Spam leaking over from the Distributed Computing forum?

What do you think of these attempts to steal people over to DC projects?

I suppose if your not [H] you need all the measily compute cycles from your slow core CPU to run Firefox but many of us actually [H] members enjoy the ocatinal dick raising contest to flex our thousands of threads. I can see how thease would make the less [H] members jealous

What do you mean by stealing? If you mean people that convince others to donate CPU and GPU resources in an effort to solve worldwide problems including cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, AIDS, Zika, tuberculosis, and a list too long to write; then I think you're confusing stealing with trying to help the world.

I apologize if the efforts of people trying to find cures for diseases and solve world problems gets in the way of you using computer resources to create intangible currency that may or may not have value in the future, but I for one would like to leave the world a better place than I found it. What that means to me is doing what I can with the resources I have to make an effort.

I suggest you re-examine your motivation for making a thread that, at its core, is an attack on the ideals of many who visit these forums, including this web site's founder. I have nothing against cryptocurrency or the discussions that occur here, and in the end, it's your right to have your opinion, but badmouthing people who are trying to help others with a charitable, worthwhile cause? Maybe you should visit the other forums and try to understand why it matters, because it does. The efforts, including the recruiting efforts by some of our more outspoken members, may mean the difference in the health or welfare of you or someone you love in the future.

Different forms of distributed computing have been around for far longer than any crypto or mining for crypto has and the millions of people across the world who have donated their CPU cycles to the various causes have been a major factor for advancing a huge amount of research in a ton of different scientific fields. While the majority do their DC activities under the banner of some forums, website, or institution that part is just for a friendly social aspect of interacting with others who are generally like minded. It is a selfless endeavor with no personal gain or reward other than the occasional bragging rights in the various friendly contests that take place and it does have quite a high direct personal cost in energy expenses. Mining for crypto on the other hand is a completely self serving activity. While both are using computing cycles in a distributed manner they are simply unrelated. This is just a troll thread imo.

Bringing people from a totally self serving activity to something that is for the greater good is a good thing. Not a bad thing.

well this forum has gone to shit.

DC and "mining & crypto" are different forums for a reason.

click on Skillz, click on ignore, click back to "mining and cryptocurrency" forum, then refresh. It works!!! no more spam.

I get it but we are all on the same team here. Someone just asked to help out our team here for H. Some people came to help and was very much appreciated. We dont DC for personal gain. Just helping out humanity as a whole I hope and letting people know after all these years the H is still [H] ard :)
Cheers!

Only saw 1 thread, not sure that is spam? Asking [H] members to help out [H] is bad now?

biblepay or whatever is another one as well. but spam is spam don't need a hundred of them to make it so.

frankly I'm ok with the asking for some help here, it's more the attitude and false pretenses that have come with it.

Both threads discuss how to earn some sort of crypto with it.

So again, where is this spam?

False pretense? Attitude? What have you done for [H]? 1/10000000000th of a percent of what Skillz has done.

... a bunch of other whiny crap ...

Wow. So much butt hurt from you. I'm sure there are other sites that would love to add you to their ranks. Bye now and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Jesus Christ, what a twat rocket.

I'm surprised there are people complaining about guides for setting up mining options in the mining forums. One of the constant complaints in these forums is no guides or the lack of complete information from all the elitists that really don't contribute more than putting others down. I honestly don't care if any of you think it is a "shitcoin", scam, or bad idea. It is passing the knowledge along to others that may actually appreciate it. Stupid comments like it isn't a coin because you don't like it doesn't help anyone. Add some real context backed up by facts. Otherwise you are just laughed off for trolling. I've actually reached out to some of the more experienced miners in this community for mining questions. I can say there has been very little real effort to help anyone. I will continue to share my knowledge freely. As I have done in the distributed computing forums and a few others. If you don't like the guides, don't read them. They are for those that seek them.

What say you?!

I say you make sense. I have been on this forum for nearly a decade and I don't see DC spam. I have been folding for 33 a long time now and asking to change projects periodically in heavier traffic areas for a contest [H] is in can hardly be considered SPAM.

Post your email and we will show you what actual SPAM looks like...

We sincerely like to thank each and everyone of you here who have answered our call to arms during the 2018 BOINC Pentathlon which was just concluded yesterday. We finished 6th overall, our best finishing ever. That is an improvement from 12th, 15th and 8th positions over the previous three challenges. Most important of all, we hope you will continue to join our effort in donating some of your CPU/GPU power for some good causes in distributed computing such as finding answers to worldwide medical problems like cancer and other common diseases. Again thank you very much.
