The Division - officially announced for PC!

I suggest doing the LZ(light zone) named bosses too if you want some better gear, they also drop classifieds(about 3% drop rate). Start with Bullet King and work your way counter clockwise. Resets every 4 hours. Also you'll know it's a classified because it has a different sound when dropped.

Edit: This is how you know you've a classified gearset piece

Solo resistance farming might seem difficult at first (and it is if you don't at least have some decent gear), but once you run it a few times to get the hang it should become easier. During the boss rounds take down the boss armor, then leave him alive while you kill everything else, then only kill the boss when there's like 15 seconds left. You can also farm it in groups, (there's always ppl matchmaking for it), though the strategies might be a little different in each group. Just follow the leader.

On the sub I see players mention that the devs said in the past they will up the classified droprate once the next global event (starting tomorrow) is over. I think almost all the content in the game is doable with the regular sets, such as mixing a 4 pc setA with a 2 pc from setB. They drop like candy and are sometimes sold by certain vendors.

Thanks. I avoided groups because the guides said it increased the requirements to open doors so much. I knew to make wave 4 & 5 last as long as possible (Boss) to get the most enemies, but I just couldn't kill them fast enough, while surviving, to get enough SHD to open the door. In the videos, these guys would have enough by wave 4 to open the door + the box. I was barely getting enough by wave 8 to open the door, and then dying. I ended up in the DZ (my old stand by) where I got a couple Calssified items, and I optimised a couple weapons, so I may give it another try.

Well since the Global Event was running, I spent about 6-7 hours in Lexington. Still hunting for a "House" for my D3 build, but I did get several Classified, including a full Tacticians (that I don't know what I'm going to do with yet). I had a boatload of exotics before the patch that were converted, a few worth keeping, and a few decent M4's, but no builds to go with them yet. I may work on a Striker & Reclaim for my main, finish the D3 for my alt and maybe Tinker with Nomad if I pick up enough of them.

Sounds like you’re hooked again. *nerdy high-five

Another good map for speed runs in challenging is Hudson Refugee Camp, came across this post on Reddit. YOu get the same amount of Global Event tokens as Lex

Edit: I highly recommend doing a LZ named boss run every 4 hours, you get 150 GE per named boss and they're easy to kill and there's 15 of them. Most of them have been dropping more greens than yellows since the GE started.

Full Tacticians go with a sticky bomb/seeker build or turret/seeker it's incredibly strong and is very satisfying. I've been using a fully upgraded PP-19 and it's pretty damn strong a MP5 is also a good choice for a D3 build so don't drive yourself too crazy looking for the "House".

I've been using an older MP5 N that I "optimized". Works well enough for now, but would still like a strong "House" with good talents. Seeker Mine / Scan Tactician sounds like fun, may give that a go. D3 & Striker will probably be my two favorites alongside it.

Any of guys played Dragon's Nest? I've never done it before and don't feel like playing it with randos/PUGs. Same with Clear Sky. Could use some help. Been watching youtube videos.

They've really made it easier to gear up. I hadn't played since just before 1.6? Whenever they added loadouts. In just a few hours of solo'ing intel missions, some survival runs (3 bad spawns in a row with one getting me into the dark zone with just a pistol) and running last stand a couple times I've gone from 200 to 250.

Good reclaimer or smart skill build with a good box really makes this pretty easy. Just kind of long at the end.

I solo'ed DZ08 & 09 for about an hour last night with an old AlphaBridege set. GS280, with a couple good M4's. I had to be careful not to let myself get mobbed, but I was amazed at how fast I was taking down enemies compared to my other builds (all of which are piece meal, unoptimized, WIP builds). MarcoStyles says the new AB is "meh", even bad compared to Striker, Nomad & Lone Star, so maybe something about the old pieces being converted to the new GS score is bugged. IDK, but I was having fun and making bank. Of course the server I was in was empty, so Rogues were not an issue... different story otherwise.

Trying to collect Striker now, but the game is not giving it. Don't think I've seen a single Striker Classy yet (only been back 4 days though).

Yeah, that set will be rough to collect until that GE comes round again. Hell, I'd put 4 piece striker against 6 piece AB right now with the right build for PVE. I don't PvP much so can't comment intelligently about that.

Since completing the campaign about 3 weeks ago I've been playing the end game content and I have been enjoying it for the most part. Spent time in the dark zone (focusing solely on PvE), dabbled a bit in the underground, the west side piers and a small amount of resistance farming. Opened over 100 superior caches of the current global event, to complete the 4 classy sets it offered even though I wasn't interested in any of them at the moment.

Completed my 6 piece classified striker's set yesterday as well, got most of the pieces from the dark zone, and a couple from resistance. This is what my character looks like now:

Using an assault rifle mostly, with either the 'devil/heel' snipers or 'the house' smg as secondary. Though I have some complaints (like the chat windows should be more functional, the stash size is too small, or the unbalanced gankfests in the dz (some set bonuses should not work for PvP, makes you almost immortal)) - this game is in a pretty good place atm, it seems 1.8 was a great time to jump in.

I have some regular Strikers, and I just picked up a Showstopper last night, so I may have to give that a go. I'll probably still default to my M4's for most things, but as long as I'm farming Lexington during the GE, the SS seems to work well.

Man... so, last night I was in the DZ with jmaker & friends until they all bailed on me about 7pm. So I grabbed some diner and match made in the hopes I wouldn't have to solo all night. This guy joins me and we start farming DZ07-09. It's going well enough, seems like a nice guy, we're both talking about how we just came back to the game, didn't know what a Global Event was until about 4 days ago. Then he asks me if I like to PvP. I'm like, I'll back you up dude, but I suck at PvP. I'm old school MP, if it requires more than just shooting them about the face for a couple seconds, I usually lose. He's like, "that's fine, you may go down but I've got a nearly god-rolled Nomad so I'll clear them and try to pick you up." Okay man, knock yourself out, I'll do what I can to help out. The night goes on and one of his buddies joins us, we're not pursuing players, but if we encounter any that are the least bit cocky or Rogue already, they just wreck them. I hang back and throw my spitballs as a pitiful contribution. We pick up some mostly junk loot, but a couple classy's. End of the night comes and we're in the terminal calibrating / optimizing, his buddy bails, we're talking specs and he confesses he's been hacking the whole time. Tester for 3 of the major cheat sites, trying to build a set that's strong but not obvious. Wants to know if he was believeable or a dead give away.

Shit.

So we did a few rounds of Resistance and parted on good terms. He wasn't an asshole, but he was doing asshole stuff. Not sure if I could convince him to go legit (says he hates farming), but I may try.

that's no good. no fault of your own obviously but man cheaters are frustrating. i'm terrible at PvP in The Division against legit players (at least i assume they are). put me up against a cheater and i have zero chance.

Yeah, he went down once the one time we went Manhunt and the whole server came after us, but I think that was not to draw suspicion. Looking back, he was constantly in menu, even standing in the middle of nowhere with mobs around, or in front of players you could just tell were going to go Rogue. He mentioned he could change his RoF through whatever program he was using, so im betting he could also toggle Nomad's revive ability from 50% chance to 100%.

The rogue system is one of the most annoying aspects of the game.... and probably worse are the hackers that pretty much ruin the game for everyone else...

So I wound up with 137 GE caches. Of those, I got 22 exotics and 153 Classified pieces. I know I missed some field caches, and Gear Set Caches along with at least a few world bosses. Mostly got the pieces I wanted missing like 5-7 misc pieces with the right stats on them across all four characters. My buddies also got most of what they wanted at roughly half that cache amount. Got all the gear sets now and my cheese patch. Yeehaw.

For anyone interested in the distribution, I kept track of some of it:

EDIT: Hrm, can't share the google docs sheet. /shrug Probably only interesting to a couple folks.

I only ended up with a few bits of classified gear. I didn't farm too much, mostly Lex until sick of saving Ramos/Raymos. I did get a mask for killing guys from behind cover and managed to get my first MDR and a House.

For only having put maybe 30 hrs in the game since the GE started, I got a full Tact 6 pc, full Firecrest and about a third of Reclaimer, AlphaBridge & Deadeye. Also picked up The House, Showstopper, Devil, Tenebrae, Hildr & "Demascus". *mockiing snort* Still need almost all of the Striker & Nomad pieces I was hoping for, but I can't complain. Grinding out Div Tech as much as possible.

Did lots of Lexington the first couple days, did a fair amount of Resistance too, but ended up back in the DZ as always. Unless I'm getting Rogued, it seems the place that wears on me the least. DZ07-09 have been a nice addition. Really wish I could explore that Carrier on the Piers though; missed opportunity that. Still, I'm just glad they are still developing this game.

Dang, the hacks are back huh.

I have only run into one (discriped above) in my time back, so I don't know if it's all that, but the dude did say the Devs don't seem all that concerned unless you get caught by a Streamer / Youtuber.

I only got 19 superior caches with mixed results. Had a good amount of classifieds though. I am happy that I earned the 3 masks with friends since I never acquired a mask before the event.

I lost count of how many caches I opened once I got the commendation. I have enough classy Alpha Bridge sets for all 4 toons and 2 Tac sets and 2 Hunter's Faith sets. One set of Firecrest. A couple of Devil and Heel MMR.

Still need Striker's classy hostler to complete that set.

Nomad 6pc classy set is great for the solo player, well worth it if you don't have Striker's.

RNGesus hated me during this global event! I lost track after I bought my 50th superior cache but I got 3 full sets of Firecrest and NONE of it rolled with the right stats not to mention it is a useless set. I got 5 pcs of Tactician, 4pcs of Alpha Bridge, 2 pcs of Lonestar and the best part I didn't get a single exotic weapon. Now that they have done 4 global events and every set has classified gear they should kill off legacy sets or at least up the drop rate for classified gear I think it's something like 1% right now.

They are increasing the drop rate now the GE is over. Not sure if it was a Tweet or in the last SotG, but it is confirmed. Not sure by how much but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Drop rates are currently as follows:

  • -Dark Zone Named NPCs: 3%
  • -Light Zone Named NPCs: 3%
  • -Contamination Event: 3%
  • -Last Stand Cache: 1%
  • -Underground Cache: 1%
  • -Survival Cache: 1%
  • -Field Proficiency Cache: 1%

Doubt they'll go up much, but I won't complain if I'm wrong.

I usually get a classy gear set piece every other trip around the LZ doing the 15 named bosses but they tend to drop alright high end and non classified gear too.

if you are having issues then you need to look at your gear and make sure it is all recent, anything more than a few levels old needs to be replaced.

Nope, if you are having issues it's because the devs have ignored reality in order to create a gaming experience that is totally unrealistic but they think is challenging and fun.

This is the only issue there is with this game, but it overshadows everything that you do.

Odd that this is not a universal experience then since we all have the same devs.

Ignored reality in creating a gaming experience. That's your problem right there.

But yes, I need to try to catch up with some of the Classified sets. Mainly d3 and flame turret. I love my super shield right now :D

I'm one piece away from having a full set of D3 Classy's and I'm already enjoying the set more than the original version. It has even come in handy for PvP (in a team), which you could never say about the 1.5 version. Using MarcoStyle's build for the most part with some old Damage Resilience mods for the shield. Not sure if they still scale as well as they used to, but my shield rarely goes down, so I'm not complaining.
