New benchmarks for the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X are out, courtesy of El Chapuzas Informatico and Hardware Numb3rs. They appear to confirm earlier reports of the chip being overclocked to 4.3GHz, which is an improvement from the 1800X and 1700X. Wccftech has a compilation of the latest numbers here.

As expected, the chip runs at 4.35 GHz on a single core but lacks behind the Skylake CPUs in single core performance results. However, the eight cores and 16 threads help this chip deliver better MT (Multi-Threading) results. This is also the only testing which shows the Ryzen 7 2700X featuring poor latency compared to the Ryzen 7 1700X on the same memory configuration.
 
little lower than i had hoped but much better than the 3.8Ghz my r5 1600 caps out at.

There was one golden ryzen 1900x that could run 4.3ghz on water. That's the highest I had ever heard of, 4.2 and 4.1 were rare too. (4.3ghz link, they hit 1855 in cinebench)

I kinda wonder what those who win the silicon lottery could get on these chips? 4.4..4.5?

Not that it really matters for those looking to buy one.

After going through 3 motherboards and still having ongoing issues with my 1700, I switched back to Intel for a 7900x based build for my home office workstation. I'm pretty bitter about being a beta tester for AMD's first wave of Ryzen chips. Should have waited for the second gen.

Mind I asking, what brand of motherboard?
I went for the cheapest crap I could find as a placeholder and it have held up perfectly from day 1, and compared to X99 launch it was a dream.
xmp profile + .1V on ddr and all worky worky.

i thought amd cpus were cool with voltage if you kept the temps down?
A64, 2V!!!!
Amd cpu's tend to want more voltage than Intel, true amd recommends 1.45 max safe voltage and in my experience 1.5 V doesn't do shit unless you have LLC issues.

No, they can fry just like any other chip. Ryzen first Gen wasn't supposed to go over 1.50 for long term use. 1.68 is way higher than you would run on any AMD chip so far.
 
Interesting, would expect good chips to land closer to 4.4GHz.
Supposedly the IMC has been tweaked for higher speed ram, if so, I wonder that it could contribute to speed difference?
Buying binned chips is a thing now too.

If it is anything like Ryzens today CPU-Z shows Vcore which to my knowledge is a wrong value to look at with Ryzens. That is not the actual voltage the CPU is actually receiving, there is another sensor which is closer to the truth. HWInfo calls it SVI2.

That said, 1.6 is stupidly high. Svi2 sensor is usually just roughly around 0.05v-0.10v lower than Vcore. Must be a bug.

It looks like the lower latency is helping ipc. The CB score / cores / ghz ratio is higher than ever. It looks to be about 57 now instead which is higher than the 55 or so of CFL and Ryzen 1.

Very good sign for the future of the arch. Zen+ may not be the universal competitor that AMD needs, but Zen2 just might if they get all of the details dialed in.

Agreed, I'd also like to hop on board there too, Zen+ is looking good so far. More interested in the memory speed testing than the overclock if it's approaching the 4.4 range on early bios, have a feeling this is where we will see the biggest single gain.
 
Thanks for posting this. Is there any chance we'll get a launchday review for the R7 2700X from HardOCP?

I'm looking to see the cooler results with Prime95 Small FFTs.
 
CPUz has been known to report incorrect voltages before on new CPUs.
 
So long as the crappiest ryzen+ chips cap out at 4.0-4.1 ghz with descent voltage, it' a win.

Sure, there are those of us that can do this on the current Ryzen chips, but remember there are a few that can manage only 3.7 ghz too.

Wonder if these chips will clock any better (probably not)/have better latency numbers on a x470 board.
