Meltdown/Spectre impact on performance?

Has anyone here tested to see how the UEFI updates impact performance? I've only come across one test run so far, and it doesn't look great: https://www.techspot.com/article/1556-meltdown-and-spectre-cpu-performance-windows/page3.html
Anyone tested their own setups yet?

I'm seeing an average 10% drop in performance according to Samsung Magician. This is more of an observation than scientific experiment. I'd need to flip back and forth between disk images to verify those before and after results.

fyi, I am not BIOS updated, yet...

At this point, I'm willing to accept things and move on. Yeah, it sucks, but what can your really do? Running un-patched isn't exactly sane.

As a side note, I'm not seeing much impact if any on the CPU side of things. Then again, I doubt this is the end of the patching.

Game benchmark wise I'm getting results well within the margin of error (3%) at 1080P and 4K. Main rig specs in my sig.

Storage wise I could care less as NVME performance did fuck all for game load times vs a good SATA III SSD. (Edit: not SATA II, though that may be the case as well)

Agreed. There are definitely diminishing returns to be had. Real world is where it's at.
