Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Have you tried hardcore yet? It's the only way I stay interested now.
I know your question wasn't directed at me, but the last time I RIP'd a toon in hardcore I quit the game for more than 2 years. I only play HC in PS4 now since I can save scum :angelic:.

Yeah I dropped D3. It just seems like I hit a plateau with each toon I roll. I'm never interested in the leader boards, so it's tough to stay interested in the loot grind for very long. I always have a blast for 10-15 hours though.

Worst part about the loot grind this season is even though they said they increased the drop rate of set pieces it seems like it is taking me twice as long to complete a set. I keep getting the same piece for the same set constantly, and when I do get something I need it has some of the shittiest rolls I've seen since Loot 2.0 was introduced. The game felt so good up until the last patch, too. I was actually having a blast for the first time in a long time and they go and fuck it up again.

My experience might be unique to myself, but it has killed my confidence and is why I am quitting the game again. May just be another sabbatical or not, we'll see. Frankly, I'm ready for Diablo IV.

I personally feel like you would have a much more enjoyable time on the PC version. Not being able to share loot is antifun and discourages group play which is what makes this game enjoyable.

I play on all three platforms. Season 10 was the last time I played on PC. I played on PS4 last season, and I'm playing on XB1X this season. Frankly, I think the console versions are better since you don't have to deal with network lag while playing solo.

I should try that.
It adds a completely different feel and challenge to the game. I've been playing this game since day 1 of release in 2012. I've played through every season and patch and watched it change greatly over time. The first several years I refused to play HC due to fear of possibly losing so much time with something that could be out of my control. The last couple years I've played almost strictly hardcore and not only have not experienced any network or server lag, I've only died once and that was being careless. Playing hardcore has provided that extra excitement and little bit extra strategy to my builds and playstyle that helps to keep it interesting. For anyone who's feeling bored or that things are a bit stale, give HC a try before you quit altogether. And if anyone needs a powerlevel just let me know!

You can use the cube to convert set pieces. As long as you have six pieces to one set you can get the full set which speeds the process up considerably, unless you're like me and every set drops except the one you are looking for.

That requires resources that I always seem to be short on, but I do this when I can and still can't seem to get the last missing piece I need. I managed to get a RoRG finally, so I cubed that and I'm off and running. Found a Short Man's Finger that rolled as an Ancient with decent affixes to go with the Helltooth set and I'm doing T11 speed runs now on my Witch Doctor. T13 should not be a problem at this point, but I'm still a little too squishy for comfort. One stray hit while I'm kiting can still kill me.

The problem I've had with this method is that you can't roll an Ancient as far as I know. So yeah, it's possible to roll the drop you're looking for, but the majority of the time it's a drop that has shit stats. It's a regurgitating loot-humancentipede and it gets tiresome.

If anyone needs a power level or demon hunter gear on softcore this season, let me know. I'm usually on after 6pm MST for a while and wouldn't mind helping someone out.

I'm to the point now where I have a ridiculous amount of forgotten souls due to nothing being upgrades anymore unless it's primal, so I shard everything. I don't mind giving out free gear to people whether they use it or not...

Yeah that's another problem but I find it easier to deal with as you're usually just running rifts at that point. Assuming you're using the garg pet build, the Sacred Harvester and Soul Harvest should take care of survivability issues. Obviously you lose the chicken with that but once you find ancients or have more paragons to combat the damage you can switch back. Or just keep running T11.

I haven't played that build in a few seasons but I find it enjoyable. I do remember leeching some GRs with that build when starting off. My damage was terrible but that weapon/ability combo let me stay alive without issue in higher GRs which let me gear faster. Either people didn't notice or didn't care that I wasn't helping much with damage.

You are correct, it can not roll ancient. It's only useful for getting initial six piece sets. Going from 4 to 6 pieces is generally a dramatic increase in power, so if you manage to find duplicates it can really speed up moving up the difficulty ladder, and obviously the higher you are the easier it is to find legendarys.

Reforging items is how you get ancients but you need to run bounties for that. A LOT of bounties. Even though I seem to be able to clear two bounties to everyone else's one with my DH, I still get sick of them after two full sets. Then you reforge an item a few times in a few seconds and it doesn't roll ancient, and you realize the last 20 minutes you spent running bounties were useless. I generally only attempt to reforge my weapon and maybe my offhand, everything else I'll wait for a drop or gamble at Kadala.

I've had a few days of not playing so I'm going to hop back in tonight and see what RNG brings me. I'm hoping for a useful primal but I'm not expecting much.

Ran an ran a few more GR last night to move my personal best from an 85 to an 89 on my Sader. Doesn't sound like much for SC but I'm rank 186 I think it was now in HC. I'm going to go for a 90 clear tonight. If I can only land a useable ancient Furnace or Blade of Prophecy I couof certainly move closer to the GR100s...

Yes, and I am using a Sacred Harvester with shitty rolls that is hurting my potential damage output. I can take about 7-10 hits from normal mobs on T11 with 10 souls banked, myabe 3-4 from elite packs and GR bosses. Maybe I just need to stop being a pussy and run T13 already :nailbiting:.

I just started up this season for the wings and stash tab. I think I'm up to Slayer for the Season Journey. My bnet tag is Islandfury#1913.

Anyone have any tips for the Helltooth Set Dungeon? I keep running out of time trying the kill the last of the mobs. Mastering a set dungeon is the last thing I need for Slayer. Are any of the other WD set dungeons easier? I also have the Arachyr, Jade Harvester and Zunimassa sets. I'm just far from optimized for them.

Arachyrs I found to be pretty easy to solo.

Helltooth was much easier to have someone in there with you that doesn't do anything at all until you've completed the first 2 objectives. Then they go around and mop things up with you in another direction to clear all mobs before the timer ends.

If you need someone to help clear mobs let me know.

Took me 7 tries to master the Natalya set dungeon. I had to remove so much gear to limit myself to ~250k damage. If I killed things to fast it was impossible to keep RoV up for 90 seconds. What an infuriating dungeon for me.

Really? I found Nats to be the easiest of them to master.

Yeah, from what I was reading online no one really had issues with it and facerolled it. I didn't expect to have to strip most of my gear off to pass it, but oh well. So far the other set dungeons I've done on other classes have been easy if not fun.

I did manage to finish the Season Journey. Has the power creep really gotten out of hand? With a little bit of help, the Season Journey is easily doable.

The base Journey its always easy.. not so much for slayer, champion and conqueror challenges..

I had some help with multiple T13 Greed runs and pretty much solo'ed everything else. The most annoying one was probably trying to get the 3rd conquest when you only play 1 char. Overall though, I think getting through Conqueror for the stash tab has gotten easier since season 4.

I haven't played this game in a long time, fired it up the other day to play around and see if anything was changed. Didn't notice anything different.

I decided to try a Greater Rift and I chose the highest level I could which was 82 and I actually completed it in time.

Nice job! I just finally hit GR90 for the first time.

My Compass Rose/Traveler's Pledge aren't ancient though it doesn't necessarily matter for the TP since I have CHD/CHC/Cold damage on it and no mainstat. It'd be nice to be able to get 300 or so Dex on there via Cal's Despair, though, same with the ring. I'm still running an old Fist of Assturasrassaqdausdr which caps Exploding Palm's damage bonus at 300% (mine is at 285) while the new ones drop with up to 500%. These combined would really help shave a bit more time off the runs. Still no primals.

There are a few things different, but they're mostly changes to gear to make the game easier, rather than new gear. Same old strats. This season, I'm probably going to take it easy and just get Guardian, and call it a season.

Ya, I noticed that my Bow and Quiver both have changes to the special stats. the non-ancient one with lower DPS is actually stronger than the ancient one. I used the non-ancient one to do the GR82 with.

Not bad. Now let's see how far you guys get on HC :-P

I did a 92 on HC this past season like 2 months ago. Stopped there which at the time was around top 100. I get nervous pushing that high on HC.

Been a little while and getting a hankering for some D3 so I think I'm going to roll a WD for S14 this Friday. Gonna be targeting an Arachyr firebats build in HC mode.

Blizzard recently had the earth-shattering idea of Themed Seasons and their first implementation is...*drumroll*...double goblin spawns for the season. That's the whole theme. I mean, hey, double goblins was always amusing when they ran the weekend perks, but this smacks of someone suggesting "themed seasons" in a meeting and then giving the intern an hour on Friday afternoon to come up with something.

Well, the game is pretty much dead at this point. Yeah, there will be people who come back Friday, but in two weeks, it will be back to being a wasteland. I'm burnt out on the grinding for grifts. This season, I'm pretty much going for guardian, and that's it.

As for why I'll be playing Friday, the leveling process 1->70 is one of the few things I still enjoy. My goal is to aim for sub 2 hours to hit 70. Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to do this without solo massacring.

They need to add a casino into the game so we can use some of this gold. I collected 1.7 billion the other day just goofing off in a couple of rifts and a bounty run.

Maybe some slot machines where you can win gear,

Anyone play this season? I finished the season journey a couple of hours ago. Decided to play Barb since I haven't played one in a long time.

Honestly I cant say I fully enjoyed it. I just felt so weak compared to every other class I've played. The fact that I only got my first gift this morning didn't help though. Also the fact that I need two gifts for most builds is annoying. I could spend more time trying to get better weapons or augmenting but meh. I'm trying to decide if I want to roll another class (probably Wizard if anything) or just say fuck it and be done for the season.

Tried barb this season. I normally play DH/Monk. 1->70, the barb destroys the DH in time hitting 70. From there, he feels weak. I've yet to get a band of might, so couldn't really play higher than 50-55. Switched over to the DH, and got to 75, yet haven't found a gift yet, or Wraps of Clarity (or Compass Rose & Travelers Pledge for Shadow), but fortunately, you can stay back, and I got to 75. I also completed 70 in HC, but no ancients yet, and proc'd once on a one hit, so I'm holding off on 75 until I'm a little stronger.
