DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

No, there’s a little space left there, but you’ll be blocking airflow through the vent holes

Here's a question / suggestion for folks with a Dan on hand...

Is there not room for a Noctua 14mm slim fan, at the top of the case, above the mobo / PCIe riser, where it takes the 180 degree bend?

Referring to this shot, it seems to me that the slim NF-A9x14 might just fit there!

Keen to hear back!
It won't fit, I tried. The 80mm one does fit, here is the link:

https://hardforum.com/threads/dan-a4-sfx-the-smallest-gaming-case-in-the-world.1799326/page-314

I tired a 12x100mm fan and it didn't fit, I'm going to modify it and then it should. I'll post photos this week.

I didn't know a fan could actually fit up there and be useful, thanks lads. Glad I didn't pack up the Elite 130 then, that 80x10mm fan will be perfect. I'll mount it with twist ties when I get home before finding a more permanent solution

Here is how Shavv did it:

P.S. you will have to tighten the bend on the ribbon cable and you do risk breaking it I suppose. If you look at GPU side the ribbon cable has a really tight bend so I should be ok. The real danger is damaging the solder connections to the PCI connection. So if you bend it make sure not to out put any pressure on the PCI circuit board.

Glad someone else had already tired / confirmed this.

I don't have the Dan on me... ...but because I'm scouring the images here, it seemed to me that there was room up there for a little something.

One last thought / question for today...

Is there an advantage to using the ASRock Z370M-ITX mobo, over the Asus Strix Z370-i mobo?

I mean, is the ASRock more compatible, or something, with various other cooling options / solutions? (And if so, which ones?)

(Or does the ASRock have other advantages? Any downsides?)

Thanks. Guess I won't be doing it though, doublechecked online while I was out and the Elite 130 side fan has a width of 15mm. Back to step one, wondering which way is best before buying anything

There are only 13mm so a 15mm thick fan will not fit above and under the board.

I have a reevan vanxie fan (it's from a low profile cpu cooler) under the mainboard, 80x10mm pwm. I used about 3 layers of 3M double-sided tape pads to keep it from scraping against the bottom. Motherboard temps overall dropped about 5C with the curve only at 30% and it's next to inaudible. I'd like to use a second one up top but I'm out of fan headers and I'd rather not use a molex or sata converter.

Just use a splitter? These small fans use very little power.

Figured already, nice to have the official word on it though. Good luck to the guy who wants to use the 12mm fan, hopefully sanding it down will get them a result

akasa ak-fn076 80mm slim fan

I didn't mean just that (floated 3x40mm fans as intake or exhaust) but yeah, I see that's the specific fan used.

Ah ok, honestly I haven't really heard anything good about the 40mm fans. Noisy and they don't push much air. I researched them quite a bit. Also the cost goes up when you have to buy multiple fans too.

My 980ti currently has a ek block on it and it used to have evga hybrid cooler on it before that.
So for me to use it in my v2 I'd need to procure a reference cooler for it, but there's none for sale on ebay or anywhere else.

Are there any two slot aftermarket heatsinks that anyone knows about that would fit in the dan case and support reference 980ti pcbs?

I have an EVGA ACX2 Cooler for TITAN X (maxwell)...should work on your 980 ti? :)

First post here. Just wanted to thank everyone in this sub. All the pictures helped greatly while building in this amazing case. I managed to keep the front USB with the Asetek AIO. Just did a little trimming around the rubber part where it meets the plug. Still functions 100% like normal. I even installed windows using the front port.

Hello good people:)
Finally, the case arrived to mother Russia. I was waiting for this so much.
Dan, thank you very much for everything, case is amazing!

So, my build is here.

Core i7-7700 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
Asus - ROG STRIX Z270i GAMING Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard
Noctua - NH-L9i 33.8 CFM CPU Cooler
Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Samsung - 960 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
Samsung - 960 PRO 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
EVGA - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC2 Gaming iCX Video Card
Corsair - SF 600W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular SFX Power Supply

I have jus one question: is that okay that GPU touches back of PSU?
Cause everything runs quiet, but psu is much louder tnan it was in my previous build (in NODE 202)

I was really impressed by the results 3-5°C cooler on idle and 8-10°C load with the fan duct vs without.

Is the Noctua fan in the photos posted by Woxys, blowing air onto the CPU heatsink, or sucking air away from the CPU heatsink?

I feel like it's gotta be blowing air onto the heatsink... but, would just like to check / confirm with you folks.
