GHOST S1 - When both size & performance matters

I was a backer of both 1 and 2 cant recall it being delayed, maybe i forgot, but the ghost is over a year delayed...

i might not be a mathematician but i think that from april to july there is less than a year...

Did they send out an email about picking your case and tophats?

I received two emails from them about securing a manufacturer and the white no longer being an option but nothing else.

Only for interest:

Do they ship from Taiwan/China to customers or from Sweden to customers? I wonder because container shipping from Taiwan to Sweden will take 4 weeks so i don't think production will be done in 7weeks include container shipping.

Furthermore if they do shipping by themself they will never handle it in 1 week if they do it the first time.

Also shipping in 48h is also very unrealistic this is only possible with DHL Express and also some countries will take longer. For example shipping from Germany to US costs 200€ with DHL Express for an 2Kg package.

Maybe I am wrong but this is my experience for this topic.

It will take longer than 4 weeks for sea shipping and doubt they would want to air freight that amount of cargo.

Transportation from factory to the port & cut off date will at least 3 days and hoping sailing / the time that production lines up perfectly.

From Kaoshing to Gothennburg quay/quay will most likely be:

2M Service: 35 days

Ocean alliance: 38 days

The alliance: 35 days

At least 4 days for the container to be unloaded, custom cleared and delivered. (hoping that these events don't fall across the weekend too)

Easily 6 weeks worth there so indeed very ambitious. :)

If you have a shipping forwarder already set-up in Sweden I would get them to work with the factory (most likely have a local agent in Taiwan that will speak to them). Make sure the best shipping line that matches the production schedule, quick transit (may have to pay more but don't want to be stuck on a 46 day transit) and local carrier charges are reasonable as you can get badly screwed.

Not sure if you where a backer of the v1 but v1 also delayed.... on top of that non backers who purchased retail recieved the case earlier then original backers...
Ha! Good times (not really). Dondan sent out the cases to the closest locations first leaving the US close to last for all the shipments. Sadly, the US backers far outnumbered all other backers and our early kickstarter reward was being left for last. The case was worth the wait though. While it did have it's drawbacks it was fun to build in. Hopefully we won't have to wait as much with this case. I still remember following the Dan Case A4 close to the beginning and man was that a rough wait.

My x99e-itx needed some better cooling outside of an AIO so the Ghost was the next step. I can't be more excited for this case. The Pangea color is flipping amazing and hot dang that orange top reminiscent of Halo is what I need in my life.

Every kickstarter has it's flaws and you just have to learn from it. I really loved how dondan was always so involved with the community. I'm sure the Ghost team is overwhelmed with getting things ready but it felt like the backers where being left behind.

Best of luck to all and congratulations to us! I can't wait for my case.

The first kickstarter failed. This is what Sebbie was talking about. No mathematicians required here.
if it failed it can not considered delayed...

the kickstarter failed and everyone got a refund, end of the story...

then they launched a second kickstarter with a modified project that has beed delayed some months

Guys,

We have been focusing some time (a couple of months) on getting the quality level right where we need it to be. This immense quality focus has affected the communication flow significantly and we apologize that it has been interpreted as ignorance. We believe that the end result will speak for itself and that you will understand what has gone into making this case, it is different in many ways and nothing is standard or reused but all custom designed and developed.

From now on, when all the feedback and negotiations have come to an end with suppliers, we have more time at our hands where the majority of it will be used to guide you all through the final mile of the project.

Hoping for you understanding and we appreciate all the engagement, negative or positive. Shoot questions that you have!

That is a very simple minded way of seeing things.

Sadly for you the project started and continued through to the secon kickstarter. There was a delay and that is what was brought up.

Good thing is that your mathematician skills are no longer required.

Hello Patrick,

Will we be able to see high quality images of each colour and the updated case?

Are the dust filters still being worked on and any sort of time frame?

Is the ash colour prone to scratches?

Are you sure you can meet the set deadline? It currently seems very tight and made a post above describing how it will take about 6 weeks.

Thank you and looking forward to the case.

so following your logic if the case were shipped this april (like stated in the kickstarter) you would have still called for a year delay...lol

Not my logic man. Sorry if you got butt hurt but let's be cool and get back on the topic of the awesome case that we should have.

Have we establish if a blower style or open air GPU works best? I'm gonna be using the Fractal S24 for CPU cooling with large top hat FYI.

Hello Patrick,

Will we be able to see high quality images of each colour and the updated case?

Yes, we are discussing a shoot with Sweclockers and we are planing a trip to the anodization facility to get the Pangaea just right which has not been manufactured yet.

Are the dust filters still being worked on and any sort of time frame?

Yes, now more focus can be allocated towards these

Is the ash colour prone to scratches?

No, none of the finishes are. they are all equally strong. Should a scratch appear anyway, it will be more noticeable on colors further away from aluminum. Remember that the surface is many times more resistant than powder coating or untreated aluminum.

Let me say that the announced date is still an ETA, unforeseen things could still happen and it is now more in the hands of the manufacturer. Aluminum is on the critical timeline

I'd say open air, regardless of CPU cooling, but it will depend on your preferences. The S24 will still run cool and silent enough enough and the benefit is a cooler and quieter GPU with an open air.

Folks are trying to pick a color, why wait for a professional shoot? Just take some pictures and share them, we don't care if they're not fancy.

Pachalski, I have to agree with illram above.

I am torn between what colour I would like. I was all for the Ash and it is still most likely what I will end up getting but the Limestone with copper top would look great IMO and I am considering that. The Pangaea would as well but not sure I'm willing to gamble on that one.

I finally decided to use my Slack account and found some pictures posted there but they're not great (varying colours and not sure which is from which of the two suppliers you were deciding between) in different lighting and it (Slack) is such a horrible platform to use that I began to lose track of what was even being posted when trying to scroll through the last 10+ days of discussion.

As illram said, I think many members would appreciate some updated pics to help us choose. I am worried about waiting to long to order.

As well, is the copper actual copper that will develop a patina and turn green? That is not something I'd be interested in maintaining.

Thank you for any insight you can provide.

This!

If I don't get to see some IRL photos of the colours in somewhat decent lighting, I'm simply going the DAN A4-SFX v3 route. At least I'll know what I get.
Dang bro, Pachalski rarely comes out of hiding and now you are rushing him. The man said they are gonna get pics.

I actually already picked my color, but I'd still like some Ghost S1 porn, even if its potato quality. ;)

So if I'm going to use the FTW3 with a large top hat (S24 AIO), will I require the angle PCIe power adapter? Thanks.

Yeah, right. This panned out exactly as I thought it would. Louqe could not provide IRL photos in a months time and now they've sold out before I could make an informed decision on the colour. Shittiest communication ever. *slow clap*
Lol, Pachalski just Pachalski'd (I hope this catches on) you. Honestly though, if you wanted the case you should've bought it.

There's a saying "a fool and his money are soon parted".
I can't blame pointfiveo for being cautious with his purchase. He is more than right to want answers before committing and he gave them more than enough time.

You can be cautious but then don't act surprised when you're late to the game

Guys guys, relax, we will get pics. They just need to fly their special photographer in from Italy, also they are waiting for the weather to be favorable as even though it is an indoor shoot, if the humidity is too high it makes the specially conditioned aluminum chassis sweat, also they are going to need to poll us on slack to determine which instagram filters to use on the shots before they release them, but it will be a different slack channel so we will need to await email invites, and be sure you accept them as they will expire in .02 nanoseconds after opening! This is all just part of the kickstarter process, folks.

Their communication is still terrible, someone from the Slacks group had to email them to confirm the ETA has been pushed back again instead of announcing it on multiple platforms only people that frequent Slacks are aware.

Last update: We are currently Estimating Shipment Towards the End of July. The Shipment will be done by Air. Pictures of the final case will be presented mid July - Patrik" (Survey Status: Currently Being Re-Sent)"

actually another guy got an email which said that shipping was postponed to august...

btw they went with the manufacturer which asked 4 delays before delivering its sample...so i can not say that i'm surprised

To me it feels as though it's a pair of designers who have come face to face with the supply chain process, and have dropped the communication in hopes of not becoming completely overwhelmed by logistics. No excuse, it sucks, but I also don't feel like this is vapor ware and in need of class action etc etc and don't need the case asap.

I’m extremely late to this party but I’ve got an itx build comin up. Any way to get in on this case or is it too late? If not, I’ll move on and chose another sff.

Probably after they release it to their backers and preorder before taking in new orders, unless you buy it from someone who already preorder or back it.

Just skimming through this thread, not sounding good in terms of shipping. Am i wrong? How close is this to public release?

nobody can tell 100% for sure...ETA gets delayed every 15-20 days...last one was for delivery in august

Here's what we got in the latest email.

"Things are coming together. Being in the middle of the production process we’d like keep you updated and share status directly from production floor.

The metal and aluminum work is looking good, imagine the feeling of seeing the case gables being extruded through a small matrix with a force of a couple of thousand metric tons at 500 degrees Celsius. In a week or two we’ll get the final samples of all three colors before we OK the next phase of production: anodization

The production of the electronic components has been a bit messier, testing and verifying that the flush mounted power bottom fits just perfect. It’s all looking good now, but it has taken a couple of rounds getting it all perfect. Now we are waiting for final sample so that we can get the production of these ramped up. With our final tweaks on the electronics we estimate to start shipping in august and be ready with all shipments before the month is over.

As we are seeing it all coming together we are confident that the Ghost will meet and exceed all expectations out there.

Cheers // TEAM LOUQE"

Personally I don't think this will be shipped out until late August- Late September. Also all the first batch cases they are going to make are sold out on their website so you'll have to wait for the second batch.

Just an update, they sent us pics of the final product. They're not professional photos but they'll have those to show this week. He says now we are still on track to ship in August, not September. Didn't say when in August but I'm still predicting late August.
