DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

The 100x12 just fits after modification, I milled off 1.5mm in too strips either side so it sits up between the top frame. I can hear it at idle which I don't like, even with a noctua low noise adaptor. Considering it isn't really necessary I won't be keeping it. I will try the 80mm one at some point, it has PWM which my be quiet at idle and more effective at load due to higher rpm... I do love to tinker!

Any concerns about having the fan pressed up against the pcie extender?

I made a fan guard, specifically designed to keep the extender away from the blades without putting too much pressure on it. I've already removed the fan though, i preferred the computer totally silent at idle also I don't think the fan pushed much air at all. I will try the 80x11mm fan soon.

Looks like it belongs, shame it didn't work out. How fast was it running at idle? I've had the same concern with noise here too but a louder whisper beats the GPU flaring up to a loud 38% fan speed every 5 seconds under minor load because it doesn't get enough passive cooling (why can't they use PWM fans already?). Hence looking into this

Only 900rpm, but it was audible. Can't you set a custom fan profile on your GPU so they always spin? That way you might get them to constantly spin at something lower like 30% rather than jumping to 38%. I did that on my MSI card.
 
Has anyone fit g.skill trident ram while using the AIO? I read somewhere that they didn't fit.

ASUS GPU Tweak can't count from 0 to 38. Think Afterburner would let me then?
 
Probably will let you go lower that 38, there will be a minimum fan speed which is determined buy the fan itself though.

Well it works, I can get it down to 18 but it takes about 30 for it to not do the rattley sound it does when the fan spins down. Quiet but distinct, would probably not hear it so clearly if it wasn't on my desktop

It dosent fit.
The tubing is not long enough to go “under” the RAM slots.
And if you try go “over” the side panel cant close.
If you want to WC your CPU, get some other RAMs or make a custom loop.

Yea, are they ball bearing fans? They are usually like that, go too slow and they get rattley. I would have thought 30% would be quiet enough that you don't notice the noise after a couple of minutes? What rpm are they at at 30%?

1140ish. The sound profile of the fan becomes apparent at around 20%/750rpm, which I guess is a testament to how quiet my PC would be otherwise

1140rpm is a bit high alright, maybe try putting your case on the other side of your desk, gpu facing away, if you can.

I'd say a fan under the gpu/motherboard might be better at keeping the gpu from spinning up than adding an exhaust fan.

That was the plan with the NF-A9 in the drive bay but it doesn't manage it on it's own above essentially idle workloads, that also suffers from noise issues above 40% RPM.
But I got two of those 80mm Akasa fans coming anyway.. I'll be able to have both. One above, one below.

Thanks. I have Corsair vengeance 3200MHz already in my case, but I've been eyeing the 3600MHz kit to get more out of my 1800X (my box is not used purely for gaming and has applications that enjoy the enhanced memory performance). I would have preferred the g skill kit but the Corsair ones will do.

Edit: my case is already assembled with the AIO already, previously posted a few pages back.

I'm installing the the 545lc asetek aio with a noctua 92mm fan. I have the 8700k delidded and ready to go.

I haven't seen anyone post overclocking results with this setup because either:

A) No ones dumb enough to overclock inside of this case
B) The V2 hasn't gotten into enough hands of Kickstarters


You guys think there's a chance I would be able to overclock the 8700k to 4.9-5.0ghz at reasonable temps, delidded?

Finished my build today in the v2. The l9i isn't here yet, so I used a unused stock intel cooler I had left over from my 4690k.
I didn't even bother changing the pre-installed 4 years old thermal paste that was on the heatsink, lol. So far my 8700k hasn't burnt up.. running 80c at around 40% avg usage in games and it's undervolted.
GPU running 69c at 35% fan speed, nvme m.2 w/o heatsink in the front is 50c in gaming loads, all in all very pleased with the temps.

Going to delid the cpu when the l9i arrives. Also, didn't realize you had to put the mobo in first then the psu in this case. Had a bad time trying to cram the mobo in before I gave up and removed the psu.

I can't get enough tension to push the riser down on top to allow the fan to spin, I don't have a fan grill custom or otherwise to stop the riser getting into the blades in that case, and when it comes to the bottom the riser is rock solid. I don't know if I have to remove the motherboard or what to move it out of the way but that thing isn't budging, so I can't sneak a fan under there. Back to the drawing board.

Good news at least is Afterburner fan control is working somewhat well. I wear a good headset so I can't hear the bearing rattle anyway, but while playing SMITE last night I got the essential silence I deserve. No whirr every 5 seconds because the fan is going from 0 to 38% on a 55C binary fan 'curve'

Have you tried ducting the lower noctua fan over to the gpu side with a bit of card?

How would that work? My cable management's a bit shoddy, would be curious if that's another thing that won't quite fit, on the PSU side anyway

Yea you'd need to get the the PSU cables pretty neat and then I was thinking of a piece of card at an angle. Did you have a good look at these pictures regarding the top fan? He doesn't have a fan guard but maybe he just got lucky with the riser.
 
Previous build was an aircooled delidded i7-7700K, which thermal and power throttled during a synthetic benchmark like Prime95. In games the CPU was in the high 90°C.

This build (from the screenshot) has watercooling (Asetek 545LC) and it doesn't thermal throttle during synthetic benchmarks - not even after an hour of XTU stresstesting. Yes, the temperatures are high, but only during these synthetic benchmarks. I only use the system for gaming, and after several hour game sessions the CPU is in the low 80° when playing Quake Champions, it's even in the low 70° when playing Doom (both on 3840x1400 highest quality image setting). My box currently runs at all default settings, with turbo-boost enabled and no AVX-offset, it's all "default".

So yes, temperatures are high during synthetic benchmarks, and even then it doesn't thermal throttle - that's the important part. I'm not running these synthetic benchmarks all day long. A synthetic benchmark like Prime95 is not a real world situation - at least for me, this box is only being used for games.

Although delidding would surely help with the temperatures, it's not required for my situation...
 
Well if C7 copper does what it was advertised it might be able to cool an i7. The only other question is when is it's released it's already March :(

I contacted Cryorig about that cooler some days ago, here is the reply:

So i modded my V1 alike
Now i could´t figure efficient cable routings since it is not in my budget to use custom tubing&cables.
Then i was thinking about Dan´s Windowkit however i need about 0.6-1.1cm Clearance on the CPU side. I really like to fiddle around making my own however i am in need of the CAD file to get a custom 3D Print.
Ah and not to forget the 7700K performs like a charm on 5.1ghz (68-74C on load, since room temperature is affecting thus quite much). Next step would be obviously to eliminate the noise of my 1060mini (basicly just swiching to liquidmetal).

Wow right in time for Zen+ and the remainder of Coffee lakes! I have a Strix gtx 1060 on the way as everything else is OP. I'll just replace it in a year or two when the prices are hopefully better.
