Rare Voodoo5 9000 on video with gameplay!

Great video!
Card does look like the real thing!!!!
Wonder how it was made.

Seems like Crysis was just video playback or played on modern GPU renamed to Voodoo5 9000
Obviously VSA-100 chips do not support DX9 pixel/vertex shaders required by Crysis
Crysis does run in 2000 after some DLL file copying from XP so other card option is somewhat plausible.

Wind effect is nice but he overdid as it obviously seems to be blowing to the card from left side. Effect would be imho much better if it was more subtle.

But the thing I wonder the most and what is on everyone mind is :
How many BungholioMarks does this card have?

I'm sorry but indian tech supporters conditioned me to instantly hate anyone with an indian accent.

You see, racism is not inborn, it's learned.

Yup, their tech support is absolutely terrible :nailbiting:

But this guy doesn't sound like typical tech support either.
They are lower caste people tired with their crappy job they suck at and having constantly 'unclean' left hand. Please be more understanding because their lives are as crappy as their tech support.

Slightly quieter than the fx 5900 ultra
Nvidia by mistake attached vacuum cleaner. The same people who designed that thought they can do DX9 effects on DX8 hardware via emulation.
BTW Geforce FX there is interesting YT video about declining performance in NV drivers
It seems that at that time all their R&D budget went to removing computationally expensive dragons from benchmarks and other cheats https://www.geek.com/games/futuremark-confirms-nvidia-is-cheating-in-benchmark-553361/

That is a really interesting video!

I remember my Geforce 2 GTS, I saved for so long to get that thing. It absolutely smashed my Voodoo 3 out of the park in Quake 3 timedemo.

At GF2GTS time I bought GeForce 256 SDR then exchanged it for Voodoo 3 3000 (ofc. got also some money out of this transaction :p) because many games at the time were running better on Voodoo due to Glide support and/or supporting only 16bit which was horrific on NV cards until GeForce3 where they finally fixed it to workable mode. DeusEx was terrible on NV cards compared to Glide version on Voodoo (even today Glide with wrapper looks better than both D3D and OGL renderer displaying all effects correctly). Another one of my favorite games of the time, Severance Blade of Darkness had much nicer rendering with Glide renderer and more stable performance... as were many other games.

Oh and Voodoo cards had exceptionally good image quality due to great DACs and components used and also great desktop acceleration. 3Dfx for being synonymous with 3d only acceleration at the time did a excellent job at accelerating almost all GDI functions including no issues with video playback. Much better experience overall than owning early GeForce imho. Of course pas time passed games dropped glide support and started to use larger textures and effects which looked only good at 32bit so I bought GF2Ti though in retrospection I could as well wait a little longer and use this money to GeForce3 earlier because it was the first real game changer and first GeForce to be actually better than Voodoo5 feature wise (TnL was more of marketing gimmick and didn't really provide performance difference that we all saw thousandth of times watching 3dmark...)

3Dfx were the cards to have back in time before GeForce 3 and games with shaders started coming out.

I am mad at myself I haven't invested in Voodoo 4/5 back then.
The 3Dfx SLI was the only tech which did multi-GPU right:
- added absolutely no input lag due to it being SFR
- didn't suffer to micro-stuttering, also due to SFR
- worked in basically all games, no need for pesky game profiles or waiting for driver support
Before getting this GF256 I had for a short time Voodoo2 in SLI and it was truly great setup which worked almost as good as Voodoo3 did.
Of course V3 had improved rendering and didn't suffer image quality degradation in desktop due to all pass-through cables, far better 2d than S3 Virge or whatever crappy VGA card I had a the time and took one AGP slot instead of 3 PCI slots.

And as we all know using one AGP slot instead of few PCI slots is very important

Holy crap, a GPU that can actually run Crysis! That is it, no more can it run Crysis questions anymore!

Kind of sad, now that we finally have capable hardware, the game doesn't work anymore.

Tried to run Crysis recently and it was a big trouble getting it to run on Windows 10 and at anything 1080p or higher (4k in my case).

If anyone knows how to get Crysis running at 4k, please hit me up.

Only takes up 1 AGP slot!!! LOL.
While it may not have 32 chips... My Quantum3D AAlchemy 8132 (commonly referred to as the 8164 even though they only had 32mb per GPU) is an 8x VSA-100 and only takes one PCI slot :p They aren't even PCI-X, for that matter!

Glide was great in games that supported it, the problem is that at around the time the GeForce 2 was released Glide support was getting thin and 3dfx just didn't have the OGL performance Nvidia's cards had. Sadly the Voodoo 3 was a bit late to the party and quite a bit too light on performance to compete with the offerings from the up and coming Nvidia with their hardware T&L.

Still wish I'd never got rid of that Voodoo 3 though, pair it with a nice Pentium 3 and it'd be awesome for a bit of nostalgia.

3dfx was amazing back then. But I think that's just cause going from software rendering to hardware rendering was such a big jump.

I had a Voodoo 3000 in the first rig I built for myself. Good times.

Whole 3dfx story could end up differently if at the time they released Voodoo3 chip they finished and released Voodoo4. It had similar performance to V3 and all the features TNT2 had and more.
VSA-100, even stacked together was just not the kind technology which would allow them to compete with GeForce. Too little too late.

Also buying STB and exclusively releasing their own cards was very bad business decision

The 4 x Voodoo5 6000 setup is almost believable, except for the fact the "AGP" slot on the 4th card is cutting into the south bridge.

We all know such a setup isn't possible, but it's an almost flawless troll.
