what video card would give me at LEAST a 25% boost in FPS over my 1070 ?
 
1080ti, Titan.

That’s assuming the rest of your computer isn’t holding back the 1070 already. Also depends on your games resolution and what games you are playing.
 
Basically that, only the 1080 Ti and Titan XP/Z would give you that much of a boost in today's market.

I would personally suggest holding off until Nvidia provides concrete information on the next-generation GPUs though.

Are you Freesync or 60Hz?

With that rig, I imagine the 1070's pushing FPS just fine for now. (Might be worth waiting for the next gen.)
 
Yeah, if you're looking for more than 60fps, you should consider a CPU and GPU upgrade.

You can reuse your DDR4, so your only cost would be a motherboard and CPU.

Use this review to see how much your performance could be CPU-limited. Compare your i5 6600k to i5 7600k:

If you're still seeing slowdowns when you crank down a few settings, then you're probably CPU-limited.

It's more like 40-50% faster in practically every single game when running at 1440p and UHD. Only a few games that that are more cpu-heavy and are run at lower resolutions will bring that gap down to about 30%.

I was stubborn at first thinking my i6 7600k overclocked to 4.9 wouldn't hold me back and I have been researching at 4k it actually does compared to 8700k on a 1080ti, especailly with minimum frames that should help with overall smoothness. I still wasn't going to upgrade but some how my job still qualifies for intel retail edge and I totally forgot about the summer deal. I got it in time and got the 8700k for 219 lol. It was hard for me to not do it. Only reason I would be ugprading to 8700k because after upgrading selling my 7600k and mobo would only cost me little money. However I will be getting a little better AIO water cooler since I have 140mm AIO water cooler, probably not going to cut it for me.

For me it was no brainer. I don't expect much increase but I did it for overall smoothness of game play rather than more frame and to get better minimum frames. I have noticed 8700k is pretty damn good at that.

Just made a similar upgrade myself, 4690k @ 4.6GHz to an 7700k @ 4.8GHz and got pretty much nothing worth noting on the maximum (maybe 5-10 or so), but minimums jumped through the roof (easily 30+ in PUBG) and mid's were slightly better too. The smoothness increase was DEFINITELY noticible.
