Ok, so I got a Alienware M17 R4 that is about 1yr old. It has the Killer 1535 in it. I have Gigabit service at home and lately my wireless is only getting between 175Mb and 250Mb. So I tried with brand new cat 6 cable and it will only get those speeds also.

Only in safe mode with networking can i get 850 Mb's.

I reinstalled windows and newest drivers. No change in network speeds for the laptop.

Same speeds for wife's desktop with Intel 7260 wireless.

My plex server though is getting 850 Mb's on cat 6 100' cord.

Router is a Linksys max stream AC 1900 (ea7500) only a year old but on warranty still. Thinking of taking it back for a Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200.

I did order 30 min ago a Intel 9260. Hopefully that will fix my wireless but why would hardwired be showing the same speeds.

I have read software might be to blame. Trying using the nic without software and drivers only if possible? Check power plan settings too

The Killer software is absolutely trash - uninstall the software set, and all drivers associated, then reinstall with drivers ONLY.

I repeat - no one should ever use Killer NICs with their trash software.

Ok, nothing done but the router off for a week and everything is now full speed. Still getting rid of the killer card for the new interl 9260.

Let us know the results - don't forget to remove all the Killer drivers and software when you have the Intel installed. Good luck!

Took router back and Best Buy replaced. Got a nighthawk x6s. A lot better.

But according to Alienware killer wireless is not compatible with linksys and NETGEAR and a whole lot of other brands.

Still waiting for intel card to get here. 4 1/2 weeks later.

Just did the opposite, replaced intel card with older killer (1250 or something) I had laying around, and wow what a difference! Manually installed drivers only, no software, via device manager. Getting full speed and range is way better. I have Asus router with Marlin firmware.

being an early adopter kind of guy, I bought the killer nic back in the day when they first launched. the marketing made sense.
the product ...did not. they through users under the bus, immediately. software never really worked etc. sadly, a great idea, that was only pimped for the cash, with zero or little support.
