Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

Tried 3.0... so slow. Getting around 5-10 fps.

Mocapped stuff still look super weird.

Oh that's promising.

Why does it sound like FPS is linked to server performance? Aren't they generally two different things?

It's almost like this... tech demo wasn't completely thought out.

Very pretty and well done. I need to figure out why the advanced controls wont take to get in and play with that. Never messed with it in 2.6

Yeah, a Warlock. The "checkmark" looking thing is the sun light shining on that leading edge of its wing.

I figured- that's a distinctive shape in this 'verse. I really love my Cutlass Blue (well, black now but you know how that goes), but my Avenger will always be a favorite.

I have yet to actually finish one of those patrol missions, I either have to help friends, run out of ammo or my game crashes.

Those Aurora LNs they spawn are a serious pain in the ass, they take longer to kill than a Gladius, Buccaneer or Cutlass. Small cross section combined with OP shields they can be red level hull damage all over and still manage to drag out fights forever.

I actually have a surprisingly hard time killing the Gladius, even the Buccaneers are easy enough to kill. Aurora die pretty quick too if you just shoot them in the cockpit or hit them in the power plant by chance which is right behind the cockpit.

Nice, I'll have to try that. Gladius like to fly in a circle around you and leave their dorsal/back side facing to the inside. So if you manage to get inside that circle you can just turret your ship continually hitting them.

Eurogamer- Alpha 3.0 impressions

conclusion- disappointment...

As it stands, at major milestone alpha 3.0, Star Citizen does not convince as a game...but as a picture-postcard-maker - as a demonstration of technology - it's virtually peerless...standing on top of a canyon on a dusty, windswept planet, looking up at the suns and moons in the sky and knowing you can fly up to them is hair-raisingly cool...it's a simulation of the highest detail and largest proportions...

but once you've seen the eye-popping sights, once you've flown down from space onto a planet and then back up again - once you've seen the beautiful Blade Runner hubs with their rebellious posters on murky walls and flickering neon lights - there's little to do...you can buy fancy-looking guns, you can even buy a great big railgun, which charges up and then very satisfyingly unloads, but there's nothing to kill...there are a handful of missions to run, but they're tepid and boring...

That sums up what I gathered from about 420 pages of this thread.

Settle down. The game is what it is at this point. Either like it or leave it alone please.

Not when all they are saying is it sucks. Constructive criticism is ok. Even a bit of a rant is understandable. Just posting negative blurbs is not constructive. We all know it is taking way too long. It looks awesome though and there is still a good chance that something epic comes from it. I just want it to succeed bc it is the game I have always wanted. It is ridiculous how the game has been funded and progressed. I know that. The horse is done buried now. Let's see if it arises and become horse jeebus.

The graphics are incredible, but I can not play with 20-23 FPS. I'll hop back on when it's more optimized in 4 years.

the Eurogamer article was their impressions of the latest Alpha 3.0...so it was constructive criticism...just because their conclusions were that it's disappointing doesn't make it less valid...even if people say it sucks that's still valid because they have a right not to like it...happens in every thread where some people only want positive reviews and impressions to be posted while leaving any negative reviews out...wanting something to be good does not make it so...

Bullshit. I want to pop in every few months and see if it's still a pile of crap. The screenies just give me more to sift through.

I'd rather read real opinions than a circle jerk of screen shots. I have an Avenger and actually spent more than I would have liked on that... I'd like to actually use it one day. ;)

The criticisms with nothing in retort are more useful to me than shallow screen shots.

Then start your own thread for discussions around the game, or unsubscribe from the thread for which you aren't happy with the content. Or just hop over to reddit.com/r/starcitizen and read the discussions there, at least you can choose to skip any screenshot material. There are plenty of other community sites around this game you can read.

Are you getting that on your 1080ti? What's your resolution? I ask because I finally went from a watercooled 7970 to a watercooled 1080 (og) at QHD and it ran great on high settings in 2.6. I'm out of room on this computer and finishing up the replacement with a watercooled 1080ti and can't imagine it not running better than a 1080 did in 2.6

Yes sir. I was running at 4k then dropped it to 1440p. Everyone in game chat said it was normal.

Ah- I forgot that I had heard about that- framerate tied to server ping or something network related. Sucks, but I'm figuring that will change soon enough...
