Creative placement idea for a fan controller in a case with no front drive bays?

I just ordered a Fractal Define S because of Newegg's awesome sale price (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16811352054), but just now realized that I have no idea how and where to mount my fan controller(s). I've long been averse to using a motherboard's fan headers, but I also really like the look of the Define so would love to find a way to use both. Right now I'm using one 5.25" and one 3.5", though I could consolidate onto one.

Any suggestions on a way to do it without it looking stupid* would be greatly appreciated.



*Example of stupid looking would be just plopping a controller on top of the case.
 
Sure - get a NZXT Sentry LXE external touch screen fan controller. It sits on your desk so you don't look stupid as it was never meant to mount on the computer at all.
 
Why do you need a fan controller anymore? Do you really sit and adjust every fan? There is nothing wrong with using motherboard fan connectors....
 
mod it into the top front section of the face plate. or learn to use your onboard controllers.

Not all motherboards have the control options you want though. I've never seen a UEFI that would let me correctly control a fan channel based on coolant temperature, for example.

OP, that's a beautiful case for modding! Get out the Dremel and the blue masking tape and pop that sucker in there wherever makes sense for you.

Thanks for posting an actual suggestion instead of "derp why not do what u said not do in op". I swear, replies to help threads here are becoming worse than Reddit.

It was towards that, why are you averse to using them, they work fine, Van reply sure gives legit reason but your post seemed more like i do not like to use on board fan headers for some old reason that no longer applies in modern motherboards.

You can do that with software though the motherboard you have still defines what options you have. My Asus Maximus IX Hero would let the fans turn completely off if the fan curve said to and my X299 Gigabyte board won't :(

You might be able to do that with software, if the plants align on a Thursday and you're very picky about fan control options when buying your motherboard.

Personally, I just bought an aquaero and will never worry about what my mobo can or can't do ever again. XD

Well personally if that kind of info were in a mobo review I would certainly pay attention to it but that said using Argus Monitor I haven't had any issues across multiple platforms with reliability of my settings but my V3000 could be a hell of a lot more quiet if it had the same capabilities as my Asus board.
 
I use an NZXT Grid+ tucked away behind the motherboard tray. Been extremely happy with it
 
I also recommend the Grid+ - its a great controller - though it does take up a USB header and you've got to use the oh so lovely NZXT software.
