Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

I have a small form factor shuttle rig that I built awhile ago and am upgrading the graphics card on and I am running into an issue where I need your expertise.

The shuttle system I have is the SH67H3 if that info is needed. I am replacing an EVGA GTX 580 with a Gigabyte GTX 1060.

The problem I've run into is that the new graphics card, the 1060, partially sticks out a little bit and is getting blocked completely being inserted into the pci slots by the small metal flap that secures the pci hardware. . I've provided three pictures in the spoiler tag and can provide more if they are required.

I would mainly like to know what is the name of the hardware pieces I've circled in the pictures and what tool can I use to remove them? Once I can remove these I should be able to slide the graphics card in then place the flap back on and secure the graphics card.

Let me know if you guys need any more info and I will provide it asap. Thanks!

They are rivets and the cleanest way to remove them is to drill them out with a bit that is slightly bigger than the hole in the center of the front side.

Forgot to mention occasionally the rivet will just spin so you have to hold the back side with pliers or vice grips.

Okay, thanks Dermen. On a side note, how necessary do you guys think it is to put the flap back on after inserting the graphics card. Do you think it is necessary for securing the pci hardware or is it relatively safe to remove the flap and leave it removed for now?

I wouldn't worry about reinstalling it. Even if you decided to, I would file that spot down and reinstall it.

or you could drill out the holes fit normal case screws and just screw it back on after you install the card.

Yes. Those are pop rivets. An 1/8" drill bit should do it. Once you are through the outer flange rest of the rivet should fall right off.

Welcome to [H] by the way.

Invest in a dremel. Cut out a notch to the GPU fits nicely. No need to remove the bracket.

You could also possibly get away with some tin snips and a pair of pliers.

It might be easier to take the bracket off the GPU. Get everything past the bottleneck and then reattach it. Normally it's just a couple screws on the back side.
