Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

Logged in tonight to find they finally swapped my loaner Andromeda with the Aquila and added the Ursa.
Flew out to Deymar for a jaunt around the surface in the rover which was a good bit of fun.

After 5 minutes though I noticed my ship was no longer on the pad so I drove back over to find it gone :( I know I kept it locked and had no stow away's so I figured it was stored somehow but sadly there was no way to retrieve it that I could find at the mining facility I was at. I could spawn my rover but nothing for orbital help.

Someone else showed up in a Dragon Fly (Mine is still missing :( ) and after they spawned a second one I borrowed theirs to fly around a bit which was a very different experience but also good fun. Going to be really hard to use that as is on the surface to fight fly and move around. Too fast but good fun.

After I killed myself to respawn at Olisar I gained a crime stat for flying the other guys ship and my Aquila was "stored" at "Placeholder" (mining facility) but I had to put in a claim.
My Ursa never de - spawned so hopefully it will still be in my account next time and I can file a claim.

Thats the down side of ships always remaining where they where, I could have spawned the rover on Olisar but now its at that facility I may have to claim it to enjoy it anywhere else lol.

Managed to dupe a whole bunch of my ships including ground vehicles. The bug is very inconsistent and hard to purposely duplicate but what I do know is that if you ever see copies of your ship(s) in your fleet manager make sure you spawn them all one by one then leave that server and go to another region and that will "perm" them.

Also spent some time finding ways to exploit the quirks in the economy. For example the prices of commodities vary even between the struts at Port Olisar. So Strut A may have lower prices than Strut D which means you dont even have to spawn a ship to make money. Just EVA around struts buying low and selling high. It's more complicated than that since there are margins you need to know and also each Strut has a limit of 300 SCU of any commodity and attempting to sell after they are full gives you an "undefined" or "transaction failed" error, but thats the general idea.
There is also the fact that on a fresh server prices start at nominal values so if you spawn in one you can buy out any one commodity at its lowest price then switch to another server (or another region) where that commodity is depleted and has a much higher price amd sell it there for massive profits. Keeping in mind that the max any one location can store is 300 SCU.

It's pretty crazy the amount of money you can make abusing those quirks but in the end it's pretty meaningless since it'll get wiped with every alpha patch.

This game will never be finished, hopefully they sell off or pass off the tech to someone and some kind of game comes out of it, at this point it's just absurd. They're 5+ years into development and it's basically still a tech demo, I get they're trying to achieve a lot, but this is one hell of a development cycle.

Oh and patch 3.0.1 with a bunch of quality of life improvements was being tested by Evocati yesterday and is now on PTU. I have a PTU invite already but I'm probably just gonna wait until it goes live.

This is what I do to trolls ramming parked ships lol. Normally I kill them outright but this time I took the time to destroy each engine of the Constellation and unfortunately I ran out of ammo doing that and couldn't destroy him completely so I just left the useless carcass floating. Note how the troll tries to play dumb in chat too.

Also If I see any other EMP ship in the server I stalk and kill them all. There can be only one!

Lol nice, I've only seen one player doing that but I was flying off and ignored him.

I want to play 3.0.1 but their interdiction testing has nuked it lol. Spent 5 minutes trying to get off the pad only to get interdicted 3 times as soon as I initiate QT then it hard crashed at 1fps.

Yeah it was on purpose https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...read/interdiction-frequency-data-collection-1

I did it for the first weekend but I had to take a break until they're done collecting all the data they need. There was also another bug related to it that spawned an interdiction group of ships across servers and across regions whenever it happened on any server lol. They fixed that server side without a patch tho.

Yeah I knew they were testing it but I'm not sure what they are really getting out of it as so few are really playing now with the ship spawn bug and the low performance. If they want to load the server there are ways they can let players do it. The current testing could be relegated to a few servers and the PTU / Evocati or something after a day or two. Maybe this is their way of keeping the bug reports down so they can focus on 3.1 ;p

So I was bummed out about the mag boots, but according to the recent developments video we are getting something much cooler. Very cool concept and mechanic to replace mag boots.

I literally came in here to say just this. And like you, I TOTALLY get what they're trying to accomplish, but they're doing WAYYYYYYY too much and they just keep running out of money. What they should have done was had a decent project manager to get them to focus on the single player with primarily ship-to-ship combat with a few ground skirmishes thrown in there. Let us enjoy that for a year or two, then they can work on the persistent universe. They obviously know we would support DLCs in this game by the stupid amount that most people have "donated". I have wanted this game for years now, but I haven't play...tested it since late 2016. I actually fired it up a week ago to see what's changed, and I couldn't even get out of the first room until I logged out a couple of times. Found that it's a pretty popular bug that started this passed January. Oh well.

What makes you think they have run out of money? Just because they keep selling ships doesn't mean they are running out. Personally I think its more of them using the money but having a huge amount in the bank just in case or for future additions and/or development. Sometimes i think they are just being hoardingly greedy. Pure capitalism at work I guess some would say. lol

Yup they'll behave just like mag boots but they will work on any surface removing the requirement/limitation of a metal surface and all we're "sacrificing" will be the sound effect. And all the tech is pretty much there already, the flightsuits and armors already have the small air jets to adjust rotation in true 6 degrees of freedom they just need to plug in an IFCS like system to keep us perpendicular to surfaces using them when we want to walk on them in zero G.

Very cool, I wondered a bit if it was going to be a microthrust type of deal or handwaving with some type of 'electrostatic~ish' jargon. I have to admit I was expecting either both together or just semi-magic... :)

Oh yea: Lorian, are you on widescreen? I can't see any chat in your video (not that it's important).

Check again, he doesn't say anything until 4:40 minutes into the video.

My monitor is 16:10, I used to record at 1920x1200 with my old system and after the upgrade now I use minimum 2560x1600 (like this video) or 3840x2400.

P.S: When hunting trolls or other people I don't really say anything during or after. If they can't connect a name with being killed they'll be more paranoid the next time they play and think of trolling because they have no idea who is watching their trolly behavior.

Nice, Idris total crew went from 21 to 81.

Hopefully that increase is to the benefit of the single player experience and won't actually be required to run the ship in the PU.

No kidding lol. The crew of the Bengal will be insane at that increase. I'm hopeful that includes fighter wing, repair, servicemen bridge crew, officers and engineers / repair crew. So it still can be 21 to run it but fully staffed O_O Good luck getting 81 players to join up for most folks though.

I wonder if for the Bengal they'll do some tricks with the item/entity container system, 'cause otherwise I can see the active crew count well into 300 or more.

Someday I'll see Levski in sunlight. Looks pretty in the pictures lol. In 3.0 I could only find it in the night time.

Delamar/Levski has a true 24 hour day cycle so what you can do is log into a region where it is daytime (or close) compared to yours and you'll get to see it.

I put in $80, and just decided not to touch it until I'm sure it's something that's ready for me to play. I've hopped in a couple of times, just to check things out, but I'm not going to attempt actually playing it until it's further along.
Pretty much my take on it. I only donated $40 just to basically "pre-order" it for when it releases in 2026.

Rest stop work in progress. They're releasing the "small" one first which can still dock 1 Capital ship.

Reststop_00.jpg

Here's the medium sized one for comparison

It allows 2 possibly 3 capital ships to dock

Pretty cool stations. I like how they look like they were ships that were flown out there and stuck together like some kind of modular station.

Ya, eventually they're gonna replace Port Olisar with one of those.

Also prepare yourself to see Port Olisar become even more janky than it already is lol. The largest landing pads of the station are going to become even larger to accommodate the Reclaimer being released in 3.1

Check your emails if you've participated on the Issue Council helping report/confirm/test bugs on any regular basis or have racked a decent number of hours in-game, invites to the evocati expansion are being sent out.
