999 after all. I meant how the car goes around the corners.

I wasn't talking about the graphics either. Yes, the handling looks weird in these videos but I guarantee you back in 99, we all considered this the most realistic rally game. i don't remember exactly, maybe there is an arcade mode in the game that is enabled here.

Alpha Centauri. With Brian Reynolds as a designer.

And no, Civ:BE doesn't count as a sequel, it doesn't even have voxelized terrain with stuff like rain shadows, etc. Not to mention a great story. It's just mind-blowing that SMAC had features that current versions of Civ still lack after all these years.
