AMD Launches the Combat Crate

Seems like a good deal, especially considering GPU prices. Too bad on the Motherboard choice. I prefer ITX.

Some quickie math:

(These prices are based off a search on Newegg as of this message)

The Combat Crate: $549.99

CPU: $189.99
Mobo: $97.39
Video: $349.99
TOTAL: 637.37 ($597.37 after MIR on Mobo and Video)

Combat Crate savings: $87.38 ($47.38 AMIRs)

Those again are current Newegg prices, if you can find the items cheaper then obviously it shrinks the crate savings...

Over priced if you look at MSRP GPU prices. Ok deal atm but prices on GPU are coming down. Still need to add $150 ~ for 16gb of ram.
I agree, infact you can buy a prebuilt system with the same or better specifications for not much more.

Not a bad idea at all! It would be nice if they also offered multiple versions, including a top-of-the-line variant with a Ryzen 2700X, X470 high end OCing/gaming mobo, and matching Vega 64 based GPU. For my preference, I'd suggest an Asus Crosshair VII mobo + Asus Vega 64 w/ ROG cooler as I've had good experiences with the high end on both. This kind of setup would be nice especially if it significantly improved on the MSRP overall, including for the Vega 64.

Likewise, they could also offer another bundle of Vega 64 + a FreeSync 2 display to get the word out about FreeSync 2 HDR gaming experiences. Right now if i'm correct the only easily available lineup for FreeSync2 is Samsung, but others will follow suit.

I agree. When I think of MSRP for a 580 at $229, I still couldn't pull the trigger on this deal. I also managed to snag a 470 4Gb for $110(code, mir + ebates) before the mining craze so they have a long way to go before I consider upgrading.

no savings, you are just getting the gpu at msrp, because 339$ for a 580 that's about 80$ above msrp ( if we include the GDDR price increase )

This is probably to clear inventory of "old" stock (RX 580), for a new vega line up in a few months.
