A question about broken GPU's

Why do people list them for so much on eBay? I have looked for the answer all over the place(google, search function), but I can't find one. And I am not talking about people scamming, but people who are listing them as broken, for a high price. Any info is appreciated.

People with the troubleshooting skills can use a broken GPU for parts.

Highly-desired rare cards up costs even when broken, because it could have mostly working parts, For people who want to resuscitate a "classic," you need working parts from another card.

You'd be surprise how much people will pay for fairly rare but functioning electronics.

Or if they're just mainstream cards, it's just sellers going fishing for idiots who don't read the fine print. Especially in a buyers market like the current one.

I bought a extra Fan and stock heatsink cooler for my 1080ti FE incase it goes bad for like 35.00 The fans can be hard to get and it's not that hard to replace them.

This is what brought me here. I am looking for a stock heatsink/fan combo for an EVGA 970 that I have that was watercooled using a corsair AIO. But the prices are ridiculous for broken cards. So much so, that unless I luck out soon, I may as well just search for aftermarket cooling. Arctic's Twin Turbo is less than a broken card with a stock solution.
