Any 40-43" 4k without PWM?

Sony 43" X800D (very hard to find) and 43" X800E (still available from Amazon and Crutchfield).

Sony is releasing some new lines, X850F and X800F, this year. Both will have a 43" model. (y)

Cheers guys, somehow I get the feeling those are about it yeah? They look pretty good how do you guys like them? Would be for computer use, workstation. The PWM on my 27" 1440p Asus screens, (older ones before their new eye care models) messed my eyes up for a bit and I've been using SunsetScreen for now.

The Sony 43x720e has no pwm, is 4k 4:4:4 has no ABL in graphics picture mode and has 18.7ms lag. It is direct lit vs edge lit and has no vertical banding or dse, less then any tv i have ever used. Comparing it the LG oled c7 and the 43ud79, I prefer the Sony due to superior uniformity vs them for gaming. No banding on any color including light greys. Also it has no issue with the 14 pixels on all sides disappearing when near it like the ud79. The 43ud79 also has horrible vertical banding and comparing it all day today vs the Sony 43x720e, it is no contest, the Sony wins!

You can get it for $550 pretty much everywhere and It will not disappoint!

You should be aware that not all displays have the same minimum brightness. My Sony TV for example can't get very dim, so is it really better than a pwm display? Not clear...

How far down can you turn the brightness on those Sony's? I don't need it too dim, as long as it's not blinding bright.

I don't have a measuring tool that would allow me to quantify it, but it's very usable on the minimum setting. (This is a Sony 800D I'm talking about).

As a completely made up example to illustrate the point, suppose one display is non-pwm and has a minimum brightness of 100 nits. And another display uses pwm, but only below 100 nits. The pwm display would be equal or superior for all uses.

HP has just released the Z43. I don't know if it uses PWM so you better check it out.

I've been using a Sony 4K TV for about a year, but have had a few Samsung 4K TVs for monitors, too. I honestly can say PWM never bothered me at all.

A couple pics of my X800D at min and max brightness. Not a huge difference.

Dell P4317Q....

My brother got one (he's a day trader). The software that comes with it allows pretty cool customization for multiple windows/displays. I'm looking at picking one up when they start to drop in price

I'm considering this as a potential from the fence. I keep going back and forth with something like this vs the whole high refresh rate g-sync monitor argument with myself.
Same.
Though i think ill be skipping it and wait for a decent 120hz 43incher.
While XF850 looks interesting and has a native 120Hz panel, it only supports 60Hz inputs...bummer

I was looking at this before, looks fabulous. But it's PWM.

Overall that Dell isn't a bad value at all if you're in the market for a larger business monitor and PWM doesn't bother you.

I often do projects around the clock so working nocturnal is frequent where I need to turn the brightness down.

I never had a prob with PWM at 90%, but then I started doing it 50-60% for a few months, then my eyes became very sensitive to light. To make things worse I would then lower it to like 10%. Totally freaked me out for a while until I saw the eye doc and realized what was going on. Back to using just 100% now with a SunsetScreen app which dims pretty decent without looking like an opacity filter.

Was reading a bit how some panels have a faster PWM frequency than others, not sure if that helps.

The Sony looks like a great option, but screens like the Dell and LG that come with those multi window apps are very appealing.

Wouldn't it be easier/better just reduce brightness in Nvidia Control Panel?

You can use an app like WinDivvy on a Sony, Samsung, etc. 4K TV to divide the screen into multiple windows. It works well whenever I use it.

Is this just a windows manager tool? As in managing multiple open windows from one input. For a second I thought it was software to allow multiple inputs (PBP) on one screen like a true big screen monitor does.

all major brand TVs don't have PWM at max brightness setting.

My TCL 43 has comfortable max brightness around 300nits or a little less, and at this setting, there is no PWM.
I don't like my screen dim where whites start to look gray.

Samsung TVs have no pwm as long as you stay above 12/20 brightness.

Interesting, and it explains why I've never been troubled by PWM on any Samsung I've owned. I keep my brightness settings rather high.

Was running AMD and they don't let you adjust the brightness anymore, freakin clowns. Popped in a Nvidia and will give it a try.

Picked up a Samsung 40" on a steal and will try it this way, if anything I could just re-purpose it as another TV if I don't like it.

But this thing is a mammoth on the desk. Gonna have to see if I can get used to this. Might want to go to a 32". I'll try it for a week and see if I get used to it.

I went from 23" to 43". Feels perfect because font size is about the same.

I've been looking forward to the 43" F models, but I still don't see any. I wonder if they will ever be available?

...I just checked the dates that the X720E and X800E first became available on Amazon, and it was June 13, 2017 and February 10, 2017, respectively. It's not June yet, so I guess there's still hope.

Not sure when the 850F/800F models will be available, but my hopes were crushed when I learned that we can't get the 43" 850F. Sony is releasing only the 65", 75" and 85" models in the U.S.:(

I’ve got both the 800D & E 43s. Absolutely love them both.
I was wondering when an F is releasing.. I guess never? That’s not good!

I mean these 43s have been absolutely wonderful. So easy on the eyes.
