The Overwatch League is suspending pro player Felix "xQc" Lengyel for four games and fining him $2000 after he blasted an opponent with anti-gay remarks. His own team, the Dallas Fuel, is supporting the league’s decision with a suspension of their own. This is more fuel for the critics out there who believe that eSports has plenty of growing up to do.

Wilmot used the line "rolled and smoked" during the OWL stream, a crack that Lengyel is known for, which led Lengyel—who didn't play in the match—to react angrily in a post-match stream. "No, you didn't smoke sh*t. Shut your f*cking mouth," Lengyel said. "Go back there, suck a fat cock. I mean, he would like that."
 
If you want to trash talk and say those things you can do it at your own home. If you're on someone's dime and you have actual sponsors, you better keep your mouth shut and behave. The actions taken were appropriate, I think. The guy did apologize and the apology was accepted. There is definitely some growing up that needs to be done, but we are going in the right direction, I think.

Sure that's immature, but, really? play ANY ONLINE match and people talk like that. That is why if I do play online I mute everyone.
If he said that to a player who wasn't openly gay would he still be suspended?
The other player even said he took no offence to it!

I believe; "No, you didn't smoke shit. Shut your fucking mouth, Go back there, suck a fat cock. I mean, he would like that.", is the insult in question. I don't really agree with the suspension, but since there is cursing at a public event, I would be cool with a fine.

"Go suck a fatty" is pretty much the equivalent of "fuck off" or "go fuck yourself". Pretty common on line talk. These guys need to realize that they are in the spotlight now, there are a lot of intolerant people out there that take offense to that sort of language. Especially if you are seen as targeting a member one of those socially protected groups.
 
I like how people assume a comment is anti-gay. I think if you are going to call out some comment for being anti-anything you should have to explain yourself. Why is it anti-gay to describe an act that a gay person engages in?
 
Wasn't homophobic, as he didn't say it on the pretense he hates gays for being gay. He simply raged and insulted/slandered his opponent.

It was stupid for him to do and I don't support what he said or did. But, let's get things straight with what was said and how it was actually intended to be applied.
 
Just because you suck fat cock and like it does not make you gay. I'm sure there are plenty of people in jail who are not gay but like to suck fat cock because there is nothing else to do :D
 
How is that an anti-gay remark? Suspend, Fine, fire whatever over derogatory comments but people need to stop painting shit like this as something it’s not.

I’m in a group chat with 5 others and I don’t think any of us are “anti-gay” but we use this same damn language towards each other constantly.

Just shows that nothing will ever replace the smash mouth in your face Unreal Tournament, Quake III, etc LAN competitions from back in the day. Hopefully he has learned his lesson & going forward, he abides by the rules. Even if doesn't agree with them.

I'm so confused. Is he supposed to be afraid of gays or against gays? Asking if someone likes sucking cocks is bad? What if that person suffers from undiagnosed gender dysphoria? Maybe they would like sucking a cock but no one ever told them that they may? In that case, that would be a gay friendly statement.

I wonder if we Mic'd up guys like Reggie Miller and Chad Ochocinco and a slew of other Professional sports athletes, what kind of language we would heat from them? I myself am not a big fan of trash talkers, but it seems to be cherry picking to say that eSports is any worse than other sports. Having played Blacktop ball in an area where I was 1 of 2 whities, I can tell you regular sports as plenty if growing up to do.
