it is completely unlocked for all networks it states, as says its "SIM FREE" i have never owned an unlocked phone so i have no idea how I can activate this phone if i get it?? Pop out the sim card in your Nexus 6, and then put into your new phone.

Just swap your (already active) SIM into the new phone. That's it, providing the phone is fully compatible with Verizon's bands, which searching it seems to be the case.

That phone was just $242 over the weekend through Amazon Warehouse deals (w/ 20% off coupon), so I hope you got it at that price.

saysthis phone is "sim free" so what does that mean, and where is the sim card on a nexus 6???

ok, found via google that the nexus 6 uses a nano sim, and this phone has a nano sim slot, so all should work well.. thanks going to purchase this phone tomorro.. Whats your opinion on this phone?? Decent upgrade from my 4 year old nexus 6?

Yeah, it definitely seems like a good phone overall from what I've seen on it, which is a lot since I frequent tech blogs and YouTube channels daily. The only consistent gripes I see about the phone are about its camera, but it seems like a software issue mostly because I see owners claiming they can side load the Google camera app and it improves picture quality considerably.

If I hadn't got a good deal on my Pixel 2 XL, the Essential or Oneplus 5T (which isn't compatible with Verizon) would have been next in line.

i could care less about the camera, but to make this deal even better i had a 100$ amazon gift card so i paid 299 for this phone. Now im just worried about activating it, i have the worst luck on everything!! hopefully its as easy as the above poster said, remove sim card from my current nexus6 and insert it into new phone... sounds to easy, but ill find out on Wednesday

thanks everyone for all your help with my phone adventure.. the phone will be here tomorro and cant wait!

Okay, just wanted to double check i understand what i need to do to activate my new phone.. Take the sim card out of my current nexus6, then place it into my new essential PH-1 phone, boot it up, and all should work right? or do i need to call verizon for anything??

You don't need to call Verizon if the SIM card is already activated.

Yup, everything went pretty smooth. Was as easy as swapping sim's. Thanks again everyone. Love this phone! Amazing how much more the Pixel 2 XL is and this phone has the same specs for 1/2 the price! Oreo 8.1 Is very very fast, and everything about this phone is superior to my nexus6.. Great purchase!

Nice, congrats! I would have totally got this phone prolly if they had it for $350 or less a month ago when I got my Pixel 2 XL. But I got a good deal on it too at least bringing it down to about $350 for the upgrade after a couple promos I got on it and selling my old Nexus 6P.

Probably not a big deal too, but I don't think the Essential phone supports WiFi calling on Verizon like the Nexus 6 did (since it was sold through Verizon). I'm sure that's less of an issue on Verizon with their coverage, but it's kinda important to me on T-Mobile since they still have a couple coverage gaps that I didn't have on Verizon (worth the small coverage gap for literally half the price i was paying on Verizon before on unlimited data).
