if you can't afford a used GTX 1070 Ti at current over-priced pricing now's your chance to buy ... just the empty box for a mere $30 + $14 economy shipping LOL unbelievable. Who in their right mind would be oolish enough to buy an empty 1070 box for $44 ? They have six empty boxes available if you're interested ...

Had I kept all my boxes from the past 10 years I Could build a brand new computer from the price!

I see those 8800GTX boxes! That sucker lasted me through like 3 generations of gaming.

Selling an empty box is insane. Are people trying to counterfeit?

I assumed it was people buying them in order to be able to resell their hardware after dispensing of the original packing materials. The cost on buying the empty box is should be recouped in a better sale price....

I can't imagine that that's the reason. I would not pay $50 extra for a box. I think it really is about the scammers as others have noted. There cannot be so many "collectors"

I still have a ton of boxes, this is an older pic with older hardware boxes but I still have most of these plus a bunch of new boxes.

I guess I could try and sell them as Vintage boxes, lol

I sell anything that collects dust unless it's not worth anything I keep it then or give it away.

Holy crap!
Where the heck do you store all those boxes?
My closet usually gets full then i start throwing the old ones away to make room. :D

wow... once warranty period expires... boxes go to the trash... really don't see the point of being a "original packaging hoarder" lol

in my closet. I was tossing old boxes and re-organizing my closet when I took that pic.

I think this was the top shelf before.

You get the boxes, and sell altered GTX 450 cards in them ... guaranteed these boxes will be filled and re-shrink-wrapped soon enough by a scammer.

i'll have to wait until the boxes come down in price before I make a gpu purchase!

Some sales at my local memory express (canadian store kinda like fry's) they have some big discounts on 1070 / 1070 Can get 1070 for $599 CDN which is like $125 less than "normal"
Edit: thats about $468 USD so pretty close to MSRP

Having the box, especially with all those little scraps of paper nobody bothers with included, shoots up the collector's value.

What seems like trash and outdated junk now... well, just look at the stupid prices people will pay for anything with a 3dfx or Commodore Amiga logo on it today. Bitten fruit logos too, to a lesser extent (mainly original 128k/512k, SE/30, IIfx, Color Classic, TAM). Doubly so if it's CIB. Quadruply so if it's sealed.

I actually got a Voodoo5 5500 AGP with box and most of its documentation - hardly a mint collector's item in its current condition, but I know what kind of ridiculous prices people will pay for it. Heck, I'd probably make a bit just selling off the box alone, never mind the card!

On the other hand, I'd rather see it put to use in a proper retro gaming build, or maybe trading leverage for one of those rare PCI Mac Editions of the same card so I can cram one into my 9600. (Or an Amiga with a PCI busboard, which is part of the reason PCI Voodoo3/4/5 cards sell for stupid high amounts.)
