GTX 670 Upgrade Options - Advice Needed

I have been out of the game for a while (built this rig in 2012), and could use some advice on a GPU upgrade.

My current build is:
i5 3570K
GTX 670 2GB
2 x 4GB DDR3

The GTX 670 is beginning to have heat issues, so I'm looking to replace it. I mostly just use this PC for games (PUBG) and streaming, and I'd like to keep using it for at least a couple more years.

I've been considering a 1050ti or 1060, but I'm not sure. I don't want to buy too big of a card if my other parts are going to hold it back.

Any advice on an upgrade would be greatly appreciated.
 
at what resolution will you be playing?.. depending on the resolution your 3570K unless heavily overclocked will be from a considerable bottleneck at 1920x1080 to stuttering and frame rate issues at 2560x1440, so with that in mind if you are at 1080P i don't recommend anything above GTX 1060 with that setup, and 2560x1440 GTX 1070Ti.. those would allow couple more of years of good gameplay at acceptable frame rates with mostly maxed settings.
 
Don't get a 1050 ti, piece of shit.

A 1060 6GB or RX 580 should be fine for you.

I have a RX 580 8GB Red Devil & play all of my games at 1440p at high to ultra settings on freesync without issue. I will say though, they do run a bit hot, expect 75-80c temps during gameplay but fully within working spec for them.

Any one of those would be a great upgrade for you at 1080p or 1440. Also, those prices are the lowest I have seen in months on those cards. make your decision fast while they're on sale.

With cost being identical and as long as your PSU isn't dancing on the edge of stability, the RX 580 is a better card than the 1060 6 GB.
 
I've got a box with a 3570 (non K) that I slapped in a RX480 back when they were under $200 (slightly slower than a RX580) and it's a good match.

Take apart the GPU and dust it out then reapply thermal paste game at 1080P on medium settings. These thing need to be dusted out once every two years anyway unless your case is totally vented off from dust. You might need a special set of screwdrivers to take it apart Torq X security bits or just small Phillips.

You make it sound like "heat issues" is something normal that occurs as the hardware ages. It's not. I'm still running 3x GTX 680's sandwiched together in SLI, about as unfriendly an arrangement as you can get in terms of heat. All three still work great, but I make a point to dust them out at least every 6 months. With the stock blower-type coolers, you end up with something like this blocking almost all airflow eventually if you don't dust them out:

I'm doing great with a GTX1070Ti and a 3330, and I can play Fortnite @4K with no slowdowns.

I'm switching to a Corei7 4770 soon, but just because I can, not because I feel the need to.

report back the differences after/before when you do the switch... and then we will see if the same statement can be made. most people tend to not notice how bad a gaming experience can be with a slow processor until they do the switch.

but also again read my post I mentioned 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 resolutions which are way less CPU dependant than 4k but as said before at 1440P the slowdown will be real with that CPU, at 1080P will be terrible with a 1070Ti do yourself the test and monitor GPU usage at both resolutions.
