Rage 2

Never played ID's Rage but I have high expectations for their new game whether it is Rage or some new Doom. ID is best known for their fast pace shooting and synchronized graphics.

WOW cool I couldn't imagine how good this will look. I got pretty far in the original Rage I think I lost my save with a PC upgrade. I played through most of it twice. The biggest complaint I see with the original game was the enviroment wasn't very interactive kinda on the rails for most of the game but the good graphics made up for it.

I was happy with the first one. Have played it through 3 times, recently as a few months ago. The driving parts could be better but I was overall happy with it.

Seconded. Love those boomerangs. I played through the game a few years ago and had a blast. Maybe part of it was my lowered expectations due to all the negativity that the game incurred initially, but I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and I'd run into some wall where I'd start hating the game. Never happened, game was fun.

Unfortunately first impressions do count, and it highlights the importance of releasing games that are relatively trouble free at launch - or delaying. Even though the game got patched eventually, once fickle gamers declared "the game suxx", the die was cast, and people that never played the game were more than happy to jump the "I heard the game suxx" bandwagon.

I played way after it was released and so I never had or noticed most of the technical issues that people had with the game. While the "open world" that this game's promotional materials promised didn't deliver, the general game loop of shooting things in a mostly linear levels was done well enough that I beat it and enjoyed my time doing so quite a bit.

I am really looking forward to going back to that world.

I liked the story of the first one, the driving was bleh only because of the instant repeating and cookie cutter combat. Going off to fight the enemy strong holds was fun for exploration but again the combat was cookie cutter each time. I hope they clean it up a bit and make it more diverse with 2 but I did enjoy the first overall.

Rage felt like a cousin to Borderlands on gameplay. I liked it for what it was so I'll keep tabs on this.

I went as far as buying The Scorchers DLC. There's 3 new weapons (rail, chain, crossbow) combined into one, and a few new new missions. The new bandits are using identical AI to other factions. So, more of the same. Oh, there's a supposedly hot in the deep US south or something. I don't know.

I actually liked RAGE more than it deserved. At least that's what I thought when I replayed it in glorious 120 FPS* it a few months ago. It really is a bit too bland. Movement, gun play and driving are all top notch though.

HUGE thanks to the person who told me about this FPS cap unlocking mod. Thank you.

First game was fun, I always thought it ended rather abruptly and anticlimactically. I also remember really liking the different ammo types you could use on the weapons, and remember leaning very heavily on the explosive ones for the shotgun.

Considering the history of id though, it will always be seen as kind of a disappointment and most of that is due to the console influence. Game ran and looked great for an xbox360 game but on PC we dealt with shitty streaming textures? At least we can assume a Rage 2 would not have those issues as they've moved past that tech.

since bethesda loves to port, and port to VR as well (FO4 VR, TES5VR) and id has doom VR as well, do you think this will be released for VR? a year after release?

When the first Rage was released it was an unoptomized piece of garbage. After a couple of patches it played fine and I enjoyed the game for what it was. I was really happy when they implemented a fix to return to the first area.

Hopefully Rage II will be a lot more refined on release then the first one.

Full version what a song to live by lol

great use of color and graphics look top notch...trailer makes it look like a multiplayer only game as it seems to be selling the characters over gameplay...I enjoyed the first game so I'm interested in seeing what they do with the sequel

They need to put these live actors in for the cut scenes nobody is doing that in games. Take that Bearded guy drinking that pint he could be a Boss in the game =)

Really looking forward to an improved RAGE sequel. I hope it will be like playing Mad Max but in first person (like Dying Light & Borderlands).

Rage capitalized on what id Software does best. Which is mostly creating linear levels and good gunplay.

The thing I was hoping for from Rage was that it would be the first game to actually have an RPG-esque story.
They spent all this time world building in an art sense. And every character you can actually interact with looks interesting and has an incredible art style.
But because none of them say anything of substance or anything beyond essentially telling you what to do. I don't really remember any of them outside of how they look.

So, I hope that id Software focuses a bit more effort on story. So that there is interesting dialog and character development that goes beyond just surface level. But that's just me.

Actually looks pretty good. Glad it's keeping a lot of the same designs from the first one, just adding more stuff to do.

I appreciate that they added the ability to have a Wingstick spin on mutant's face. Nice touch.

That actually looked pretty good. Given how awesome Doom was, I am cautiously optimistic that Bethesda might not actually fuck this up.

Way better than I expected. Looks like a DOOM2016 supercharged Borderlands/Mad Max. Open world too? This is now my 2019 most anticipated.

To the "but didn't RAGE suck" edgelords I can only say DOOM2016 absolutely rocked, and Mad Max from Avalanche was surprisingly fun. These two studios joining forces on this looks like it's going to be epic.

So we're supposed to base expectations for this sequel not on its predecessor, but on a completely different (legendary) game series? Suddenly, being skeptical of a sequel to a game that bombed makes everyone "edgelords" - get that pre-order money ready! I'd say "wait and see" is totally justified.

I've been replaying Doom over the last week and when playing last night @ 4K maxed out and admiring some of the gun textures and environments all-the-while playing at a smooth 60FPS I said to myself "Man, they should make every game with ID Tech 6." Engine is well optimized, looks great, and if they could get the new Doom on the fucking Nintendo Switch then anything is possible with the engine. It looks like Rage 2 may be using ID Tech 6 and I also remember when playing Doom thinking how the engine could handle an open-world setup.

Btw, I never finished the original Rage but I did start playing it this past weekend and been playing every night since and it's not bad. I enjoy the more laid-back and easy gameplay of it. Like, you still collect quests and loot like some RPGs but it's way more simplified. You just instantly loot dead enemies of everything, I haven't noticed a carry limit, and the shooting is good b/c it's a id game. Looks like Rage 2 though may expand upon what they did with Rage, but also learn from the shortfalls from what most disliked about it. Will wait to see more, but the new gameplay trailer definitely sold me on the game.

All of these new ID Software games just don't do it for me Doom I forgot about completely Quake Champions is DED this game is looks like more of the same at least Borderlands had RPG elements to it even if it was Quest and Fetch.
