If you are looking to pick up a new mouse for your gaming needs, Logitech has got more than a few on sale today at Amazon. I personally use it G Pro Gaming ($44), but if you like your mice a bit fancier, the G300s has got more buttons ($20), and if you really need to get even fancier, the G502 Proteus Spectrum RGB ($50) might fit your needs. The G602 is the best all-around mouse Logitech makes at this moment for righties. When on sale, they tend to hover around $35. I pair mine with a steelseries mousepad (Qck Mini) and love the combo. Battery life in MONTHS with daily extended usage.
 
I have a G700s and love it but it stopped working correctly a few months ago. The right click stopped functioning when you go to hold it down (like when aiming in games). Its "clicks" but releases right away even if you are holding it down.One of the better mice I've used but man I was pretty disappointed when it started to malfunction. Only have had it for 3 years? you would think the left click would go bad first but that wasn't the case.
I'm in the market for getting a new mouse just don't have the cash to do it right now. Might have to see if I can scrap some dough and pull the trigger.....

Call Logitech support - they have replaced my 3 year old mouse before, because the switch goes out and does what yours is exhibiting. This was a while ago, but definitely worth a phone call in my opinion.

I might have to try that but i don't remember exactly when I bought it. It was a few years ago.

Yup. Love my 602, as well all-around (gaming and everyday use). I prefer the MX Mster, for work, exclusively.
 
What's the closest MX518/G400 replacement you can get today from Logitech (shape/size/weight)? I still use my MX518 but it ain't a pretty sight for sure but my hand has married the shape of it, feels like an extension for the hand. :p All other mice I've tried I immediatly feel something about the shape or material is off so I "notice" the mouse in one way or another but with the MX518 it "disappears" from my awareness when using it.

The only problem I see like on pretty much all other mice as well except for perhaps Roccat, the side button shape/feel doesn't look good, they are too big n plasticky. I think the narrower/oval shape of side buttons of MX518 is a PRO not a CON and the buttons should also be very clear tactile clicky feeling ideally with a hard-rubber coating feel so currently the side button design is at the opposite end of what I feel is the correct design. Smaller, very tactile and non-plasticky would love if someone had sidebuttons like that.

I have the Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 and like it alot.
When it stop working, I will give the G602 a try.
 
As much as I like the idea of a LAg-Free wireless option the G602 looks like too much for me. The G Pro is simple sweet and sexy. I've never needed 1000 buttons on my mouse to program because that's what the keyboard is for and if the mouse looks like a super modified new Honda civic then chances are it's not fitting my hand like a glove.

I replaced my G9x with a G502 and I'm not super happy with it. The mouse wheel is pretty terrible. It was my fault for not paying attention to the dimensions of the G502 and the length of it. I miss my G9x but one of the buttons started to act up.

The G602 is something I might like if it wasn't wireless.
 
Hopefully this is a sign that there will finally be a G700 replacement coming.
The 4 thumb button layout is perfect. 2 isn't enough and 6 is too many. Just improve the tracking + battery life and we're good to go.

Talk to Logitech. Their warrenty is oddly incredible. They might do something for you.

I had used a coolermaster hellfire (I think it was called) was a good mouse, for all of about 3 months then it just upped and stopped working, I thought was my USB having issues with the mouse constantly jittering out not functioning etc, brother tried on his systems, same problems.

anyways a few months after this (probably about 1.5year back) went to local staples (and overpaid of course by ~$20) got a G500s mouse, is the closest one I have found to the mx500/518 IMO for the price...the mouse "skates" seem a bit more robust than what I remember with the MX5xx one I had (had it for around 3 years all told before the skates wore right to nothing)

I really wish the mouse makers used more robust materials for the mouse "skates" so they do not die from friction as easy as they seem to.

anyways, MX518 I quite liked the look of, but from a size/performance the G500s is all around better but at least is very similar feel in hand.

G700s + wireless charging = perfect imo. Any tracking improvements are just an added bonus.

If you don't use the middle click it is. Less than a year of usage and the middle click is already dying. I just today received my g403 which is replacing my g602.

Had this happen too. I really liked the G602, but it’s no good without the middle click.
 
How often do they run these sales? My G700 is still working great, but at that price I'm tempted to pick up a spare G602 to keep as a backup.

I had an MX518 for about 10 years and loved it. I finally retired it about two years ago and tried looking for something similar. I first picked up a G402 and it was okay. I had issues with the right-click but couldn't get used to the feel. Last year I picked up a G403 and it is VERY close to the same feel of the MX518. So close I couldn't tell the difference aside from the smooth texture of the 518. It is a bit lighter and comes with a weight but it's still much lighter than the MX518. I don't mind it though, as it feels great in my hands. I recommend it..
 
Unrelated to the sale, just ordered tonight a Logitech MX Master 2S to replace my aging Performance MX. Always a solid mouse that has fit my hand perfectly. Noticed the price dropped 9% so I went ahead and ordered it. 5% casback on top of that is just a bonus :)

Interesting, I also killed the scroll wheel auto ratchet on 2x mx masters.. Maybe Logitech is cheating out on middle button build quality.
 
Razer is the Best =) Logitech Pro is good Proetus can cramp your hands after a while but I like all the buttons so when Patheon Rise of the Fallen comes out I'll use that or the Chaos spectrum.

Unfortunately I've had 2xG700 and 3x G700s, 3 of them have gone out the same way (except mine was left click all 3 times). I had a G400 from 2004 that I bought used that just died 6mos ago. Unfortunately their newer stuff just doesn't last as long which sucks, because they are my favorite mice.

I probably could have contacted Logitech, but clearly this is a trend. You can't just put your mice problems on the consumer.

That said, I will still buy Logitech mice, but only greatly on sale and accept the fact that they will break within 3-5 years. Currently looking for a good deal on the G903 & wireless pad (powerplay).
 
I’m failing to see the sale prices. I’ve bought multiple of these Logitech mice for less than these prices ON Amazon. ???

What is your issue with the wheel? I have noticed that mine will fire off a scroll down signal unexpectedly if the wheel is in free spin mode so some games i have to click the button to lock it into regular scroll. Other than that I leave it in free and it's fine i guess.

I feel the same. I bought one on sale for work because I couldn't stand th $5 special anymore and it was cheap. Now I'm thinking I want it over the G502 I have at home.

I had a G700S and have the same issue with the left click. I didn't bother with a warranty claim because the thing is just cheaply made. Disappointing because it had the perfect ergonomics for my hand. The G502 is great, but it doesn't fit my hand as well as the G700S did.
 
What's funny is that I have random cheap-o mice at my office that have lasted 10+ years. My wife's MX500 is so old that all of the stickers have worn off and look like white blobs on top of it. Yet it works great. There are people still rocking 1990's era Intellimice at some gaming tournaments.
I think Logitech has definitely implemented more planned obsolescence strategies in the last few years. Most of their gaming mouse line starts having issues after 2'ish years of normal use. It's anecdotal, but of my friends, the 2 year mark tends to be when something or another stops working right.
I'm on G700 #3 and with them stopping production, they're getting pricier to replace. Hence, I really really hope they unveil a successor soon.

Thanks for the headsup, lighter is welcomed so that's no issue, MX518 is in the "upper-end" of perfect weight for me right on the border of becoming too heavy for my tastes, ideally I'd say based on a few I've tried (depends on size/shape a bit tho) around 95~100 g, the MX518 was like 106~108 g or thereabouts without cable. Will definitely check out G403. :)

Oh, I'd pick up a proper G700 replacement day 1 no hesitation. My G700 probably lasted 5+ years before I shocked it to death this winter accidentally. I couldn't bring myself to pay ebay money for a NIB model. So I bought both the G602 and G502 just because. The G602 is good, but would be sooooo much better with the selectable scroll wheel and right/left wheel clicks. The G502 is good too but just a little on the small side compared to the G700. I don't mind the G502's cord since I mostly ran the G700 corded anyway. I have both the 502 and 602 connected and alternate use, but I think I like the 502 a little better- the lack of wheel functionality on the G602 is a bit of a deal-killer for me.

It's the mouse wheel tilt sensitivity. It's horribly oversensitive. Try and use middle mouse and you're bound to wheel tilt left or right in the process. I've also noticed the issue with over-scrolling and needing to use the lock button. That's not so much of a problem for me as when I game, I lock it by default.

Just and update on my mouse issue.....I did email logitech about the issue and they denied my inquiry. Said it was already out of warranty. I think the main reason is because i don't have the receipt or invoice for the mouse since it was a gift. I can't remember who got it for me. I should ask my wife and see if she bought it as a Christmas present. Either way kinda sucks.

Does Logitech have anything close to the original g7? I have a g700 and I've never been super happy with it. It is just a little too bulky and the battery life leaves much to be desired. Sure you can plug the cord in, but I hate the drag and miss the quick swap batteries. It's starting to act up and throw USB errors when charging.

The G305 and G603 seem similar style-wise. Best Buy stores tend to have them on display, so you could always go see if they're shaped the way you want.
