If it's truly that much of an improvement over Ryzen 1, I'll be using it for my next build either late this year or spring of 2019.
 
Okay, I'm sold.
When I get home I'll preorder the Ryzen 2700x.

Now to figure out which motherboard and fastest ram I can use. Any advice on MOBO and ram?

Going to have to use my trusty old R9 270 till the newer 1180 nVidia cards come out.
So Imma feel what it's like driving a supercharged Corvette while suffering from untreated glaucoma.

Not expecting a whole lot over Round 1 clock for clock but 4.2GHz looks drool worthy.

I wait until I have hardware in hand to make any judgement about it. Intel always says shit like "The Core i7 Super Turbo Turkey Puncher Edition III is 11% faster than the previous generation!" and cite a single benchmark showing that. In reality, it's more like 3-5% at BEST in every other test you can think of. Even some leaked benchmarks don't always pan out as being entirely representative of the final product so again, we'll see. If true, that's a serious win for AMD on a minor revision of a CPU architecture. I hope it is true as AMD could really use the good PR and some more sales success.
 
So no real benchmarks, but feel free to pre order. Didn't the gaming industry prove this is a terrible idea? But you'll always have the fan bois who will order whatever they release.
 
I'm a little surprised that some of the Asus motherboards are branded RoG. Looking closely at the box, under the AMD logo it even says Crossfire. Probably the rules of Nvidia GPP get tricky since AMD makes things that both do and do not compete with them.
 
Is there a memory QVL for the ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Wi-Fi) available? I'd really like to pre-order this motherboard with a 2700X, but I can't find a memory QVL on the ASUS website. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm upgrading from an old AMD 8350!
 
I can't wait for the reviews of these things. Didn't plan on replacing my 1600x but I probably won't be able to resist if they're a pretty good bump

Dude, I can't wait to have a "Core i7 Super Turbo Turkey Puncher Edition III Inside" sticker on the side of my case.
 
Looking at the X470 boards listed on NewEgg, I might have to get the Biostar X370GT5 or hope they pull out a similar updated board. I need those legacy PCI slots.
 
I reserved my on Microcenter's site. No payment required. If reviews are bad, I can just not go.

I don't think people are drooling, but in my case I hope AMD does well with Ryzen 2. We all need competition to drive innovation, so I hope Ryzen 2 gives Intel some more competition.
 
Also people need to realize. the 2700/2700k is 8c/16t CPU. If they can hit 4.4ghz on the it, it is really damn good. Just Compare the CPU to the Intel 8core CPU and see how far that CPU can overclock. Also look at the price comparison. Just my 0.02c

GPP only applies to graphics cards. Anything else can still be branded under AIB's respected "Gaming" sub-brands.

Waiting to see what the next-gen Threadrippers are like...
 
I'm most interested in how any x370 vs an equivalent x470 stack up with the same chip. I'm guessing barely any difference for most common loads.
 
Very hyped about this... only reason I'm not pre-ordering is I have a trip planned right after launch. I'm doing a new build, it's past time. That Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Gaming x470 is the sweet spot! Going 2700X, I see it as $30 more for the Wraith cooler, which is all I should need for 4.3 with XFR2 and who knows maybe 4.5?

Two thoughts:
1) If I had a 2600K vice 2500K I still would not be upgrading (those extra 4 threads make a difference now but not so much in 2011)
2) Would be nice if AMD had a 1080Ti equivent (or better) to have a pure AMD CPU/GPU build.

Why pre-order? Because it would be my luck it somehow does well at crypto mining and sells out overnight.
 
Hopefully, this will be the cpu that will replace my i5-3570k!

Terrible anology.

Even if it is a 0% gain over Ryzen, getting an 8 core cpu for $300 is still a safe bet.
