The Verge is reporting that Microsoft is planning on integrating Cortana into Outlook mobile. The article states that the integration is currently being tested internally by Microsoft, and will allow people to listen and respond to email using their voice. If feedback from the internal testing is positive, the feature should start making its way to beta and public released of Outlook for Android and iOS.
While I don't use Outlook mobile, I know several people who manage multiple email accounts who do, and for them I hope this integration is optional or non-existent. The few run-ins that Cortana and I have had did not end all that well.
News of Cortana integration in Outlook comes just weeks after Microsoft’s Outlook for iOS and Android boss transitioned to overseeing the Cortana digital assistant. Javier Soltero, who first joined Microsoft when the software maker acquired the Acompli email app, will report to Harry Shum, Microsoft’s head of AI and research.
