My gaming pc is cruising right along with and downloading at speeds which are consistent with my connections, 100 down.

Now when I download with my other PC, it is downloading very slow ...early DSL slow.

Both are on a gigabit network fed from my main router, a ASUS 68u to a switch in my room which has bother PC's plugged into it, also gigabit.

Adapters in both PC's say 1 Gbps and both PC's say the same thing when I run speedtest.net

It's only when I download, one is drastically worse than the other. This is probably why my OBS streaming quality is shot.

I swapped cables from one to the other and still the same thing as well as several different ports on the switch.

6700k - running great
3570k - not so much

any ideas where I should check, or is the motherboard adapter foobar ?

Doesn't sound like you've tested internal (LAN) transfer speeds at all.

yeah test internal speeds and also try another browser on the problem system.

Here you go guys....

cards fine, software somewhere is causing it. try another browser, turn off firewalls, look at whats running in the background etc etc. maybe make a new account to see how it acts.

Had been using Chrome..... tried IE and disabled firewalls... same thing. .... I'll try another account

check if you are using jumob frames on any of the devies.
if so disable it

Jumbo frames reduced me transfer speed by 50% for some weird reason. Worth to test

Not enabled on Windows of either machine, but was enabled in router, still no change after disabling

static shouldn't matter as the issue is with downloads not internal networking.
check your hosts file and proxy settings and clear your dns cache.

Progress....did a windows "refresh" which basically uninstalls all apps and certain drivers. One of the drivers that was uninstalled was Realtek PCIe Ethernet Controller. I downloaded originally from Gigabyte site, this is a older board, Z77. I assume Windows installed their own stock driver. Now to install programs one by one and check speeds. I will not install any drivers.

I downloaded 100 mb file in about 10 seconds or less
