Finally got my hands on the TV I've been wanting for a long time. The display is fantastic, but I'm having really bad problems with screen tearing.

The game I'm mainly concerned with atm is Far Cry 5. When I run the game in full screen I get terrible tearing, regardless of the v-sync and/or framerate lock settings. When I run the game borderless I get no tearing, but can't enable HDR, which sucks.

I also get pretty bad tearing with watching video files. For a while I thought that when the cinema mode is used it prevented tearing, as I believe the real cinema setting locks the refresh to 24hz, but I'm noticing it there too. Also, for some reason when I'm in cinema mode I lose true blacks, really don't know what that's all about.

I'm hoping one of you out there has used this tv extensively as a monitor and could help me out. Thanks.

put it into pc or game mode. the 24hz thing will cause tearing as frame delivery is out of sync unless you use an fps cap at 24fps. try doing that, lock fps to the hz of the tv.

This is a decent read if you haven't already looked at it.

I have a C7 myself, but I don't use my PC on it.

I set the picture settings to game mode and don't have any tearing with vsync on. When the PC is set to 4k@60hz or 1080@120hz.

For video files install the lg file share on your pc and watch them through the tv. It supports basically everything.

Well the tv does 4k60 and while gaming I'm in game mode, vsync or framrate caps don't fix the tearing. I guess I could set up a custom resolution in nvidia control panel to 24hz for watching movies but that seems excessive.

What's a decent read lol. Maybe you forgot the link? I've been looking up a lot of posts and info on this tv, so far not much help on this one.

Are you in full screen or borderless window when you game? The video files are being played straight from the PC, file share seems to be a streaming option for watching files from your phone or tablet on the tv, not sure how that would help.

sounds like vsync isn't working correctly then. try forcing it on via nv control panel. for the movies, what player are you using? you might be able to force it to change modes during fullscreen. pretty sure you can do it with vlc or mpc.

Full screen.

I download movies to my pc and add them to the lg share program. My pc and tv are connected to an ethernet switch. Then I watch the videos directly through the tv via the built in lg share app. This gets you 4k hdr support, surround sound, etc. even if your pc doesn't support it. You can use the tv remote to control it all. You don't have to worry about 4:3 pulldown or setting the resolution or refresh rate.

Bump, this issue is driving me insane, still no resolution.

To summarize the problem again: when I'm in fullscreen, videos or games, I get really bad tearing.

It goes away when in borderless windowed but that's not an option for movies, and HDR doesn't work.

Sorry for the late reply. What do you mean by forcing the video player to change modes? I'm using mpc.

I will seriously paypal $10 to whoever gets me through this.

You need to globally enforce vsync through Nvidia control panel. Had this same issue when playing Divinity Original Sin 2 on my B7 OLED regardless of in game settings. Globally enforcing vsync through nvcp fixed it. Make sure it's set to ON and not Adaptive.

first part is what MistaS just said. second part is to look in mpc under view>render settings>vsync>vsync on and make sure d3d is off under render settings>presentation

I'll give that a shot in a bit. I generally don't want v-sync on as it increases input lag. The tearing really bugged me in FC5 but the only HDR game I'm playing atm is Destiny 2 and the tearing isn't as noticable, it's tolerable. I'm really more concerned about video playback.

V-sync is set to on and grayed out, all settings in presentation are grayed out as well, none are selected. Maybe something to do with the particular video I'm using atm, a 4k HDR mp4 of Lucy.

you could try capping you fps to that of your display. that way as long as it make at least that it wont tear. no idea aboot 4k, dont have it. try setting up a custom profile in nvcp for mcp and set the vsync in there.

That actually did it. Disappointed by how simple the solution was lol. I’ve gotten so used to running everything without vsync I didn’t even think about it. Thought it was on the tv side. PM me your PP.
