Danger, Will Robinson! Netflix Bringing Lost in Space Back to the Little Screen

I know us older [H] denizens remember the original Lost in Space series that we watched as kids. Unfortunately, almost all of us remember the lame reboot from back in 1998 that starred Matt Leblanc and the hot Heather Graham. Anyway, all of that is behind us now and we can look forward to a new reboot of Lost in Space on Netflix starting on April 13th. I hope this one does the original one justice.

You know, back then, I too thought it wasn't that great. But compared to most movies today, it was actually pretty good. Generally speaking, thought the casting was pretty good (I liked Major West, liked the kids and really liked Dr. Smith). The worst part was the muddled story line, but given the mess, I thought they did ok saving the movie (let's just say LiS "save" was 10,000,000 times better than SW Ep 1-3's intentional stories).
 
Netflix is really upping their game as far as original content- Stranger Things, Altered Carbon, Daredevil etc...HBO is still the king of original series but Netflix is spending billions of dollars trying to catch them
 
So does the first episode explain how Judy Robinson gets her tan? Maybe radiation from the accident?

Seems that Dr Smith won't be goofy like the original series, but more like Gary Oldman in the movie... Lets see how that plays out.

Pretty much this, they screwed the pooch by setting up way to much for a sequel instead of making a tight, well scripted movie and letting the chips fall where they may. The fate of many 90's movies, too many hooks for a sequel without enough thought and care on the pilot.

She was born in 82, so late 90s puts her age at 14-17 years old... you dirty dirty boy :D

Came out in 98, Lacy Chabert would have around 14-15 while filling. She's a big Hallmark actress these days and my wife is always watching those movies.

I kind of figured this was going to happen. Stupid show, which worked for this show, but old sci-fi nuts will watch it just because.
 
For me as a kid, I saw Lost in Space as Gilligan's Island but in.....well, space. I was not a fan of Gilligan's and I did not get into Lost in Space either. I watched several episodes of each, and kind of see the appeal, but even when we only had three channels, I could not get into it.

Hellz yeah.. she was prolly the hottest girl I could think of in high school at that time. I fuggin loved her in Not Another Teen Movie (love the movie overall too as cheesy as it is) and she was hot as always in Mean Girls too. Whoever got with her was lucky af.

The original series was pretty funky, I remember watching it but liked Star Trek or even Gilligan's Island better.

HBO manages to put out 2-3 interesting series at a given moment at best. To me any way. While people disagree with me on what those 2 are, it's a pretty common pattern I see. I run into a lot of people, me included, for whom netflix is beating out HBO in number of entertaining shows per year.

Netflix is beating HBO in terms of total number of content released in any given year...but the overall quality of HBO still surpasses anything Netflix has...Netflix doesn't have anything on the level of Game of Thrones, Westworld etc

"Goofy", that's one way to describe him. When I first read the headline my first thought was, "I sure hope they don't go all SJW with Dr. Smith's "quirky tendencies" and take them to a whole new level that involves the kid".
 
"Danger Will Robinson" usually what I say as I leave bathroom ( I just pooped in) and closing the door behind me...
 
Let me see: Will will be an asexual hermaphroditic kid, who will switch between sexes, over the course of the season. The two teenagers will be lesbian. The parents will only appear white, but will be really be multi-racial / cultural and use white face to hide their secret. Just helping Netflix stave off the criticism I can already guess is out there about this preview.

Most critics would disagree, even though I loved the remake as a kid, by kid I mean 11, lol.

Most of HBOs newest material the last few years has mostly sucked imo anyway. Westworld is/was good yes, but I wouldn't personally say its any better then the best Netflix has been doing. Past that true detective was fantastic season one, and crapped the bed after that. Silicon Valley started strong and has been treading water imo, Veep wins a ton of awards but I personally know no one that watches it. Unless I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff netflix seems to have 10x the amount of quality content... but perhaps they just have more stuff I care about, I guess such things are subjective.

GOT is no doubt the biggest show going right now still it has one more season, and its going to be a short one... when it hits in 2019.

Hopefully HBO has a bunch of stuff in the wings... be nice if they all keep pushing each other to turn out quality.

Westworld was ultimately flat as far as plot goes, but the filming and FX where spot on.

GOT.... I couldn't get into it, read the books years before, started season one and just lost interest. It is a well done show.

HBO always has one perfect serial, and a few good one offs at any given time (true detective season 1!). Netflix has a decent amount of great shows, nothing perfect like HBO but they are getting close.
