Yes, I'm fully aware that it's appalling premature for speculation on the OnePlus 6, but one well-known outlet claims that the OP6 aims to be the first phone with a true on-screen fingerprint scanner. If it turns out to be true, I'll be the first in line for this phone.

It can't be the first true one cause Vivo already released the first one.

What's a Vivo phone?

BBK Electonics owns Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus and the reason why they all are very similar.

OnePlus phones have been very similar if not the same (with a couple of tweaks) as Oppo phones since the OnePlus One.

If Vivo already has it, it is very likely OnePlus will use the technology as well in the 6.

Shit you’d think the fingerprint scanner is the fucking fleshlight for your fingers and phones. The industry is moving on find a way to adapt.

I know it’s not for everyone but my finger scanner less iPhone X is fantastic. FaceID scans and authenticates me faster than I can swipe up.

Meh one feature does not make up for other miss steps. When it comes I will evaluate as a whole. If my s7 edge needs to be replaced I will do so. If not, not going to waste money.

Chinese smartphone market is like the biggest market in the world right now. Although you might not see it in America, it doesn't mean they don't exist or have a rather large market share.

I'm enjoying it as well. Works in the dark as well as light. Being able to use it to log in to PayPal, banking, etc is a bonus as well.

The fingerprint scanner on the back of my Nexus 5x is awesome and will likely be a requirement for my future phone. It's unlocked before the screen is even facing me.

Reviving my old thread with a cool video of the OP 6. Hope this is the real deal.

Pretty sure that is just some random person's concept video and this isn't anything official.

Check to see what Oppo is releasing. OnePlus takes that and upgrades the hardware, adds Oxygen OS and might tweak it a little more but the bones of whatever Oppo releases is typically the base for OnePlus.

The most recent example is the 5T and Oppo R11s.

OnePlus 5 and Oppo R11 before

You get the picture that has been the case since the OnePlus One and Oppo Find 7/7a released

I can already tell you what it will have

Same screen as the 5T. Change the 835 for the new 845. Possibly a finger print scanner under the screen but I really done care for this. (Perfer back location) and I hope a single camera module with much better performance. Other then this and oreo 8.1 out if the box I don't see alot if changes. They have a pretty good formula minus the sub par camera.

Just hoping for an overall new design.

Would like to see them add some water resistance. That's one thing I like that the flagships have. I don't ever purposely get my phone wet, but I appreciate not having to worry about it with my S8.

This claims to be the first leak of the OP 6. If true, then no on screen fingerprint scanner. It also has the iPhone X notch and a glass back. Maybe wireless charging is on the 6.

I wouldn't dump my P2XL for this. Only 2018 phone that now interests me is the Pixel 3.

That would be very disappointing if true. It doesn't have the classic Oneplus switch for notifications though.

Would be nice if they actually released one compatible with Verizon.

I was thinking the same think kirbyrj. This cat and mouse game of rooting phones and putting lipstick on a pig is getting old.

If Apple, Google, Motorola, Samsung, etc can do it, why can't they? How much increased cost can there really be?

You guys know that the world is bigger than the United States, right? OnePlus isn't a premium brand, so they have to sell on the cheap. They sell a single model that covers most of the world's 4G radios. And I would also imagine that China and India markets take precedence over US's because American consumers are used to buying from the carrier.

Motorola uses a mid-tier SoC in order to sell mid-tier phones at the same price OnePlus sells high-ends.

And you get what you pay for.

#neversettle

How much difference is the cost really going to be adding Verizon support? It's not even about CDMA anymore as Verizon sells non-CDMA phones themselves.

Verizon's current only non-cdma phone is a flip phone that they announced in July 2017, why would OnePlus get out of their way to support Verizon when the OnePlus 5 was announced in June? As for Sprint, I don't know how many more bands the Qualcomm SD 835 could support or could the device holds more antennae for Sprint's LTE bands, so even if sprint supported LTE only phones, I doubt that OnePlus could even do it. I don't know about the SD845, but even if it could physically support Sprint's LTE bands, it would go back to Sprint on whether they would support LTE only phones. Once again, I'm pretty sure America is not OnePlus's biggest market. So even if the SD845 could support extra bands, I would imagine that they would add bands that would lead to the most sales.

The SD835 can easily support CDMA, what are you talking about? We have actual SD835 phones that work on Verizon and Sprint along with the rest of the carriers (e.g., the Essential phone).

You totally misunderstood my statement. Every SoC or cellular connectivity chip has a physical limit on supporting some n-number of bands at a time. (Certain bands overlaps with other bands, so this n-number could look larger than its physical limit.) What this n-number is for the SD835 or the SD845 I don't know. The OnePlus 5/5T has already been designed to support a whole lot of bands, so they could sell a single model worldwide. Do they have additional unused band capacity able to support Sprint's LTE? I don't know. But I doubt it. (The OnePlus 5/5T does support all of Verizon's bands though.) As for the OnePlus 6 with the SD845, which does have an increase of the physical limit (compared to the 835), I still don't think OnePlus would support Sprint's bands, cause they'll likely be used to support whatever band from carriers from other countries with customers more likely to purchase the OnePlus 6.

So I did not say SD835 doesn't support CDMA, but rather the OnePlus might not have the ability to support Sprint's additional bands. And even if there is enough band support on the chip level, is there room on the device for additional antennae for those bands? How many bands and carriers worldwide does Essential support for its one phone model?

Asus Zenfone v and lg elite lte are both smartphones, so that's not accurate anymore.

I hope thats not the 6, we do not need more fragile glass phones with worthless "wireless" charging :(

I'm neither here or there on the Notch. An in screen sensor would be nice provided the one on the back for finger prints is retained. Keeping the 5T screen is fine as well. With light / moderate usage I squeezed over 5 days out of a charge on my 5T last month.

If they go glass so goes my desire to trade up or get one for my wife.

Looking forward to this. I really liked my 3 but the camera focus thing died I really need a camera for work to scan things quickly so I picked up a used axon 7 but it's been a disappointment
