Blizzard has announced that Battle for Azeroth, the seventh World of Warcraft expansion, will be released on August 14. The game is set immediately after Legion and sees a new conflict between the Alliance and Horde, taking players to two new continents, Kul Tiras and Zandalar.

Azeroth paid a terrible price to end the apocalyptic march of the Legion’s crusade—but even as the world’s wounds are tended, it is the shattered trust between the Alliance and Horde that may prove hardest to mend. As this age-old conflict reignites, join your allies and champion your faction’s cause—Azeroth’s future will be forged in fire.
 
Resubbed last month to start earning the new allied races and have been enjoying my time in the game. I don't have the time to be a hardcore anymore so I live all the casual friendly changes they have made are great.

I'm actually very excited for this new expansion
 
As a recovered EQ addict who played vanilla WoW; how is there only 7 expansions?
 
considering blizzards game philosophy, will we ever see a wow similar in graphics quality to say lost ark? or eternal lineage? or heck even black desert?

wow is fun but it will even better with nicer graphics :/

I haven't played the last 2 expansions, but it's pretty much summed up Blizzard takes their time creating expansions, plus they add major patch updates in between the expansions so stuff is paced out in a steady drip.

Basically you could say the initial release of an expansion is only 1/3 to 1/2 of the content the expansion is going to have.

They had a desire to deliver an expansion every year, but never achieved it. WoW's 5th expansion was a hot mess because they were so focused on building another MMO code named Titan. When they cancelled Titan they finally began focusing on WoW again increasing the size of the design team which eventually lead to Legion being released to high praises. Legion, to me, was the best, most polished expansion to date. Not only was the original content release expansive, there were regular content patches adding even more content with a weekly roll out of new stuff.

I was disappointed to hear that the theme of the new expansion was going to be Horde vs Alliance (I had hoped we'd moved past that), but given how good Legion is, I'm willing to cut them some slack until I get to play it.
 
As a former wow addict, I am so glad that they have made the expansions less fun. I tried to log in to my account like two expansions ago, and I couldn't play the game for more than half hour. That's when I knew I was done with that game, and I have not regretted it since.
 
And they still haven't released an engine upgrade. I mean even EQ had released a new engine and quite a few texture tweaks at this point in its life. Game art hasn't aged well at all.

Legion has been the best xpac since Wrath of the Lich King, IMHO. Suramar is probably my favorite zone in all of WoW.

They have upgraded it incrementally over the years. The rig in my sig manages 40-60fps with everything cranked. Of course, it drops in large raids. Not a bad looking game...I've always enjoyed its stylized graphics. Didn't care for Elder Scrolls Online, even though by most accounts it has better graphics.
 
Legion was a lot of fun until the end game grind for pathfinder, etc. Like I said. If I can't achieve a good gameplay experience within 3 months, I don't bother. One should never play a game more than a few months, unless truly a casual player that only hits the game for a few hours a week. These MMO's are VERY unhealthy games when played for long periods.

If your rig can't handle at least 80fps with that hardware, something is wrong. I was averaging 80-100 back in cata with lower specs and they haven't improved anything since then. I know because my wife has my old machine and still plays a few months a year.

Glad you like the art, I think it looks like shit from 2001.
 
I enjoy the game personally. I don't take it as serious as I used to, apparently something about 3-4 night raids till 3am are not wife approved anymore lol. Or the fact I am getting older and need more sleep :).
 
I stopped playing this in November last year. I started my account a month after the vanilla release and played up to cataclysm.

I skipped the MoP expansion and thought hell I wonder what’s changed and started back up in Warlords if Draenor. I wasn’t impressed to say the least and honestly while Legion started off great, it just felt less and less rewarding for the time I put in.

I ultimately decided to hang up the reigns indefinitely on this game. If their plans to bring classic servers live I might rekindle some interest.

I’m sure it is fantastic but I’ve been so removed from the story line I don’t have much interest anymore. I miss WoW gameplay as it was a bit more then a button masher (unlike most MMO’s) but I only cared for the story.

They have done more than that off the top of my head they updated all character models, animations textures, added advanced lighting ssao, high resolution shadows, shader based water, etc... Go in a legion zone and compare it to an old world zone, the difference is night and day. Game looks great at 4k. Granted the poly count is not really high and the game could really use some real time lighting, it has held up well over the last 14 years.

4k Wow...Lol stop..I just spit my drink out laughing at the absurdity of those graphics in 4k.

I mean honestly, you really dont see the models anyways, just a bunch of numbers on the screen. I heal so all I see is a grid of squares and green text lol

You should play WoW by feel. I'm going to start a "No UI" movement when the expansion comes out in August.
