Backstory: currently using a Sammy 40" KU6290 and Id like to use it elsewhere and pick up a new monitor. Running a 1080 Ti and would like to get the most out of it. 34" and 1440p is probably my prime spot and Gsync if at all possible. Just wanting to get people's thoughts. I'm going to use the ku6290 still as a second monitor but more as a tv than for the pc. Budget let's say 1k if possible? Not opposed to curved screens. Looking for the best overall gaming and general use experience.

Edit: Checked out the Acer X34 and Acer Z35, along with the AOC AGON AG352UCG and HP Omen X35 but I get overwhelmed with monitors pretty quickly as there are to many damn options.

Not a big fan of ultra-widescreens myself. So take what I say with a grain of salt.

Would probably stay away from the X34. Because when it's talking about 100Hz refresh, it's overclocking the monitor.
I'm not a big fan of possibly cooking my monitor just to get proper sync and refresh rates.

The Z35P (not the Z35) and the Omen look to be comparable.
The AOC monitor looks good too. I'm just not sure why it's almost $300 less expensive...Yes, not a brand name. But still, sets off warnings.

Check out the LG 34WK95U-W or 34GK950G coming this spring. Both Nano IPS (aka quantum dot) panels for better colors, the former is HDR600, the latter Gsync, otherwise, the same 34" 1440p curved ultrawide panel. Price unknown yet... otherwise check the Predator X35 or the Asus PG35VQ, but who knows how much those will cost with their 512 dimming zones and HDR1000...

LG 32GK850G unless you have a really strong itch for the ultrawide gimmick. Much better than any IPS glowing BLB panels will be, no matter what QD layer you stick on it.

Thank you for everyone's input thus far...

Wait until next year. 2018 is another boring dud.
There is always something new and better coming out, I stopped waiting for the next best thing.

I had the same thoughts as well with the AOC

Thank you for the advice; however, I'm not looking to wait till this Spring.

I'm not stuck on ultrawide and after checking out some panels today side by side I think I'd rather not go with ultrawide at this point. Starting to look at non-ultrawide 32 and 35" models. Think I'll be happy at that size.
I like the LG 32GK850G, is there a 35" model similar to it?

Seconded on the 32GK850G looking really good, subbing for further info! (same buying situation)

No on the 35" option from what I can tell. There does seem to be a lot of new stuff this coming year in the way of monitors; however, for my situation I don't see my moving from a 1080 Ti anytime soon and that LG might just do the trick.

Edit: If I go with widescreen it looks like the Z35P or the Omen at 35", if not the LG is probably what I'll go with. Still not sure though.

Leaning towards the Omen or the Z35P, but the z35P doesn't seem very friendly to mounting. I HAVE to wall mount whatever monitor I get and I'm struggling to find a tilting vesa wall mount that will fit the size and weight of the Z35P.
This is where I'm at lol...

Needs to be vesa wall mountable with tilt. Can't find a damn mount right now though either:(

Edit: Price on any of them is not an issue, just deciding on one is!

Matt, hands down if I was looking for a new monitor with your requirements it would be the 32GK850G. Easy choice. VA panel with minimal smearing and would work well with your 1080Ti.

Thanks for the input. Still thinking I may want to try widescreen thought, and if I go that route I'm leaning towards the Z35P. As I don't use half the screen real estate I have now with the Samsung 40", I don't see going ultrawide and losing some space as an issue for me which is why I'm still considering the Acer.

Yes the Z35P would be the best option for widescreen just be advised it will have some slow pixel transition trailing on some colors.

Not something I would probably even notice, or even know what I'm looking at if it does occur lol. Going to try out a widescreen, so I'm pulling the trigger on the Z35P. Thank you for everyone's advice, much appreciated!

VESA mount:

Good up to 42" and 44lbs (most of these 35" monitors weigh in at about 22 lbs.
Thanks for that, unfortunately my fears were answered regarding wall mounts when I decided to go with the Z35P. The VESA mount is recessed and any mount that as an option larger than 100 x 100mm will not fit. Very few options from what I'm finding. I don't need it to pull out from the wall so this one I found works great. Confirmed with some pics I found on Acer forums. Should be perfect.

P.S. This screen is gorgeous!

Note: Most of these wall mounts with the outsized VESA mounts have standoffs.

You put the screw through the plate, through the standoff, and into the back of the monitor.

The one you're looking at is giving you a max tilt of 5 degrees.

Good point on the standoffs, just wanted to get it as close to the wall as possible, Tilt isn't much of an issue.

I just did a mini-review of the LG 32GK850G. I can no longer recommend any VA panel monitor outside of that one.
